Puesto Perfect Margarita, Potato Taquitos, Mini Birria Burrito
    Breanna L.

I celebrated my 29th birthday here with my family & it reminded me why Puesto has always been one of my favorite spots. I used to work here years ago so I know how much care goes into the food & drinks. The Puesto Perfect Margarita is still my favorite margarita I've ever had. Everything is made fresh & you can absolutely taste the difference. I always order mine with a sugar rim. It's consistently refreshing, balanced & incredibly smooth. We stopped by on a Monday around 4:30 p.m. just before happy hour ended. It was nice & relaxed when we arrived. It only started getting a little busier as we were leaving. We took advantage of happy hour & ordered a few favorites. The potato taquitos have been one of my go-to menu items for years & are just as delicious as I remembered. Crispy on the outside, flavorful inside & served over a generous bed of fresh guacamole that makes every bite even better. We also tried one of the newer happy hour items the short rib mini burrito served with a green sauce. Both my husband & I really enjoyed it. The short rib was tender & the sauce added the perfect amount of brightness. I was happily snacking on the chips with the molcajete salsa. It's one of my favorite restaurant salsas. I also love the chips with Puesto Perfect guacamole. It makes it hard to stop eating. Since it was my birthday I treated myself to a Tropical Candy Shot. If you like bold flavors definitely order one. It reminded me of a Mexican street candy in shot form with a Tajín rim & a pineapple garnish. It was festive, flavorful & the perfect birthday treat. The sweetest surprise of the evening was the complimentary birthday dessert. A slice of pistachio tres leches cake. I love tres leches but I've never had a pistachio version before. It was incredibly moist & rich without being too heavy. The pistachios added the perfect crunch & nutty flavor. It was one of the highlights of the meal. One small detail I always appreciate is that they bring a pitcher of water to the table. This makes it easy to refill your glass throughout the meal without waiting. It's a thoughtful touch that makes the dining experience feel more comfortable. I'm so glad we came back after not visiting for quite a while. I love the consistently amazing margaritas, delicious happy hour menu, & warm hospitality. The thoughtful birthday surprise made it even better. It was a wonderful way to celebrate. I'll definitely be back! If you're visiting for the first time do yourself a favor & order the Puesto Perfect Margarita & potato taquitos. Also save room for the pistachio tres leches if it's available.

Mango Passionfruit Shrimp Ceviche - 10/10!!!

I've been here twice for business meals and it's become one of my favorite spots in Anaheim. The atmosphere is beautiful, relaxed, and has a great vibe without feeling too formal. Every ceviche we tried was excellent, especially the Passion Fruit Mango Shrimp Ceviche. The Tamarindo Taco was just okay. Everyone enjoyed the chicken flautas. Valet is convenient and they validate the first two hours in the Westin parking structure - I think it's $30 per hour after that. Overall, definitely worth a visit!

Came here for a casual dinner before a night out. We ordered a few dishes to share along with the bottle of mango margarita. I would definitely go for the aesthetic and vibes. It was a cute place with families and group outings. Food was okay for the price. Service was also okay. Would come back for another girls night out.

Great service. Natalie was very sweet and attentive. Food wise, i loved my veggie tacos and am so glad they brought them back on the menu. $11 each usually, but they were half off for Taco Tuesday. We also got the salsa sampler ($9), potato taquitos ($21), and side of rice and beans ($2 for Taco Tuesday). My favorites were the veggie taco and salsa.

