Fast and friendly service. Two bartenders on duty during my visit both checked frequently. Margarita was very tasty and not overly sugary. I went here for lunch today with my son. Actually, it was still the a.m., I found out that this place opens at 10 o'clock! Yay me! I got my traditional chicken enchiladas with no cheese and my son got crunchy tacos also with no cheese. We got a big bowl of chunky guacamole. That was amazing! Their chips are so good. They make their own tortillas! They have lunch specials Monday through Friday. Upon entering the restaurant, we were seated promptly, which is nice and we requested our favorite booth and they had no problem accommodating that request. Our server was prompt and kind. Our food was served quickly and just the right temperature. One thing that was new to me today is that I was offered to join a rewards club! All I had to do was write my phone number at the bottom of the ticket and now I am earning points, a.k.a. money to buy food at this restaurant. I absolutely love that! The fajitas were AMAZING!!!!!!!! Both the steak and chicken were super juicy and tender. It stayed hot throughout our meal as well, without it being 'burn your tongue' hot. I also go the Crema Enchiladas. They were good, but the fajitas were the showstopper. The Mangonada margarita with chamoy and it was good! My mother got the pineapple mojito and it was fantastic. We picked this place at a whim on our last day of Christmas in Round Rock. It had fun décor and of course Christmas decorations up throughout from a tree to fake lights outside, see pictures. We arrived not long after it opened for the day so it was not crowded or busy. Our host and our sever were both very nice and the sever was friendly and fast. We started with a Mexican Martini and a small meltdown rita. Shana got coffee too as well as chips and queso with taco meat. The drinks were good, not weak or strong but tasty and the queso was pretty good. The chips were warm which given some thought is rare. Shana got the La Margarita Special and I got chicken fajitas for one. It is usually my go to the first time we try a Mexican food restaurant. They were very good, I was impressed. The tortillas were great and the chicken was flavorful and not tough. Both of which has happened elsewhere, I really enjoyed my meal. SHANA SAYS: The food was solid! I got a Mexican Martini that was super good! Queso was good Salsa was good Chips were food Good Also food Service was great It was our last meal in Round Rock for this staycation and we ended on a good one. Came here for an earlier Saturday dinner a couple weeks ago. My boyfriend and I each ordered a margarita- me a large house frozen and him a regular mango frozen. When our drinks came- I got a small rocks and him a small regular. It took forever for me to flag the waiter down and explain that our drinks were entirely wrong, and he kept insisting it was not and didn't seem to understand what I wanted to order. We then asked for a few more minutes to order and then...crickets. There were a couple people at the bar the waiter knew and for the rest of the night it was pretty much impossible to get him to pay us any attention. Then to top it off- he left the incorrect drinks on the bill! Service was severely lacking. We ordered chips and queso, my boyfriend got one of the combination platters and I got the chile relleño. Both plates were MASSIVE in terms of person. I really enjoyed my chile- the rice was not hot and kinda hard and unseasoned. My boyfriend said he enjoyed his. There are dozens of Mexican places like this in the greater Austin area and I've had better experiences and food at a lot so, it'll take a lot for me to return. read more

