As crave cantina we used to visit a few times a month. It was great for tacos, margaritas, and my favorites the Paloma. This place was actually becoming a regular occurrence for us and where we'd suggest family and friends visit. Saturday Date night we visited after traveling the past few months and we were so disappointed we got up and walked out. What was once a local cantina with great food and drinks is now another restaurant with an identity crisis. Service was good as always but what was a one page menu and a few specials is now a front ad back, beer menu, cocktails menu, and nothing looked good. An interesting place. Clearly popular, the whole place was packed and loud. A little overstimulating, but usually that's a good sign that the food offerings are good. The menu is clearly Latin-inspired with a heavy emphasis on tacos, but they aren't afraid to stray from tradition and try unconventional combinations of ingredients. Some traditional options they have are Puerto Rican budin dessert, Peruvian chicha morada (purple corn drink - not my favorite, but worth trying if you've never had it - one of our party got it), and some aguas frescas, including passionfruit, which my wife opted for. There's a variety of salsas and guacamole. Fun for some, but if you're getting hangry and just want something fast, it can be a bit much. We also got some house margaritas for the table - not bad but nothing to write home about. I got three different tacos - the Great Lakes Beer Battered Walleye, which was nicely cooked, as well as the the Flank Steak Banh Mi and the Shrimp tacos, both of which were okay. Two folks in our group are vegetarian, and Crave offers a few vegetarian taco options like the vegan chorizo taco and Impossible burger, but you can swap out any meat for a plant-based one (there is an upcharge though). The bathrooms were clean, but kind of dim. The soap dispenser was positioned super high so my 7 year-old couldn't reach it to wash his hands and I imagine someone using a wheelchair couldn't either. Our waiter was nice, but sometimes disappeared for a long stretch. For as busy of a night as it was, I'm guessing that's to be expected. Chips and salsa are not included, you can buy them and can do a trio of salsa or a trio of queso, guac, salsa. Taco was good, quesadilla was a little smoky for my liking but my friend really seemed to enjoy it. This review is of Crave on Front, since Crave Cantina no longer exists. My family of four went early on a Thursday and we were the only diners, so I expected pretty good food. Sadly, we all had complaints of varying levels for each dish. The macaroni and cheese was okay, but had no seasoning at all. The soup du jour of chicken and rice was also okay, but the rice was undercooked. Potato pretzel walleye was also just okay, but way over breaded. The worst dish was the steak skewers, which were recommended by our waiter. I asked for them to be cooked medium rare. Of the 4 pieces divided between two skewers, one piece was medium at best and the other three were well done. If the meat tasted good, I wouldn't complain, but these cuts were so tough, I could barely cut through them with a steak knife. I only took two bites from two pieces and left the rest on my plate. When the waiter checked in, I politely told him about my steak. He said "well that's unusual". He took my plate, walked away and never said anything else. We were very excited to stop into crave for a drink and a little bite before our dinner reservation, but were completely ignored for 10 solid minutes by the three bartenders working. We were right in front of them the whole time and were very patient, but as we waited they were taking care of everyone else and wouldn't even look our way :( We were bartenders in the past so just a friendly reminder to greet all guests and always check for new ones at the bar so they don't leave like we did! read more

Bad bad bad. Came in at 8:25 on a Saturday and found the place absolutely emptied with the exception of a very loud friend group at the bar making homophobic remarks. Bartender had some loud remark about selling foot pictures- appetizing! (not.) Extremely quiet music played with nothing to drown the noise out- just bad. Portions were so awful given the ridiculous price per taco, and it seems clear that they are lacking the money to keep this place open. Guacamole was worse than bad and my taco was measly for $6. Do not waste your money on this place for any reason other than alcohol. Should've taken it as a warning when the most recent review was 5 months old. My husband and I had a date night here recently after not having visited in a few years. We sat at their beautiful bar area. The service from our bartender was very good. She was extremely friendly and attentive. She made the smallest error with our order and fixed it immediately once she was notified. My husband was pleased with the beer selection and I enjoyed my wine. Out of my husband's taco order, his favorite was the barbecue brisket taco, which I sampled and also thought was delicious. I thoroughly enjoyed my walleye taco. While these aren't incredible tacos, they are very good and didn't sit too heavy at all. We also loved the variety of creative tacos listed on the menu. While we like the idea of the trio of salsa, we didn't think it was that good and would not order it again. Overall, very good experience and planning a trip back soon! read more