I came here for dinner last year and remember being delighted by all the apps and drinks, and was excited to go back. Today it was a little less enjoyable. I ordered a Mango Margarita. It came with salt and I'm guessing Tajin and a ton of lime juice on the rim - it was so sour that my mouth puckered every time I got it in my mouth, and I'm not a Tajin fan. This rim wasn't listed on the menu and I feel it should be - I wasn't asked if I wanted a salt or sugar rim and would've preferred the sugar. I got the Potato Taquitos, which I was excited for, but there was too much potato filling in each and not enough sauce, they came off as dry. They came on a bed of guac and shredded veggies, but the guac was kind of buried so you didn't realize it was there. The sauces on the side were lackluster - the green thicker one tasted like a boring tomatillo salsa, and the liquidy one was very spicy (which I can't do). I got the Veggie Burrito Bowl and asked for some cotija cheese on top - I'm shocked it didn't come with shredded jack cheese or anything, and adding this helped a lot. The guac it came with didn't have a ton of flavor, which is weird because I remember loving it last year. Something in it was very spicy and made it hard for me to eat, but I couldn't figure out what, and nothing listed in this on the menu should've been spicy, otherwise I wouldn't have gotten it. I'm told parking here is mandatory valet, but they charge after 2 hours, so we felt a little rushed. The plant themed decor is memorable and gorgeous - sadly I didn't get any pics! Our server was sweet but seemed scattered and uncomfortable. I asked for new silverware when my entree came out since my fork got in the spicy sauce I didn't like from the apps, and she never came back with it. After waiting 5 minutes while the rest of my table had entrees and was waiting for me to start eating, I finally asked a busboy, who quickly got me silverware and straws as I asked (both a short and large since he wasn't sure if I wanted it for my drink or water glass - very conscientious detail!) My 4 stars is really for the strong positive impression Puesto left on me last year - today was closer to a 3 star just because things were either too bland or too spicy without any warning from the menu. It's hard for me to not be happy with Mexican food but somehow everything was a little off from my preferences today. I'd still come again but would order differently or ask more detailed questions about how spicy things are.

Overall: good vibe, convenient location, but loud, pricey, and the food doesn't justify the cost. Puesto has a nice ambiance and a convenient location near the Anaheim Convention Center and Disneyland, but the vibe is definitely more adult‑oriented. The music is loud, and it gets packed during dinner, so make a reservation if you plan to go. Parking: Self‑parking is available, but you'll likely end up on the 4th floor. They validate for one hour only. We still paid $18 for an extra 1 hour and 10 minutes, which felt steep. Food is overpriced for what you get. The Guacamole flight with chips was the best thing we ordered. The Short Rib Bowl and Shrimp Bowl were both too salty. Service (Anthony) was friendly and moved at a good pace despite the crowd.

    Quesabirria and carnitas tacos

We decided to get away from Anaheim Convention Center and the crowds at NAMM for lunch, and figured Puesto would be a solid bet: we know they have good food, the restaurant's a bit of a walk (definitely nothing too far, but you do have to get out of the convention center area) and we thought not many people would know it was even there. Turns out we were wrong. The wait for two people at 12:30 on a Friday was over an hour. We were on our way back to the door when the hostess told us there was immediate seating at the bar, which we took. They did only have two people working the bar that day, which meant service was a bit slow, but at least they were very friendly. We got started with a couple of beers (the Negra for both of us) and the Salsa Flight to start. For my main, I ordered one Short Rib Quesabirria and one Tamarindo Shrimp; my husband got one short rib and one Carnitas. The salsa flight was interesting. It featured their "house" salsa alongside the more "elevated" versions, which ranged from sweet to spicy. I did like having the options but found myself getting full off of chips and dip before our tacos even made an appearance. Which, I guess wasn't a terrible thing, but next time I think I'd suggest a different appetizer. The tacos were hot and fresh. I enjoyed the Quesabirria version - the meat was tender and saucy, the crunchy cheese on top added a nice bit of texture and a smokiness that balanced the flavors. But but BUT! Y'all, that tamarindo shrimp taco, though! I wanted to sing it sonnets after the first bite. The shrimp were perfectly cooked - deep fried and crispy - but it was that tamarindo sauce that pulled everything together. I would absolutely go back for just that taco and I would have no regrets.

Service and the ambiance is phenomenal! We shared the guacamole trio appetizer and esquite which was 10/10. The filet mignon and chicken Al pastor tacos were our fav! The pistachio tres leches is the only item we disliked, it had a passionfruit frosting. They reminded us about getting our parking validated which was awesome! Then we still had to pay $31.25 each while leaving the structure which was shocking. Pro tip, the Los Olivos location in Irvine has free parking.

Lobster Taco, Mushroom Taco, Filet Mignon Taco
    Sarah T.

