Living in Hutto for over six months now, I had realized that I had yet to truly find a taco joint like I had found in Lubbock or Tyler, some of my previous home bases in Texas. In my research, the food truck Taqueria Jaguar's seemed like a possible contender. I want to first address my own limitations in this review. I am a white man. I am an outsider being welcomed in by eating this food. I am not a subject expert. I am usually knowledgeable on what I do and don't like, however, and can destroy any plate in any cuisine class. I had been craving some birria recently, so I ordered a set of their birria tacos and then an order of plantains to go with it. The service was pretty efficient, and it wasn't long before the food came out hot. The plantains were fantastic. There was so much that I couldn't finish them myself, but they tasted pretty amazing. I recently discovered how fantastic plantains were, and Taqueria Jaguar's fried plantains were top notch. I highly recommend them. When it came to the birria, however, I was left disappointed. I fear maybe it was the experimental nature of my order instead of going for some al pastor tacos, but I felt the meat was not great. It was cooked well, but it had no flavor. I could best compare it to when my grandma made me chili and told me it was amazing, when I had to put so much cheese on it to hide its lack of flavor. I don't know if it was from the goat meat versus your typical beef you'd get elsewhere on the menu, but I was shockingly disappointed in how weak they were. I didn't finish them, sadly. I hope to return and give Taqueria Jaguar's a second chance. If people praise this food truck like they do, I think I might just be wrong. Until then, it is not my trusted taco joint. I thought it was ok. I do think this was one of the few times that I didn't agree with Yelp. The tacos were fine - no complaints. I'd say average good tacos. We had beef fajita (chewier), pastor (tender) but lacked flavor, and chicken fajita which was fine. We got a quesadilla (photo with campechana. I didn't enjoy the taste. It was a corn flavor unlike the normal one. We also got the birria tacos and consume. It was the not flavorful and the consume was pale and watery (I know it's not supposed to be thick). Maybe it was an off day. Their chips were fried fresh (flour I think) and they gave us a lot of little salsa containers. We couldn't dip them (you had to pour). The green was good and spicy but I didn't like the red one. I'm glad we tried this place. read more

Literally right off the freeway and the rail line, Taqueria Jaguar's provides a terrific lunch spot as a food truck with an extended covered dining area which was a nice relief from the sun. Service at the food truck was friendly and pretty efficient, and they had all of the traditional offerings for tacos and other options. We definitely enjoyed the grilled flour tacos with typical fillings including well seasoned barbacoa beef, tender chicken fajitas, shredded beef and mildly spiced al pastor along with chopped cilantro and onions. The mild salsa was also good as well as the accompanying lime wedges. The fried plantains were an interesting and delicious treat and were more of a dessert with the sweet crema complemented by queso. Overall, an excellent experience and would gladly come back to explore the rest of their menu. read more

I got 6 shredded beef tacos, flautas, and a strawberry aqua Fresca for around $46, beef tacos were full of ingredients and the beef was extremely flavorful, the flautas were good, maybe priced a little hefty but were good, the strawberry aqua fresca dawg don't even get me started, it was mad cheap and came in a big cup, you could tell it was fresh and real, i'll be coming back. read more

I was sold with the homemade tortillas. The salsas were really good. Quick and easy service. Felt good outside so the patio they set up was nice to eat under. My only issues were the meats themselves. I ordered pastor and beef fajita. The pastor was really wet, never had it like that. Had good flavor but the wetness killed it for me. Went back for a return trip for breakfast tacos. This food truck and outside eating area is a non-nonsense go to for real Mexican food. Each and every breakfast taco is outstanding. I prefer the ham but the chorizo is a close second. The "hot" hot sauce is mouth numbing but addictive. The mild is also really tasty. But when I say hot...to me it's ghost pepper hot. I cry all the way to the end. I pay for it later but it's worth it. What I like most is the family style service where they actually appreciate you. They serve up the goods so hot they burn you through the bag. Uber fresh. Plus, it's good to support local. read more

