This restaurant continues to be a favorite of mine. This is truly Mexican food at its finest. It's always made to order. They have wonderful flautas, which is what I had today and my husband had shrimp enchiladas. Their chips are always fresh as their hot salsa and their guacamole. Their service is excellent. My favorite server's name is Vicki and she always has a smile that makes you smile back. She always serves us promptly and she even remembers what I like. This restaurant is a great place for a casual lunch or casual dinner as it is very casual inside. You would not want to take a new date here. They have takeout and there's a takeout window outside. There is also outside seating so bring the dog! They are closed on Tuesday and Sunday. Their prices are very affordable and they are even less if you pay cash. I've eaten at this restaurant more than any other Yelper. Seriously. When I moved to Georgetown my freshman year of high school, it was shortly after El Charrito opened. I used to eat here two or even three times a day on occasion back then and just tonight drove an hour in rush hour traffic to have: Three beef fajita tacos ala carte with guacamole I'll put theirs up against any beef fajita tacos in the central Texas area any day of the week. These tacos were so good, and the prices are fantastic. I brought cash because I read the reviews beforehand, but they should really put on their menu that the listed prices are cash prices and that there is an upcharge with credit cards as it doesn't say that anywhere. For takeout, you order at the window and wait outside. They have several picnic tables. There is also an indoor dining area that opens later in the morning than the takeout window. I had two breakfast tacos and was very satisfied with their size and price at $3 each. I had the chorizo and potato taco and the sausage and egg taco. Enchiladas and one taco carbon and one taco guisada. The rice and beans were bland and flavorless, the enchiladas were just ok. The taco carbon was absolutely gross and flavorless. The guisada meat tasted overcooked and was extremely salty but lacked any other flavor. I did not taste any chilis what so ever. No garlic, cilantro, onion or lime in anything they cooked. There was a small hair in my salsa. The server was very nice and she was doing a good job but the food was just soooooo underwhelming that it was hard to ignore. I probably won't be back. The food looked amazing but once I tasted it I was just so sad but it wasn't horrible. It was just ok. Probably won't return as there are so many amazing spots in the area. read more

First I want to share this place is walk up and order only until 11. We went planning on sitting in a restaurant and eating, and that was not an option before 11. Ordered breakfast tacos for Saturday morning before sports day. People waiting looked like they had been there awhile so we decided to place our order, go get gas and come back. First time trying this and I ordered it via Favor. This was a lot of food for not that much. I believe this was $13 or so in total. The enchiladas were buried under the sauce but they were very good and spicy. I was impressed with the beans and rice honestly which had great flavor. The tacos were okay, just plain. I was really looking forward to trying this place based on the recommendations, but unfortunately, it didn't live up to the hype. I ordered a red cheese enchilada and a small chips and queso for takeout. I'm a picky eater, so I had high hopes, but the food was disappointing and didn't hit the spot at all. To make things worse, the lady who helped me mentioned that takeout orders are priced higher, which I found strange. I was also charged for a large chips and queso instead of a small, which felt unfair considering the portions. I work hard for my money, so I'll definitely be asking about that. The smell of mold, mildew and Fabuloso knocks you down the second you walk in the door. Most tables that haven't been cleaned from the last customer were still dirty. And we watched people come in and sit at these dirty tables. I unrolled my silverware that was in a napkin and the fork had dried rice stuck on it. Breakfast tacos were generic. The second time, having tacos here and simple eggs, potato, & sausage and / or bacon were good. Not much flavor, but they give you salt packets and good salsa that taste like Taco Cabana's. Chorizo needed some draining of the grease cause it was soaking in it. I have also had their lunch tostada platter, and it was good. The container didn't have compartments to divide up the food, so it was all mixed together once I arrived at home. read more

We have been eating here since they opened. We have never gotten a bad meal here. We love this restaurant more than all others.