First timer at Puesto for taco Tuesday, and I've gotta say it was pretty good. I got the mushroom, lobster, and filet mignon taco. All of the meats were super tender. The mushroom one was also super flavorful. I loved the toppings that they put on each taco, they paired really well. The only thing for me was I didn't really love the crispy melted cheese on the mushroom and filet mignon taco. If you love cheese, they are right up your alley. But I'm not really a cheese girl myself, so it kind of felt a little over powering.

We're big fans of Puesto and have visited their San Diego locations, so we were excited to stop in after a long Disney day. Unfortunately, this visit left us disappointed. We ordered two filet mignon burritos and salsa & chips to go. We do enjoy spicy food, but the burritos were significantly more spicy than what we're used to at Puesto San Diego. The heat level felt inconsistent with what the dish is supposed to be. On top of that, the portion size of the burrito felt smaller than usual. At around $30 per burrito, you expect to walk away feeling like you got your money's worth. The salsa was also noticeably different. We're used to a vibrant red color, but this one came out very dark, almost black, as if the ingredients had been over-roasted or charred. Overall, it didn't match the quality and consistency we've come to expect from Puesto, which made the experience pretty disappointing.

Not your typical Mexican restaurant, it's a fancy smancy Mexican restaurant. They even take it a step further by taking away the free chips and salsa lol I came with my wife and daughter after a day at Knott's. We were famished and needed sustenance, Puesto provided that. We had a bit of a wait but went by fast, staff was friendly and answered questions I had. Drinks were good, our waiter Anthony was nice and attentive. I had a birria bowl, wife had a salad, Kiddo had carnita tacos. We were all satisfied and would come back again. Only recommendation is bring back the complimentary chips and salsa, or take it off your menu. FALSE ADVERTISING is bad business.

I had an interesting first time visit at Puesto Anaheim... my party and I arrived at around 9pm and the restaurant closed at 10. When we asked to put our names on the list they said it could be up to a 40 minute wait, since the restaurant was almost closing we asked if it would be an issue for us to be sat so late or if we'd be rushed to place our orders. If this were the case, we planned to dine elsewhere to avoid inconveniencing the staff. The host kindly said "No theres no issue at all, as long as you're seated before 10, which you likely will be, there's no problem at all and you can take your time to order" so we decided to put our names down and wait. We eventually got seated and our waiter came to our table and after saying hello he follows with "Just a heads up we do close kitchen in about 8 minutes so I suggest you order now". We were not happy about this because we had hoped to avoid that exact sort of scenario which is why we asked the question to begin with. For the rest of the night, he didn't check on us much at all. Took away plates without asking if we were done, and was not attentive. We got no refills and to be quite frank he gave us attitude anytime we flagged him down to ask for something. As someone who works in food service, I understand being tired & wanting to go home, however, it's never okay to make paying customers feel unwelcome. I will spare our waiters name but it's a shame given that the food was delicious & the restaurant was beautiful inside. We will likely not visit again.

Came with a friend for Dine in OC and was brutally reminded why I don't dine in Anaheim. We had reservations. After waiting around 20 to 25 minutes, we ended up taking two seats at the bar which is first come, first serve. I was able to count at least 9 tables that were empty and not set or ready for service. The wait time plus the failure to have our reserved table ready for us indicates they are either incredibly inefficient or severely understaffed. This is stressful when parking costs $25 per hour after two hours. I don't usually comment on plating, but their Dine in OC meal presentation leaves much to be desired. The entire meal was served on a small metal cafeteria tray. The chips in a paper carton a la McDonald's, making us look and feel out of place compared to everyone else's non-Dine-in-OC's ceramic serveware. PUESTO PERFECT MARGARITA: 3/5. Definitely on the sweet side, which is not really my thing, but my friend loved. Salt was on the entire side of the glass and not just the rim, which felt messy to me. PUESTO GUAC + CHIPS: 3/5. The funky chunks of parm in the guac were interesting. I had to ration the guac, which is never fun. FILET MIGNON TACO: 4/5. The texture was definitely not giving filet mignon, but it was seasoned well. BAJA FISH TACO: 4/5. A little soggy from the first bite, but again, very flavorful.