This Taqueria is fine for the prices but nothing special. The migas had soggy tortilla chips. The Al Pastor was dry and lacked flavor. Their verde salsa had too much lime but a nice heat. Their rojo salsa had a nice smokey punch to it. I wish I could give them a better review since their service was prompt and it seems like a nice family business. If you want authentic Mexican food - like you would experience in Mexico - look no further. Everything is hot and fresh. The salsas are amazing - don't skip the chips and salsa - made with flour tortilla chips like they do in Mexico and fried when you order them. The fresh corn tortillas are also a must. This is the most authentic Mexican food I have found in the Pflugerville/Round Rock area. Give it a try. My go-to is a migas a la mexicana taco on corn - add cheese. Oh and they also have a great ordering system for a food trailer - pagers so you can wait in your car when it's super hot. But their seating area is well equipped also - fully shaded and tons of large fans. read more

Pure goodness. Grabbed a breakfast burrito and that thing sent me back to my childhood in Mexico, that should tell you everything. This spot is amazing! The food is fucking fantastic but the price is a bit much for my liking. The staff who I've interacted with have always been friendly and respectful which is the reason I would not mind going back for more. After the tornado hit they rebuilt the seating area, it's legit for it being outside. I am sure in the summer time because we are in Texas it will not be as great but on a cool morning it's a nice place to stop by after a run, long bike ride or before morning softball games. This is my second visit to this place. It's in the food truck area near Walmart on 79. It's gets busy during lunch time here. They have an enclosed area with tables and chairs to enjoy your food. You order at the window of the food truck where you may see two ladies cooking and another taking orders. The menu is on a huge poster posted on the side of the truck, but I didn't see any prices next to any of the items. On this visit, I ordered the beef fajita and barbacoa taco on a corn tortilla. They asked me for my choice of salsa and I opted for a spicy one. The wait wasn't long for the food to arrive. I liked my beef fajitas better than the barbacoa taco. I got the green salsa for my tacos since it was the spicy salsa. Some of my coworkers had chorizo quesadillas, beef Tortas, and gorditas and I got to taste some of them. All of the food was flavorful as expected of Mexican food. The only drawback was being in the Texas heat. The dining area is in an open space where the flies can get a bit annoying. Overall they have good food, they accept Credit cards and you just have to deal with the flies. Lol read more

Food is great. Tried the Tacos, Gordita, and Tortas. There is a bit of a wait at times and more noticeable the more folks get there. After all though, it is a "food truck" and must take the kitchen space into consideration. Dining area is almost like a deck space outside with shading. My husband and I had lunch here and it was delicious! I had the empanadas plate and he had 3 tacos pastor. The ladies were very friendly and prepared our food quickly. It came out fresh and piping hot. The plate came with 3 empanadas filled with flavorful, but not too spicy, shredded chicken. They were topped with lettuce, tomato, sour cream, and avocado slices. They also had rice and beans on the side. The rice was meh, but the beans were great. They were refried black beans and very tasty. I tried a bite of my husband's taco and it was very flavorful as well. There were big chunks of pineapple, not minced pieces, and the meat was cooked to perfection. Really great flour and corn tortillas. We have had most of the breakfast taco options and all have been very good. I have had the tostadas with beef and thought those were fantastic. The fried corn tortilla stayed crispy despite having a 15 minute drive before could have my lunch. The salsas are all wonderful and very flavorful. The staff is very friendly. read more

I can see why this place has so many good reviews! I ordered the fajita de res and barbacoa taco. They were out of the chicharrón. So good!!! Meat was tender and they gave a nice serving of meat inside the taco. The flour tortillas are homemade and you can even order the tortillas if you want some. The tortilla is not the thick flour tortilla you may be used to at like Taco Cabana as an example. It was yummy and not so thick. They have two sauces.