The food was fine but the smell of the bathroom permeated the restaurant. I don't mean air freshener, I mean urine. So much so that my clothes and goat smelled like urine for a good 30 minutes in my car, after I had left the restaurant. Really bad. read more

The only reason I'm giving 2 star is because the server was nice, food was not even to be called Mexican food. Food tasted like it was previously cooked and they just dumped it in the fryer so the meet inside was dry. We order the combo plate which came with tamale ( see picture, yes that's considered a tamale) low key thought they had given me 2 enchiladas and a crispy taco which the shell came apart as soon as you bite into it. Salsa was only good thing but would not recommend food at this location definitely missing the Mexican in it. Ps: bathrooms are a health code violation and pretty sure COVID started there. read more

This little Tex-Mex establishment in Georgetown doesn't look like much, but inside awaits some of the best Tex-Mex in the area. Not only that, but it is extremely affordable. There's a good variety of platters, variety plates and sides, including charro beans, which many Tex-Mex places have quit having since the pandemic. The food was piping hot and the tortillas very fresh and tasted homemade. This place deserves more patronage and I hope that more folks will start discovering it again and frequenting it because it is a Georgetown treasure, which has been in operation continuously since 1995. read more

Maybe we were here on an off day? Daylight savings maybe threw them off? To start, the chips and salsa were maybe 1 stars. The salsa was ice cold and the chips were stale. They brought us a new basket and they were better but seemed like store bought chips. Still somewhat stale but were hot. I ordered a small bowl of tortilla soup, server came back and said they didn't have it! So instead I ordered the shrimp enchiladas requested flour tortillas, they obliged. They also let me pick two items off of the side item list instead of beans and rice. I chose a crispy beef taco and sour cream. Worked out great. The enchiladas came with red sauce, guacamole, and pico. They were delicious. Although I'm used to seafood enchiladas coming with a white sauce, this sauce was perfect. There were lots of chopped shrimp up inside. 5 stars! My husband's ground beef nachos were decent. They were on a heartier home made chip with beans and cheese and a scoop of guacamole. The guacamole was just ok. Seemed like the nachos needed something more. 3 stars. We also ordered the large queso. It wasn't Torchy's good but better than many others I've had. 4 stars. We brought half of it home it was so big They prefer cash payment. Will only take credit over $10 but will still ask for cash. It's ok since this place is pretty affordable. Came here for brunch with my friend, and I was pleasantly surprised at how good their tacos and other food were. The place is small with about 7-8 tables. When our food came out, the portion was pretty big. I love everything with cheese on it, and I really loved how much mozzarella cheese they added to my plate. There is a parking lot attached to the restaurant, but it seems to get pretty packed as it approaches lunch time. $10 min for credit card. read more

El Charrito is the best kind of classic, old school Tex-Mex, the kind that's fast disappearing, displaced by (excellent) authentic "interior Mexican," "street tacos" (some great, some not), and what Texas Monthly has called "fajita & 'rita" chain restaurants (mostly terrible). Yeah, the building looks like it might fall down, the credit card reader is often on the fritz, and they're understaffed sometimes (like any small, family-owned restaurant). But the food is absolutely delicious and entirely scratch-made, the portions are generous, the prices are low, and the service is usually good, even if the English isn't. *If you want diced onion on top of your enchiladas, you'll have to ask for it, but the request will elicit a knowing grin from your server. read more

We showed up at 11:30 am and were promptly seated, this is a small dining room so coming early is better. My wife really loved her Wednesday lunch special of two enchiladas suiza with guacamole, rice and beans....chicken enchiladas...I enjoyed a few bites too. I tried to limit my carbs by getting and devouring the beef fajitas platter, came with 3 flour tortillas, guacamole, rice and a cup of some of the best pintos I've ever had, the fajitas had good flavor, loved the caramelized onions and peppers...for around $12.00. There are probably 15 tables in here, it's a little mom and pop that's been around since 1995, and they know how to cook...we'll definitely be back for more. read more