I think this is on everyone's speakeasy list!…read more Make sure you make a reservation It is very packed. They offer bar seating and booth / table Follow the wall from Randy's donuts and Look for a wall of Japanese sake/beer barrels and head towards the restaurant - the rolling boil. There will be a check in host and stand there and wait (it will be located up against the wall with a big secret door right next to the hostess station) It's very New York inside. When I first came in Spring with the amazing, Karen, the menu and everything was great Now, I took my friend who was in town from Nashville and it was a brand new theme. It's the great Gatsby. Even our waitress, Jasmine was dressed for the occasion. I would say this place is known for Absinthe. They have cocktails featuring it or you can get one of the huge apparatus (huge and glowing green) which, if you are into it? I highly recommend. Just one of the huge apparatus makes one regular drink. Or, what Karen and I did, was split it and make it into a shot for the both of us. The waitress comes out and shows you how it works and goes over everything. Karen, who I came with, was a pro and knew her way around it. She showed me the ropes lol. Honestly, if you are here? When in Rome. Go all out and try it, since it's where they shine here. They took off a few menu items and added some themed drinks. ( a couple new champagne themed drinks) They have big entree items but I suggest small bites and sharing and mostly coming for the drinks. There's no bathroom inside, so you do have to leave the bar and go to the closest one (over behind Randy's donuts) and then enter the speakeasy again Both times coming here I've never had an issue. It's a small, packed place. And yet they still have the cocktails flowing and the food coming out in a good time. So the food and drinks are good Atmosphere is lovely. Service is good. Especially for it usually being very busy in here This place is located inside the Anaheim packing district. So I suggest hitting up a couple other spots before or afterwards for some more food or drinks P.S. it is very dark In here. They never cared if we used our light to look at the menu. However, they do not want flash photography They also do not strictly enforce a dress code (my friend from Nashville asked) however, they suggest dressing business casual and not too underdressed

Date night for mom and dad away from the kids type of night. Very mellow and chill. Small but cozy…read more I loved the Gatsby decor. We chose to be seated at the bar. Service was decent. I really liked the clarified strawberry drink, similar to strawberry and cream. I ordered a drink after that unfortunately forgot the name (photo attached with a tall glass) but there was no special cocktail craft taste to it. Just hard liquor taste and undrinkable :( the bartender kindly offered another drink. Unfortunately none of the food was the least bit good. Steak and fries was ordered medium rare and cooked to medium well with what seemed like no seasoning was on there at all. Crab cake was just ok and the slaw beneath it was drenched in a vinaigrette that was just sour and unpleasant. And the Mac and cheese, as we were very hopeful and looking forward to, was probably the blandest Mac and cheese we ever had. We asked the lady bartender for salt and she handed us, no exaggeration (and you guys will probably think I am) 10 grains of salt in it and said "looks like there's a lil something you could still get out of there" My jaw dropped. But yeah. The shredded meat on top of the Mac and cheese was cooked beyond the point of edible. That one was unfortunately sent back bc we just couldn't eat it. We were bummed over all mostly about the food.

Food: Decent Drinks: Good…read moreHappy Hour: Great deal! Decor: Perfect for spooky lovers Ambiance: Could use some music to match the theme Service: good & attentive waitress I actually ended up here by accident. I was trying to go to Villains Brewery. I didn't realize I was at the wrong place until I looked at the menu. The two spots are right next to each other, have similar aesthetics, and are easy to mix up. Since I was already there (and starving), I decided to stay. The spooky decor is totally my vibe, so I was happy to give it a shot. The food was decent not bad by any means, but it didn't have that wow factor. I've definitely had better steaks and mac & cheese, but everything was cooked fine and tasted good. The drinks were solid, and I liked the cocktail selection. What really impressed me was the happy hour. BOGO drinks plus two free sides with the steak is a pretty great deal these days. The steak was a little pricey for the quality, but honestly, what isn't expensive anymore.... Service was good. My waitress was attentive, though to be fair I was the only customer there at the time. My only real complaint is that the place felt a little quiet. With the spooky theme, some music would really help set the mood and elevate the atmosphere. Overall, this ended up being a pleasant surprise. I'd recommend it for food and drinks, and I personally enjoyed it much more than Villains Brewery (you can read my review on that one... no bueno). Not sure if the two businesses are connected, but I had a good experience at one and a bad experience at the other. ‍

