The salsa and pico de gallo are fantastic. The jalepeno salsa in the squeeze bottle is something special.

Great food and great service. If you sleep on this restuarant because of outside appearance you have missed the boat on great authentic Mexican

This is what is suppose to be the chilaquiles!! It's literally potato chips with picante sauce and cheese! Gross!!

The food was horrible. I ordered the chilaquiles and it was literally chips with cheese on it. The potatoes had no flavor whatsoever! The tortillas are store bought! June only thing good about this place are the waitresses. Very friendly!

YES!!!!! I FINALLY FOUND AN AUTHENTIC MEXICAN RESTAURANT IN TEXAS!!!!! I had to deal with "New Mexican" cuisine for a year and I've only encountered "Tex-Mex" upon moving to Texas. Is a little al pastor really that hard to come by?? So, when the boyfriend suggested getting Mexican food for dinner, I was VERY skeptical. Others had recommended this place to us, so we figured it was worth a shot. I called to check the restaurants hours, and was greeted in Spanish. "Awesome," I thought, "This just may be the real deal." First good sign. When we walked into the restaurant, there were shelves of Mexican candies and treats for sale. Second good sign. We didn't realize that it's a "seat yourself" type of joint, so we awkwardly waited at the front until a friendly waitress directed us to a table and brought us menus. When we got seated, homemade tortilla chips (fresh out of the fryer!) and salsa were brought to our table. Homemade and delicious! Third good sign. Our waitress brought us a second basket when we finished our first. Fourth good sign!! But, still a skeptic, I ordered the Laddie's plate, which included 1 crispy taco, 1 enchilada (I got chicken), rice, guacomole, and salad, to sample their basics. If they can do their basics right, they can only move up from there in my book. I IMMEDIATELY regretted my order the moment the boyfriend's TACOS AL CARBON plate came out. O.M.G. I eyes ogled the steaming hot strips of meat tucked in between a wonderfully grilled tortilla - there were three of them. The boyfriend is getting better at mind reading, so he gave me a few pieces of meat to try, and again. O.M.G. it was so delicious. I can't describe the exact taste, but it was marinated so well. It was not salty, just full of flavor and smokiness. I enjoyed my enchilada and crispy taco, but I knew that I could've done better. I am no longer a skeptic of Texan Mexican food as long as I go to Jalisco!

I love this place. Good food, excellent service, and fantastic prices. If you go on Sunday mornings they offer a "family sized" Carnitas plate (literally 1lb of carnitas), with a side of refried beans, cilantro and onions. Everything I've had on the menu has been great and freshly made. The flautas are nice and crisp, the chilaquiles are tasty, and their green sauce has a nice bite to it. The tacos are awesome too: the tacos al pastor are done just right (not greasy or watery) and the breakfast tacos are freshly made with ample filling. Ask for "Noel", he's a great waiter and very attentive.

Small but a hidden jewel! The service was friendly and the food so good! We ordered the small quesadilla and fajitas for 2 for our table of 3 people and had leftovers. We will definitely be back!

This authentic Mexican restaurant has the best enchiladas I have ever had anywhere. I prefer a mild flavor and this plate had perfect beans, rice and enchiladas for my taste. My husband got the Caldo Jalisco (seafood soup) and my father-in-law got the Charo Beans. Everything was great and the service is friendly and fast. The atmosphere is also very authentic from the Novelas on the TV to the hot pink walls in the ladies room and the freezer of paletas by the cash register. I always make going to Taqueria Jalisco a priority every time we visit Lufkin!

No this is not good :(

The Tex-Mex options here involve your normies such as enchiladas, quesadillas, burritos, fajitas, nachos, and tacos. All of these (or a combination of these) are part of the express lunch menu which is what we usually order. Most of the time, people in our group get some sort of enchiladas with the favorites being the avocado or the verde due to the sauces and cheesiness mixed in. The avocado is probably my favorite since I'm an avocado lover with the taste and texture. Other favorites are the street tacos where it comes with three tacos and the rice and beans. These tacos are quite large so it's not the traditional mexican street tacos with the onions/cilantro on the miniature tortillas. They are also packed and I mean PACKED with proteins; I've only gotten the al pastor cause I keep coming back to it. Something about it that makes it addicting with the tenderness of the meat and spices. We'll have to try dinner here sometime cause they have quite the selection of entrees such as the drunken shrimp, fajita platter, and pollo poblano. Bueno Trabajo Herraduras!

The booths were tall and secluded so that's a plus and the food was amazing. The salsa they served was so good, I had to force myself not to eat it all with the chips and the main dish itself was so fresh and flavorful. I got the California bowl and my husband got a chicken plate and it was just great. For the price and the portion size, everything was on point. I got the non alcoholic cucumber drink and that was fresh too. The staff was nice and attentive. The food did take some time to come out but it's because everything was so fresh and definitely worth the wait.

Good "expensive as F***" is, as usual with NYC, easy enough to find. Anyway... They apparently recently remodeled the place, at least doubling the amount of space within the past few months. We went in, sat down, and something that I miss from here in Texas was served to us; free chips and salsa! That is a... VERY rare concept in NYC. Here they bring salsa, queso, and some... carrots / celery combo soaked in vinegar I think that I really like. We were going to get regular lunch specials ($7.00 to $9.50) but then my dad noticed a board close to the front. We went and looked and they had two lunch specials for a very expensive... $5. One was a chicken enchilada with beef chalupa, refried beans and yellow rice, which is what I got, my dad got the other one "2 soft tacos, beans and rice." Between the chips I had, I could not finish my meal. I took the beef chalupa home. My dad didn't stuff himself like I did, so he could finish his food. We were quite pleased with the food; not gourmet, but not bad by any stretch of the imagination, and... it's a measly $5 USD. You get "street vendor food" for that in NYC, whereas here you get a sit down table, free chips and salsa, complete with refill of said chips (they charge you back in NYC), and a full plate of food. This place offers insanely good deals for what I'd say is decent quality food; take advantage of it if you're around for lunch. In the past I recall having a giant bowl of soup, bone in chicken with... cobs of corn, with rice and beans on the side. That really hit the spot as well, but if you don't like bone-in meat... avoid. I also asked about the "margaritas $.99c" in the photo I uploaded; it looked like an 8 oz. glass, maybe 10, not some thimble-sized switcharoo that I've run into before, where I refused to pay for it and gave it back and caused a scene. If they don't skimp on the tequila, and I'm not going to bug someone about the ratio of tequila to other ingredients during the lunch rush ... that special looks *DANGEROUS* :P