I was really disappointed here. I went last a few years ago and it was great- this time was gross. There was a hair in my margarita, (I didn't even take 1 sip the hair came out of the drink when I took the mixing straw out) and when I asked the waitress for a new one she said "oh... okay", took it to the bartender who looked very confused. No one ever apologized. Both of our water glasses were cracked at the bottom, and leaking. The chefs in the kitchen weren't wearing any hair nets. One was wearing a beanie but he had a long beard with no cover. The other male had no net, and rubber gloves on which I saw him run his nose with the back of his hand many times. I've come back here a couple of times since my previous review, including a recent visit. Friends wanted to go out for a last minute dinner, and I wanted to be able to make a reservation. Crave Cantina had openings, and booking online was easy. I was a little surprised to see how empty the restaurant was on a Saturday night at 7 pm. The bar was totally empty and maybe half of the tables were occupied. One big difference I noticed was that the drink menu was significantly reduced and a lot less interesting. However, the margarita and sangria I had were both good. We started with a large order of chips, the salsa trio, and a plain guacamole. This was outstanding. Everything tasted so fresh, and I appreciated that the salsas actually tasted different (a red smooth salsa; a chunky, black bean salsa; and a salsa verde). I was feeling pretty basic and ordered a quesadilla with steak and a side of refried beans. The quesadilla was what I wanted, the steak was tender, and it had great flavor from the chimichurri marinade. The beans were not good. They were made with meat and there were tons of stringy pieces of beef. Dry and not creamy. The quesadilla was so filling, though, that I actually didn't care. My biggest complaint this time around isn't related to anything that happened during our meal. I find it kind of off-putting that the taco menu just . . . doesn't change. While I appreciate that now you can get burritos or the aforementioned quesadilla, I wish there were more appealing choices. I'm from Louisiana and I'm just never going to order an alligator taco. Some of the combinations (like that one) seem wacky for the sake of it, and I feel that choice--while trend driven for sure--is feeling a bit dated in 2023. I will say, though, that I appreciate the amount of veg and vegan options. This most recent meal was probably the best over-all experience I've had at the cantina. Service had been an issue here before, but our server was great. The right balance of attentive but not smothering us (we enjoyed appetizers and drinks before ordering). It's unfortunate to say that we had a bad experience at Crave Cantina. We went in, were seated after a short wait, and then waited for what felt like a while before we were brought some waters. The waitress kind of just put the water down and said I'll be back. No worries. We looked through the menu and opted for the queso, salsa, and chips. Another while goes by and our waitress is nowhere in sight. She then walks by a few times and doesn't acknowledge us. At this point we had already been sitting there for about 15-20 minutes. The person I was dining with asked what a drink on the menu was and she said "it's that. It's like all of that. I don't know they make it at the bar it's like a mocktail." We finally put our order in and our waitress just wrote it down and walked away. Didn't confirm our order, didn't ask if we needed anything else, didn't let us know she was going to put our order in, nothing. At some point she sees us without waters and she brings us our own bottle which was very nice, but then disappeared again. Our chips, queso, and salsa come out maybe 45 minutes after we had sat down. They were great and our waitress refilled our chips while we waited for our food. And waited. And waited... other tables who were seated after us got their food and we continued to wait. Another 45 minutes later we got our food and our order was wrong. We ordered a shrimp burrito, a couple of tacos, and a chimichurri steak skewers, which oddly enough didn't actually have chimichurri, seems a little misleading. The steak was tough and lacking flavor, even with the curry sauce that was drizzled on top. Overall between the poor service and the subpar food, I can't say Crave was my cup of tea or that I would recommend it to anyone. read more

