Decided to come here on a whim after turning into the parking lot to go to Del Taco. It ended up being the better decision by far. The #3 plate blew me away with the most perfect crispy taco shell, high quality cabeza meat paired with a really good green sauce. Ngl, I left kinda mind blown. read more

It's a small joint that looks family owned from the outside. At first look, the menu seems overwhelming but it's actually just the toppings/choices of meat you can put into the item that you want and the prices are included! The service was exceptional. The woman was very respectful to all guests in both Spanish and English, even over the phone, and incredibly quick to clear a line. It kind of reminds me of my mom. She was very clear in explaining how taco Tuesday works to me as well as how pricing is different for certain types of meats in different entrees. They DO have taco Tuesday specials for tacos! It's only catered to tacos hence the name taco Tuesday, so other entrees like burritos or tortas do not get this benefit. Now let's get into the food. I ordered 3 tacos - asada, carnita, and al pastor. I was asked if I wanted "everything" on it - these would be onions and cilantro, and of course we go with the YES. Came here to eat for lunch on a Saturday afternoon, it was dead. We checked out Yelp reviews and decided to eat here but ended up disappointed. My husband ordered the carne asada fries and they were stale... they barely put any meat on his fries.... It was mainly cheese and fries.I ordered a carne asada taco and sope. The taco was crunchy, was supposed to be soft but tortilla was over cooked and it was crunchy. The sope was good, that's the only thing that I liked. TEEEEEEEENY tacos!!! It's almost comical how tiny the tacos are. This owner is super frugal and apparently rips off his customers I, personally don't eat food from this place, but my mom does. And she pointed out that the tacos are so tiny, the owner decides to start using the mini tortillas compared to the regular tortillas, how he once did. I live on down the 57 from this place; I pass it every day. I decided to give this place a choice after coming home and being super hungry. When you walk in, you'll notice this place is pretty spacious and is super clean. They've got the usual burritos, tacos and all the Mexican goodies. I went with a burrito de asada. There's a salsa bar to the side with a salsa roja and a green sauce as well as limes. The burrito was big and nice and hot. Packed with flavor from the asada and cilantro and onions and creaminess from the beans. I'll be back to try other dishes for sure read more

They are quick and I belive the prices are fair. Saturday mornings is probably when they are the busiest so I recommend placing a phone order if you're in a rush. This is 1 of 2 small taco joints 1/2 a mile away and the other is 4 mailed away on State college. We usually opt to drive the extra few miles and always order the same 5 asada tacos and a regular nachos cause it just seams the food is better. This time the nachos were very soggie and there was maybe a tablespoon of meat on each of my tacos. The cost was $15 and I don't mind paying for good food but this ain't it. I've been going to Escalante based on a student of mine who highly recommended this restaurant. I was pleasantly surprised being greet by this nice friendly professional gentleman. I truly enjoy the family atmosphere and their food is excellent. I had the shrimp soup and it was delicious! It came in a big bowl with loads of big shrimps. Used to be a huge fan of escalante but this today's food was just down right disappointing. This is by far the sorriest and tasteless meal I've ever received from escalante. The chips were all soggy, taco was lifeless and had no color, guac tasted premade, quesadilla was the only decent item we had today. But you can't possible mess up a cheese quesadilla so nothing to be proud of here. Also note their inconsistent business hours. You'll prob get better food at del taco if escalante is closed anyway. With all the competition literally within a 2 mile radius of this place, you'd think they would try a little. Sad. read more

what was once a neighborhood gem is now just another taco shop. penny pinching has reared it's ugly head at Taqueria Escalante. The ownership no longer cares about customer service and quality food. Prices are up and attitudes and experiences are down. They cannot keep staff employed, and if the owner is in, run (don't walk) the other way. Things are so bad now that regardless how much food you order, you are limited to two, yes 2, salsas maximum. And you have to beg for those. Anaheim's diversity and rich heritage means all is not lost and there are other great options - just a sad tale to tell the the sun has set on this business and i would not recommend it any longer. read more

Only one salsa container per order. I'm a salsa person so I will not be coming here again. Also their sodas are really expensive 2.79 and 3.49 for medium and large repectively.
