Loved it. We are on a cross country road trip from California to New Orleans. Decided to stop in. Sweetest wait staff. Food was excellent. Very very good. BEST MEXICAN FOOD IN LUFKIN The atmosphere when you walk in is chill and the chairs and booth almost resemble a throne of sorts. The music being played was not overwhelmingly loud, and alcohol was not all in your face and the bar is even kinda hidden. This is a place where you seat yourself our server was carol he did amazing. He was really peppy and welcoming to me and my parents when I asked if they have warm drinks he immediately recommended the hot chocolate (which was amazing 10/10). He made the experience absolutely amazing. The food came out rather quickly and was delicious. I got the laddies plate the taco it came with was crunchy and not soggy and I could tell that these had been made and not just reheated. Now im not enchilada person but if im ever im the mood for one I know where to go. The flavors complemented each other so well I was blown away. The rice was warm and spiced well and by adding sour cream makes it creamy with amazing flavor. This is a place where you can count on the people making the food are passionate about what they make. This place made me feel like i was sitting at a friends dinner table and eating a nostalgic Mexican dish that there mother made. YES!!!!! I FINALLY FOUND AN AUTHENTIC MEXICAN RESTAURANT IN TEXAS!!!!! I had to deal with "New Mexican" cuisine for a year and I've only encountered "Tex-Mex" upon moving to Texas. Is a little al pastor really that hard to come by?? So, when the boyfriend suggested getting Mexican food for dinner, I was VERY skeptical. Others had recommended this place to us, so we figured it was worth a shot. I called to check the restaurants hours, and was greeted in Spanish. "Awesome," I thought, "This just may be the real deal." First good sign. When we walked into the restaurant, there were shelves of Mexican candies and treats for sale. Second good sign. We didn't realize that it's a "seat yourself" type of joint, so we awkwardly waited at the front until a friendly waitress directed us to a table and brought us menus. When we got seated, homemade tortilla chips (fresh out of the fryer!) and salsa were brought to our table. Homemade and delicious! Third good sign. Our waitress brought us a second basket when we finished our first. Fourth good sign!! But, still a skeptic, I ordered the Laddie's plate, which included 1 crispy taco, 1 enchilada (I got chicken), rice, guacomole, and salad, to sample their basics. If they can do their basics right, they can only move up from there in my book. I IMMEDIATELY regretted my order the moment the boyfriend's TACOS AL CARBON plate came out. O.M.G. I eyes ogled the steaming hot strips of meat tucked in between a wonderfully grilled tortilla - there were three of them. The boyfriend is getting better at mind reading, so he gave me a few pieces of meat to try, and again. O.M.G. it was so delicious. I can't describe the exact taste, but it was marinated so well. It was not salty, just full of flavor and smokiness. I enjoyed my enchilada and crispy taco, but I knew that I could've done better. I love this place. Good food, excellent service, and fantastic prices. If you go on Sunday mornings they offer a "family sized" Carnitas plate (literally 1lb of carnitas), with a side of refried beans, cilantro and onions. Everything I've had on the menu has been great and freshly made. The flautas are nice and crisp, the chilaquiles are tasty, and their green sauce has a nice bite to it. The tacos are awesome too: the tacos al pastor are done just right (not greasy or watery) and the breakfast tacos are freshly made with ample filling. The food was pretty average. I was impressed by the rice however. It was above average. The store bought tortillas took it back down. The queso was pretty decent and the salsa was good but the chips were stale. My friend got the fajitas and I was jealous. We just missed breakfast which ends at 11 am but I would like to try their breakfast. They speak very little English there so a little Spanish goes a long way. read more

Came here for dinner on a Sunday evening with my girlfriend. This restaurant was recommended to us as the best Mexican restaurant in Lufkin. After eating here, I can't argue with that. I love the atmosphere in here. It's extremely simple and not very aesthetically pleasing. But for some reason...it feels like home. One of the patrons played some Mexican music from the jukebox, which made the vibe feel even better. Our friendly server took our order. I ordered the tacos al carbon plate. The food came out pretty quickly, and it was PIPING HOT! I took a piece of the fajita beef from my taco just to try it out. It was sweet, and seasoned to perfection. Honestly, probably one of the best tasting fajita beef I've ever had. This is one of those restaurants that you would travel miles and miles to eat at. This authentic Mexican restaurant has the best enchiladas I have ever had anywhere. I prefer a mild flavor and this plate had perfect beans, rice and enchiladas for my taste. My husband got the Caldo Jalisco (seafood soup) and my father-in-law got the Charo Beans. Everything was great and the service is friendly and fast. The atmosphere is also very authentic from the Novelas on the TV to the hot pink walls in the ladies room and the freezer of paletas by the cash register. The food was rather hit or mess the chili can queso so was not good the salsa was chunky and nice. Green sauce burnt my mouth! The taco was excellent the cheese enchilada was excellent everything else was not as spectacular as the reviews make it sound. I was very disappointed after reading the reviews at the food that was served. I had to ask for hot chips. The lady was nice but nothing that stood out. I go for the breakfast tacos (SUPER TACO is only $1.75 and fills you up) or a heaping plate of perfect migas most mornings (after a hard workout at the Planet Fitness nearby, I need to pack on the post-workout calories), but every menu item I have tried has been the best. Seafood cocktails were fantastic! Service was underwhelming. Prices are affordable. My wife and I stopped by for our first time here. One entree was served while we were still dining on our seafood cocktails. Waiting for the arrival of the other entree and for additional napkins we requested, we finished our iced tea. We had to flag down our server to remind her of our request for napkins and to request iced tea refills. When asked about the second entree, she had not written it on her tab and had to re-take the order for the other entree. The server had served me my wife's steak, which had gotten cold by this time. This is the real deal. Everything we had was fresh and tasty. Carne asada was great. Guacamole was very fresh (creamy and not loaded with lime juice to keep it from spoiling; it was obviously made fresh mere seconds before hitting the plate). Same for the tortillas. Was my first foray into traditional Mexican breakfast. I had chilequiles and my husband had migas with a taco added. Both plates included refried beans and papas (fried potatoes). Two kinds of salsa were good but I would warn folks that the green is spicy! All the food was piping hot, fresh and made us wish we lived closer to Lufkin. The service was good. You could tell they serve many regular customers. It was mid-morning,10:00 on a Monday, and the place was nearly at capacity. Full parking lot is normally a good sign. I should also add a comment about how low the prices are. My plate FULL of food was $4.50. If you are passing through, take the business route and have a really good meal. read more

What a find! Staying at a motel right next door. So decided to give it a try for dinner and I'm glad I did. When you sit down, they bring a bowl of fresh chips, some warm red sauce (only so-so), & Pico (great) for the chips and squirt bottles of red & green sauce (both excellent). One of their daily specials was parillada mixta for under $10. Mix of fajita beef, chicken, and shrimp along with grilled onions and a grilled jalapeño and grilled green onion. Very tasty and was served with some of the best charro beans I've ever had. Being as this a Mexican seafood restaurant, I also ordered a ceviche tostada. It was very fresh and very tasty. The red & green sauces were great on everything. Will definitely be back, probably for breakfast tomorrow. They are open 6am-10pm! read more