My wife and I tried this place this evening. I can only say "Don't go there if you want good food". No flavor in the chicken or shrimp fajitas! The queso tastes like velveeta. . Salsa is horrible. Rice and beans taste like they came out of a box and can. Pricing is way too high. You are better off finding a Taco Bell and I don't recommend that either. I had my usual "go to" dish, Cheese Enchiladas with Green sauce. The green sauce was tangy and fresh. The enchiladas warm, cheesy and gooey yummy yum. I have been eating here since 1985. It is great place for large or smaller parties. My opinion they have the best flour tortillas in central Texas. Fajitas beef can't be beat. Absolutely a must try establishment. Very nice interior and our waiter was attentive. My man crush couldn't decide between the shrimp tacos or fish tacos. He asked if he could get one of each and that request was allowed. Both tacos were so good! My sister ordered the caldo de res. I asked if they had caldo de pollo and they did not. Bummer. I ordered the caldo de res and it was very good!! Lots of chunky veggies. My bowl definitely had more meat than my sister's. I ended up giving her some of my meat as I had a lot. Caldo came with rice which was yummy. Chips and salsa were good but I prefer a tad more heat in my salsa. We plan on going again to try the margaritas! Haven't been here in years as it has had its ups and downs. Decided to try with a small group after church last Sunday. We were all pleasantly surprised at how good and fresh food was. Decent Tex Mex for a decent price. They serve huge portions here as well as complimentary chips and salsa. So you're definitely leaving here stuffed to the gills. My only complaint is that some dishes are a little bland, but then some dishes are extremely salty. I've tried out the burritos, enchiladas, Chile relleno, Changa, chalupa, and even the kid's burgers. Everything is more than edible, but I think that due to the large menu and very large occupancy rate, the food is never consistent. Reviewing after first visit. After years of driving by we finally stopped in to check it out. It's a locally owned restaurant not a chain. Tried their Saturday brunch. One of the worst Tex Mex experiences I've had in a while. My friend and I went last night and were the only young Hispanic/Latino people in the room other than the servers, which should have been the first sign to run lol. We asked to be sat at a booth instead of a table. We waited a while and a waitress never came to greet us. There was an older couple that had been sat at their table after us who one waitress was going to greet first. The waitress's name was Jessica E, according to my receipt. We had to get her attention to let her know that we hadn't seen a waiter yet, either. When she approached the table, she said "sorry guys, I didn't know they'd double booked me." So clearly the communication between the hostesses and waitresses was lacking. But this comment was unprofessional as it makes the restaurant look bad. Instead of saying "sorry," a better approach would be "thanks so much for waiting!" We went ahead and ordered all of our food the second she got to our table. I ordered the $5.95 margarita martini special and even pointed at the happy hour menu to confirm. My friend chimed in and asked if they had any marg flavors. She said, we have mango, it costs extra, but I'll still bring it out for you guys. She made it seem like we were going to be charged the happy hour price. But at the end of the night, we were charged full price. When we asked the waitress, she got defensive and didn't remember having told us this. At that point, we just paid the higher price and called it a night lol. But yet another sign of incompetence from the staff here. The food was sub-par at best. We got the $12 loaded queso fiesta. Cheese was a bright yellow, which is a red flag. I grew up on velveeta cheese, and this tasted very similar. My friend got enchiladas with a crunchy taco on the side. That chicken was okay, but tastes like someone threw it into a crockpot and only put minimal spices lol. It was also stringy and hard to chew. My chicken fajita quesadilla tasted off and was so bad I stopped eating and we had to ask for a refund. Which we did get. But I've tasted better pre-cooked, pre-sliced frozen chicken at home. This was a completely different chicken from what my friend got, which is how we knew the difference. My chicken did not taste fresh at all. The waitress was super understanding about my quesadillas, but she did say the manager was going to come out and talk to us-- which he never did. We really were not interested in speaking with the manager, there was nothing else to say. But if you tell us the manager is coming to speak with us, again, that is what should happen lol. If it's a packed night and he can't come see us, we totally understand. Just maybe don't offer that to us LOL. I will leave the reader to come to their own conclusions as to why we were given worse service from every table around us. I'm not sure if the waitress was new, it was a lack of training, etc. I feel we remained calm and respectful to the waitress despite our experience here. But service aside, the food was still not great. I would only recommend this place for the salsa, which was delicious!! And the happy hour drinks lol. With so many other great Tex Mex spots out there, my money would have been better spent literally anywhere else, even at Taco Bell. And since I see the owner Eli comments on every post, I am looking forward to hearing from you. read more

One thing I know about myself is that I love Mexican/Tex-Mex food. No reason to ask for "to go" boxes when we're finished since I've usually cleaned my plate - until today. We had some out-of-town company and since we had already visited our 5-star choice, Blue Corn Harvest in Georgetown, we decided to try someplace new which none of us had been to previously. We should have made a repeat visit to Blue Corn or another primo spot - Mickey V's Tacos on the Georgetown Square. The two stars that I'm giving La Margarita is generous and I'm only doing this because our server was professional, prompt and courteous plus the chips & salsa were pretty good. (Had better.) It went downhill from there. Two of us selected the "Especial" from the Lunch Specials which featured two beef enchiladas, one beef taco, rice & charro beans. The beef entrees were heavily seasoned with simple chile power & salt - or at least that's how it tasted. Almost inedible. They should call it "Taco Bell on a Plate". And as we all know, TB is awful! Charro Beans were bland and frankly the ones that I pick up (canned) at HEB are better. Out of curiosity, we also ordered the Avocado Sopresa - Avocado filled with chicken & cheese then fried in a crunchy breaded shell. Nothing special. When there are so many more options in the area, it blows my mind why this place is crowded - especially on the weekends. I know they've been in business for many, many years, but I think this is a great example of a place that maybe once was really good, but has slid downhill over the years. Suggestion - I would ditch at least 1/2 of the menu. Whenever a restaurant has a menu that resembles a book and doesn't focus their efforts on the quality/taste of the food rather than the number of items they can crowd on their multi-page menu, it's usually a red flag. This definitely applies to La Margarita. No interest in returning. read more

Let me start by saying that this place has some of the best salsa that I have tried here in Austin yet. I could not stop eating it. We had a meeting their with a bunch of people and they took great care of everyone there. Really enjoyable place to have a party at. Then I got to eat their food and was blown away by that.
