We're very particular about our Mexican food and there aren't many places we go often - Jaliscos is an exception. But you have to know what to order! Their conventional Tex Mex is just okay. You can skip the street tacos. But the enchiladas? Amazing! I order the Spicy Enchiladas Frescas and no other restaurant even comes close, they are chicken enchiladas covered in a spicy red sauce that is incredible (but hot!) It's unlike anything I've had and can't find them anywhere else. The chips and salsa are delicious and fresh every time. The server was pleasant and consistently rounded with us! Here's where we went wrong . I did a fast glance of the menu and saw "street tacos" . Sadly, Jaliscos doesn't have birria or tripas, but they do have barbicoa. I would say that the best tasting item on the menu were the chips and salsa. The chips were freshly made and the salsa had a good kick! I ordered two barbicoa and one beef rib tacos and my husband ordered chimichangas. Everything was bland! I really wanted to like this place and was surprised at how bland and not good the food was. To start, you seat yourself. It took awhile before someone came over to greet us and take our drink order. There seemed to be one waitress working the room and cleaning the tables. They brought us menus along with our waters and my husband's ice cold bottle of beer which he enjoyed. You get chips and salsa which were good - Thick cut, my husband added salt to his. The thin red salsa was medium in heat level. I ordered a cup of queso that ended up being the best part of the meal. It is similar to velveeta with rotel in it. We liked that they had lunch specials. The menu also states they do brunch during the week until 12 but I didn't see anything on the menu for it. We arrived shortly before noon on a Monday so possibly it's a separate menu they didn't offer us. My husband got lunch chicken quesadillas. He enjoyed them. It was 4 pieces of thin quesadilla with chicken, cheese and a light amount of diced onion. It came with a spoonful of guacamole, sour cream, & lettuce with a couple pickled jalapeños on it. I got a plate that allowed me to try a few things- a cheese enchilada, crispy beef taco, and what was supposed to be 5 bean & cheese nachos with side of jalapenos, rice & beans. The beef in the taco was flavorless but I appreciated it wasn't greasy. The cheese enchilada was okay. The bean & cheese nachos were just 5 tortilla chips with their queso drizzled on them; no beans. I had 4 slices of jalapeno so didn't even have enough for all the nachos let alone enchilada. The rice and beans were bland. I could have asked for more jalapenos or given feedback on the meal had anyone come checked on us (again, one busy waitress working the room so I didn't bother to flag her down). After being done for a little bit and not being brought the check, we decided to go up to the counter and ask to pay. As we were walking to the counter she said she'd be right there- then proceeded to clean two tables. They definitely need to improve the food & service before I will be back. I love supporting small & local but I have to draw the line here. If they fixed up their patio and served margaritas, I'd potentially go back just for a drink & queso. read more

Food had no flavor. We love authentic Mexican, which typically explodes with all kinds of flavor. This was the opposite. Very bland. Everything we had was without flavor. Affordable Mexican food downtown. We've been to this place a few times now. It's never too busy and I really enjoyed their chicken fajitas. Two people could probably split one dish here fairly often. This place has some great outdoor area but they don't really use them. I wish they would start service out there as I think it would do really well for downtown. A Tex-Mex staple of downtown Mansfield, TJ recently underwent a complete interior renovation (paint) and it looks 200% better than it previously did. It appears also that they're in the process of finishing out an outdoor area which will be a nice compliment to the tiny but interesting area. The menu seems to have grown some since my initial visit and I was pleased to see weekend-brunch items containing all things eggs, Chorizo, tortilla and Menudo. For my visit though I opted for the spicy chicken enchiladas. The serving size is standard: 3 enchiladas, rice, beans. You could tell it was freshly prepared as the plate wasn't molten-lava-hot nor were the beans crusty and dry on top. I really appreciate that. What hurts though is the lack of flavor. Almost as if there's no love in the preparation. For instance, while the enchiladas were stuffed with freshly-shredded chicken (beware of bones and "nasty" bits), it simply didn't have any flavor. No seasoning whatsoever which is sad. Toss in a little roasted garlic or jalapeno, some cumin or pepper with that meat and you'd have a winner. The same could be said for the Sour Cream enchiladas my wife ordered. The "sauce" wasn't very creamy and the chicken, again, just shredded (possibly boiled) rolled in a tortillas and sauced. I really hope they can get it together as I would much rather patronize a family business than a corporate one but, as Dirty Harry once said....."A man's got to know his limitations" and this man has limits on his eats read more

This place is near the house and I was craving something that is somewhat authentic mexican. Needless to say, not impressed. For me, food is super important, whereas, service is almost as important. As for the food, I ordered Carne Asada. My entree was similar to a thin piece of beef jerky. The rice and beans were average, not bad. I enjoyed the chips just because I was pretty hungry and they were crunchy and likely deep fried. The salsa was a typical red salsa with a tiny bit of heat, not very flavorful. The mexican rice had no flavor, when you ate it but had an after taste that made you think of how urine smells! I did not eat hardly any of the food and actually went through a drive-thru when we left! My husband ordered the combination fajitas (chicken & beef). First lets say there were no bell peppers! Next the chicken and beef both tasted like they were BOILED! They were watery with NO seasoning what so ever! He rarely complains and was ready to say something, it was that bad!!! It is pretty bad when a mexican restraunt, not a tex-mex but an actual mexcian restraunt can't get anything right!! Even the tortilas were gross!!! My family and I go here every once in awhile because it is super close to my house, when we don't feel like making the drive to Arlington or FTW. The food is descent. Its a small place. They do have a great selection of import beers. Serving size portions are great for two to share. You can get plates for under $10. My husband really loves their breakfast, Mexican style chorizo and egg with potato and fresh flour tortillas. Breakfast is definitely your traditional Mexican style breakfast( Rice and beans served with your eggs). They serve menudo and barbacoa on Sundays. If i had to choose my favorite food from here it would probably be the nachos. This place is probably the most descent mexican place to eat in all Mansfield. read more