This is a group review as none of us had ever been here. There are only 3 slight knocks on this place. The guacamole didn't have any salt in it, which it needs a little to boost the flavor. Also, the water inside the tequila bottles tastes like water straight from a plastic water hose. Some like it, and some dont. The wings, while very good, seemed heavily sauced, and we wished the sauce had been baked on a little bit. The Cubano was fantastic. The chips were good. We all really loved the salsas, especially the Verde. The chicken, shrimp, steak, and vegan chorizo street tacos were all very good. Having lived in South Florida we adore fried plantains- not expecting the grilled steak and sauce that came with. Exciting addition contrasting the sweetness of the plantains. Wife went for the tacos and loved the duck confit. Interesting choice for a taco, and it was on point. I went seafood - a diversion for me really, but the Tequila was helping me make decisions. Not even the patrons on my visit were diverse, but maybe it was the time and day I visited. Here is the thing, if you are looking for something authentic or close to it, keep it moving. This is not where you want to be. But, if you are looking for something kind of tasty, okay prices, good flavor, and room temp food, you will like this place. It's not a place I would frequent, but it is cool for a one time visit. The ambiance and service was cool. It can be a fist date for younger people, out with friends and family, or a solo spot. Not sure what happened to this place. It's been a while since we've been, and thought the food was both creative and tasty in the past. Popped in last night to revisit, and the food was underwhelming, not bad, but nowhere where it used to be. That in itself is not terrible, but the restrooms (men and ladies) were filthy. I went to turn on the light and realized it was already on, just very dark, dirty and smelly. You get the point. Does not take much to clean, and certainly sends a bad message. Service was so so - but he was fairly new so I will give him that! Food: good but not out of this world and not good enough to say " I will have another " No chips and salsa ... for starters without asking and purchasing ... fail! We've been here several times, it's the best Mexican option in the falls area. Great variety of tacos, good beer list and nice tequila list. The margueritas are nice and strong. Service is always good and they have awesome salsa and guacamole options. As far as tacos go, they are all pretty good, my favorite is the tuna tartare with the crispy wonton shell. Most recently I tried the Cuba I, which is the best version I've found in northeast Ohio. It has a great bread, served pressed and crispy with ham, pork, a tasty whole grain mustard, melted cheese and pickles. The only thing this wrong with the sandwich was that it didn't have enough pickles. They have a happy hour m-f from 4-6, $1 off drinks and tacos. Seating is various - bar, booth and table. Happy hour deals are they way to go when trying new places - guacamole trio of original, bacon and pork belly. Loved the bacon! Queso was dark yellow variety and not to our taste. Ahi tuna taco was good - kimchi was best part. Brisket taco with Lawson's chip dip?! Worth a try. Ordered carry out on a Tuesday. Food was ready in less than 15 minutes and the hostess was very friendly. Tried five different tacos. My favorite was the Tuna Tartare Taco that was packed with flavors that didn't just mesh together, but rather stood out individually to create an experience. My least favorite was the Vegan Chinese BBQ Jack Fruit Taco. This was my first time trying jack fruit so I may have to blame that as opposed to the taco itself. I just may not like jack fruit. I also tried the smoked brisket taco which was meh, the criollo marinated chicken taco which was good, and the buttermilk fried chicken taco which was my second favorite of the group. Honestly I really want to like this place, but there are some issues to work out. I have been here twice. The first time my husband and I came on a weeknight assuming there would be happy hour. THERE WAS NONE. Nothing, not a special, not a $5 drink, no half price snack. They have since changed this I believe, but COME ON. We went back on a Friday night and gave it a second try. While it was Friday night, I wouldn't say it was super busy. We walked in and got seated outside at a table pretty quickly. Then we waited for at least 10 minutes to even get waters brought to our tables. Others on the patio seemed irritated with the slow service as well. We ordered a pitcher of their cantina margarita. It was so so. My husband liked that it was less sugary than some margs, but I was indifferent. We got the bacon guacamole and it was good. You can get a large or small portion. I got three different tacos and my husband got two. They are sizable. Not the largest I've seen but three was enough for me and I was really hungry. They were all good, but I didn't find mine to be remarkable. I got a flank steak, shrimp, and pulled pork. My husband liked the jackfruit curry one. Overall, an unremarkable experience. The table outside wasn't level and service was mediocre at best. We likely will not return, but will try to check out the other Crave restaurant ventures in Akron. read more