It was 5 o'clock somewhere lol…read more This bar has prime real estate inside the great, Anaheim packing district. (The Anaheim packing district has private parking and it's easy to find a spot during the week. On the weekend, it's another story) You basically run right into the hammer bar when you enter from the main entrance. It's nothing fancy, gives off hipster vibes and is cool without trying to be cool. The two bartenders Josh and Xavier were amazing I came here around prime lunch time. I went and asked one of the bartenders, since they do not serve food if it was ok to bring some pastries inside and eat them with my drink. (There's a pastry place right next to the hammer bar) They said since it was a weekday and not busy I could bring something in. So I went and grabbed some food and sat there while drinking my drinks. They have bar seating and then they have hightop tables as well I asked them for some recommendations. Josh and Xavier both recommended The zombie (kept warning me that it was extremely strong. So I stayed away from that. Even though I'm confident I could handle it) The banana clip The pool noodle (I told them I needed it to be pretty / cool looking too, lol) I went with the pool noodle -Plantaray Pineapple Rum, Rhum J.M. Agricole, guava, apricot, lime and cava. AND, let me tell you, this was delicious AND looked amazing 10/10 Then I went with the banana clip- Old Forester 100 Proof Bourbon, banana, mandarine, cinnamon, pineapple and lemon. 10/10, I loved it To be honest all the drinks sounded great. If I wasn't planning on going to other places and walking around the packing district, I would have just stayed at this bar and had a few more lol. Prices were extremely reasonable as well The service that Josh and Xavier provided was phenomenal 10/10. They were friendly and knowledgeable. They answered all the questions I had They also have mocktails, beer and wine. I highly recommend coming here for a drink if you are coming to the Anaheim Packing district. Or stay here for a while. I could have definitely stayed longer and tried more. I'll definitely be back next time I am in the area (On the menu it says they offer gift cards. So it would be perfect for any friends that live by this place and appreciate a cool bar)

This review is for the Trader Sam's mixology seminar. I haven't visited during regular hours yet…read more The inside of Trader Sam's was closed for a few months for renovations earlier this year. They have mixology seminars periodically, and I snagged spots for a friend and me a few days after they reopened. The cost is ~$180 per person and it is held inside the main bar area. They will also validate your parking. Arrive at least fifteen minutes before the start time at the check-in sign near the entrance. When it's time to enter, grab any available seat at the bar or any of the tables. Everything for making the drinks is set up ahead of time. You mix and garnish a cocktail and a mocktail. Kelly Merrell who is well known in tiki/cocktail circles guided the seminar. For an introductory mixology seminar, the format was great with a lot of basic cocktail education and interaction with the attendees. I've been making cocktails at home for a while and even picked up some helpful tips. The "Barrel of Mischief" cocktail we made had six different spirits, which was perfect for describing the different characteristics and some background on each. After mixing up the cocktail, you garnish it however you like from various options provided. The cocktail was very good. Even with all those different spirits, it was very balanced and not boozy and had some complexity. We also made a basic mocktail with lemon, simple syrup, and elderberry tonic. It was even garnished with a cute Mickey Mouse cucumber slice. Apparently, bars have been paying a lot more attention to mocktails lately, which is great for people who don't drink but still want to get the same experience. Once the seminar inside has completed, there is a reception for attendees across from the entrance in the Tangaroa Terrace outdoor patio area. The area was reserved and has tables, a large fireplace, and live music. We were served ahi tuna bites, Hawaiian fried rice, and a Taiyaki waffle fish filled with ice cream. We were also served a Miehana cocktail. Kelly and other Trader Sam's staff mingled with guests. Each attendee also received a Trader Sam's 15th anniversary mug a few weeks before its general release. I had a great time, learned a few tips, and I finally got to see the inside of Trader Sam's. Since reopening, they are now walk-in/waitlist only and no reservations, and they said it's actually easier to get in now. I'm looking forward to returning during regular hours for food and cocktails.
