Heard some good reviews, so we decided to try it out. First impressions were blah, bland and food had no flavor. We came in for breakfast, ordered nuevos rancheros with scrambled eggs and sausage patty, potatoes and refried beans. As you can see no seasoning to potatoes nor the rest of the food. They gave us eggs over easy, I spoke to cashier that we ordered scrambled eggs and she apologized, came to our table with the scrambled eggs, took our plate to the kitchen and switched out the eggs. Tortillas were store bought. I was hoping for homemade. better luck next time. I was hoping it lived up to all the hype. not a good first impression sorry just my opinion

Fluffy Tacos! Must I say more? This place might've ruined tacos for me. I don't know if I'll ever be able to go back to normal corn or flour tortillas again. Sometimes it can be hit or miss; the first time was the best. However, my last visit was a bit disappointing as the tacos were a little oily. I don't mind them being fried, but maybe they could've drained them better, instead of there being a pool of oil under the tacos (soggy instead of somewhat flaky n crispy). During lunch, this place can get pretty busy. I got up to throw some trash away, I hadn't even finished my meal! And the server ushered in more people to start hovering around, pulling back my chairs and sitting down (I was two feet away and audibly complained). No one gave a crap, it was infuriating! The staff seemed more interested in seating new customers than catering to existing ones. I even had to scramble to gather my belongings. Like who the heck does that to a paying customer? I literally had to grab my food from the table as they sat down looking at me. I walked out before I started a scene, cause that soooo disrespectful in my opinion. Despite the completely crap service, I enjoy the puffy tacos here. However, don't expect much in terms of service; you're just a number here. You'll order from a window, get your food in a Styrofoam tray, and be ushered out the door as soon as they can get you too. The fluffy tacos are good, but they're not good enough to put up with being treated like garbage. I definitely won't be coming back here!

Tio Dans Puffy Taco is a local hot spot known for good food and some of the best Breakfast Tacos in Round Rock. If the number of people seated and waiting for togo orders is a good sign of their success, then they are very successful. The food here is absolutely amazing. The variety and taste is perfect. Reminds me of "Baja style" Mexican food. I reserved an order of breakfast tacos here for a Mens group at my church and they loved them. I tried to limit them to three tacos each, but that didn't last long. The men loved them. If you can call in your order to reduce the wait for pick up orders. The food is made to order so be prepared to wait. Hey, take this time to make some new friends. Share your table. Plan a trip to Round Rock and visit Tio Dans Puffy Taco. It's well worth the trip. Let's get down to it. Second trip. Just as great. Fair pricing for the amount of food you get. Gotta love it!

Tio Dan Puffy Tacos offers great value as the pricing for their delicious food is very fair. A big surprise is how enormous their menu is. They have a huge variety of taco options, including breakfast and lunch tacos. Not only that, but they also serve fish, burgers, wings, chicken fried steak, and plenty of other items. Surprisingly, we've tried most of the menu, and everything has been at least decent, if not great. My son is a cheeseburger specialist, and he gives the Cheeseburger here 5 stars. It's only $8 and comes with fries and a drink which is outstanding. It gets busy during breakfast and lunch hours. So expect a little bit of a wait before your food comes out. Definitely give Tio Dan's a visit. The variety is huge as I explained, which makes it easier for everyone in your group to pick something they're in the mood for.

2 ground beef tacos and on breakfast puffy

Honestly we walked in to try out these "puffy taco" idea. It was interesting- the filling was tasty but the puffy taco was shell is fried in order to puff-up and was extremely greasy. (Dripping). It sort of reminded me on an arepa- taste wise. So we ordered one breakfast taco with egg cheese and sausage which ( the insides) was very tasty; and 2 ground beef puffy taco which dripped grease and had ground meat, bean, guacamole, lettuce tomatoe and cheese: and tasted okay (except for the excess grease) so we ate the insides and left most of the shells. Overall Interesting- don't think we'll be back for puffy tacos but some of their other menu options looked tasty that... maybe... cheap lunch options... maybe

Great food, but over priced and served on disposable ware. Lunch special with 1 extra puffy taco was $18. At that price, should be on regular plates or make it cheaper to match the value.

We were in this area to get my car fixed and were looking for a taco breakfast place, so glad we found this place! We went there early in the morning (around 8:30-9?) and this place was packed already! So many people for dine-in and also for take-out. You place an order and pay at the counter and you can grab any table you'd like. They have great variety of menu and price was very reasonable as well. We got chicken wings with buffalo sauce, medium hot and some breakfast tacos which were beef, fish, potato & cheese, eggs & chorizo, all of them were delicious! The only minor issue for us was they don't sell booze here, I wish they had some beer or something, but I'm sure most people don't really need booze for breakfast lol

10/10 ALWAYS RECOMMEND! Born & raised in Round Rock, and I'm a true Tio Dan Puffy Taco's customer - ever since the other location on Round Rock Ave (IF YOU KNOW, YOU KNOW!) This place is where my loyalty lies. They've been getting my money for YEARS, and never disappoints. Til this day, literally the best tacos in the area, hands down. Family oriented, speedy service and anything you order is guaranteed to taste good. How can you not love this place. If you haven't been here, come & thank me later! *leaving this review as I sit at the table on 6/7/2021

They literally have the worst taste of meat ever..food so greasy and bold. The service is alright they took 24 min to make 2 tacos two tacos bro wasted my whole 30 min break on food I didn't even eat.