This is such a cool place to have dinner or just grab a couple drinks. The tacos are delicious (the tuna taco rocked my world) and the drinks never disappoint. (The berry mojito tastes like skittles - in a good way!) The queso with chorizo is creamy goodness. My only complaint is the manager that was there when we were there this past Friday night. She was talking trash to her staff and it seemed like everyone was on edge because of her. Crave (the original) is one of my favorite restaurants. So when I heard about Crave Cantina, I was so excited! Who doesn't love tacos and tequila? The night started with happy hour. The bartender was attentive, friendly, and very helpful. I got the queso, empanada, and a margarita. The queso was fabulous. And I loved that the empanadas are ala cart, per piece. The green sauce, beware. When eaten with the empanada is delightful. I took a big ol' bite of it by itself. It packs a mean punch! The rest of my party arrived. We stayed at the bar and got a vast assortment of tacos. I personally got the ahi tuna and duck. I was very happy with with the amount of tuna. Some places like to skimp on tuna, but not Crave Cantina. The duck were also lovely. I didn't get a chance to try any of the others that my friends got, but they looked delicious! Like the empanadas, the tacos are ala cart so you can try several kinds. The cocktail menu is creative and fun. I'll be honest, I didn't love the 2 I got-- but purely based on personal preference. Let me start off by saying this is my second time at Crave Cantina. The first time I dined here it was lovely in every way. However, my second trip was hugely disappointing. We waited 15 minutes before anyone came to our table. I overheard one of the servers ask who had our table and then someone went to get our waitress. We ordered drinks first and they took 10 minutes to get to our table. Our waitress stopped by once to get our order and once to bring the check. It took another 15 minutes for her to finally cash us out. Our water glasses were never refilled and she didn't even bring us silverware. It is unfortunate because the food here is delicious but the service is absolutely terrible. Our food was out in a timely manner which was not delivered by our waitress. All the other sections in the restaurant appeared to be receiving quality service, so maybe it was an issue with our waitress. I usually go somewhere local twice before writing a review but this place was so awesome I didn't want to wait to write it. Love the decor and vibe of the restaurant..the open kitchen is cool. There is a small outdoor patio and a nice bar inside. We sat in the back overlooking the river walkway. Only downside was were we sat was right by the ice machine so it was kind of noisy. We started with the guac trio..charred corn, bacon, and shrimp. It was a bit pricey at 16 but the guac was awesome(all three kinds) and the house made chips were even better. I would have been happy eating the chips plain! I had three tacos and so did my husband. Each were layered with flavors the hit every note..sweet, spicy, savory, sour, crunchy, soft. It was crazy how such small bites could pack so much flavor. I had one that was on special, the pork belly, that needs to be a menu constant for sure. Our waitress was sweet and attentive. You know what is better than fresh salsa, chunky guac, and warm tortilla chips? Tacos. Yes, that's correct. You know what's even better? Like... 20 tacos to choose from, all unique with individual components that make them incredibly delicious & wanting to order more. I'll set the scene... It's 6pm... I'm ravenous and Cuyahoga Falls doesn't have much good food here. It's either Shawarma Bros, Aladdin's... and then it dawned on me I haven't checked out Crave yet. Well goddammit, I am sure glad I did. Service: great Food: Incredible. Get the salsa trio. It's worth it, and you can add guac. Mango/ watermelon salsa was also good, but the star was the roja salsa. Also ask for the housemade hot sauce. It's mind blowing. The mojitos are also super tasty (I ordered the berry mojito) and not only are they insanely strong, but they're super fresh and loaded with fresh ingredients. Also, this place is always poppin, so make a reservation online through the website, or be prepared to wait. It is 100% worth it. I believe that I have found my new favorite restaurant. read more