I walked into this place one morning to find delightful blue ambiance, and a friendly cashier taking orders. I could tell right away that there were regulars who frequent this taqueria, as they too trickled in and the cashier knew them by name and face. That's always settling for a first time visitor. I ordered my favorite style of taco (potato, egg, and cheese) but with a puffy shell. Little did I know how much food I was receiving! I couldn't eat them all in one setting, so I ate the rest about an hour later. Next time, I shall order two.

    Puffy taco, barbacoa, carnitas
    Andrew S.

This was a solid place for some Tex-Mex tacos. The Puffy taco was better than expected; it's like a crispy taco with ground beef, lettuce, cheese, and guacamole, but the tortilla is puffy and fried which gives the taco a nice texture. The barbacoa taco was pretty authentic, although the corn tortilla was kind of falling apart while eating it. I also ordered a carnitas taco but what I got seemed more like a chicharrón taco-- not sure if there was a mix up. It was very busy when I went, probably took 20-30 minutes to get the food.

Ask the Community - Tio Dan Puffy Tacos

    Is this Indian style food?

Tio Dan's is great central Texas Tex-Mex style food. They have breakfast tacos, breakfast and lunch plates, affordable seafood, hamburgers and sides. You can't go wrong, everything is good.

Do they serve breakfast tacos all day?

Yes they do with fresh homemade flour tortillas

Is this place closed? I went by there today and it looks to be all roped off. Update: After…

    They have moved!!

Our server couldn't have been more friendly and outgoing. She was swamped (it was prom night with lots of formally clad students dining in) but never broke a sweat, never made us feel rushed or unattended and had a big smile from ear to ear throughout. I can't remember her name but I believe she is one of the owners daughters - and she's a real asset to the restaurant. My husband had a combination platter with all the favorites - enchiladas, taco, and a tamale, which he thoroughly enjoyed. I opted for something that was a little less---well, you know----but when in Rome---don't eat the spinach and mushrooms----get the tacos, savor the enchiladas. They know what they're doing and next visit I will lean into their expertise, enhanced by another Mexican martini. Buen provecho!

It's a little overpriced for what it is but it gets the job done. FAST FACTS: * Parking - lot out from of the building with plenty of spots * Happy Hour - couldn't find updated days and hours but they do have HH specials * Lunch specials from 11 am to 4 pm Monday through Friday SERVICE - We arrived around 6:30 pm on a Monday and they weren't busy at all (although it was Cinco de Mayo and they got busier as the night went on). We were seated right away and had complimentary chips and salsa brought to the table immediately (they're very mediocre). Our server, Fatima, made sure we had refills throughout the meal and the food came out quickly. PRICING - The total was $65.45 after tax ($4.99) but before tip for a Burros queso ($10.49), shredded chicken quesadilla ($14.99), Javier's plate ($17.49), and carne asada ($17.49). For basic Tex Mex, it seemed a little overpriced but the portion sizes are good. BURROS QUESO (6/10) - This is a basic chili con queso... it's topped with ground beef, guacamole, and pico but not much. I don't think I'd order this again because it isn't worth it for the price... I'd rather just order a small chili con queso. SHREDDED CHICKEN QUESADILLA (6/10) - It's a pretty standard chicken quesadilla served with shredded lettuce, pico, sour cream, and guacamole. You do get plenty of shredded chicken inside! This is great to split as an appetizer or get as an entree. I'd order this again. JAVIER'S PLATE (6/10) - It's a good portion size but nothing special. The grilled skirt steak had a nice flavor but is kinda hard to cut up and eat. You get rice, beans, and a small tortilla cup with lettuce, pico, and guacamole. I probably wouldn't order this again because I'd rather try other things. CARNE ASADA (6/10) - Again, it's a good portion size but nothing special. The grilled chicken breast is the same price as the diced skirt steak which doesn't quite make sense to me but you get a decent amount of sautéed onion, tomatoes, serano peppers, mushrooms, and zucchini. Again, you get rice, beans, and a small tortilla cup with lettuce, pico, and guacamole. I'd order this again if I want to get in some veggies with my meal. This was my first visit to Burros Tex Mex Bar and Grill and I probably won't rush to come back because there are other Tex Mex restaurants nearby that I prefer. It wasn't bad by any means, it just doesn't stand out (especially for the price). But, in a pinch, I'd stop by again if I was nearby and in the mood for Tex Mex.

It seemed like they had reopened or something, seemed like most of the attention was in the back and not out front but they our server came by and dropped of some chips and salsa. I looked at the menu and it was very Texmex, so much so that I didn't feel any guilt whatsoever in ordering hard shell tacos. Since we already got the chips we decided to get their queso as well. The food basically all arrived at the same time and the queso was served in a small soup cup-TONs of their queso and since it was family, double dipping the queso into the salsa was not judged; pretty decent. My tacos were good-the lettuce, tomatoes and cheese were just kind of tossed on top and not in but I guess that's what I get for ordering hard shell tacos. I should have gone full Taco Bell and just gotten the beef, the shredded chicken was just ok.
