While in Rodanthe, I stopped by this food truck for a quick bite. Plenty of parking and a few outdoor tables to eat. The staff is super friendly and they had plenty of options to choose. I got the steak burrito which was very good and filling. Beware that if they ask if you want guacamole it is $2.50 extra. They don't verbally tell you there is a charge for it. Alexandria is so friendly and lovely and kind. This is one of the yummiest taco trucks I've ever visited, especially since I get vegetarian dishes - in this case, the vegetarian burrito It was absolutely lush and delicious, and I would order them a thousand times again. Esposo ordered the steak burrito and absolutely raved how delicious it was. Prices are fair for location ($30 2 burritos - one a veggie, one a steak). Read about a couple of food trucks just at the entrance of Rodanthe. I wanted to try the Asian inspired one but they were closed. We read about this one and found it just up the street. Lots of locals and visitors. They have a large menu. We tried a few things: chips and salsa $7.99(ouch), cheese quesadilla and steak street tacos. Also ordered a side of Pico ($3.99), super small definitely not worth the high price. The steak was delicious but could have used a bit more spice. I loved how the corn tortillas held up to the filling. There are outside picnic tables but it looked like people just do pickup and take away. Service was nice and friendly. read more

We passed multiple times during our stay, all at different hours, and they were closed every time. LOVED IT! Quality authentic Mexican food from very friendly food truck owner / operators. We ordered the three tacos ($8.50) and selected chorizo, chicken and barbacoa. They were served in a few corn tortillas with onion and cilantro just the way I love them. They were all fantastic, especially considering they are from a food truck. Such friendly service that only made the experience that much better. If your looking for good Mexican in the Rodanthe area, give them a try. Great little food truck. Excellent amount of options in meats and preparation's. Very good quality, I accidentally ordered a gordita instead of a Chalupa, which is not what I meant to do, but still good. Wouldn't recommend the gordita versus other options. The burrito was fantastic, I got chicken and chorizo mixed. the lady that runs it was an absolute sweetheart, worth going just because she is so nice. But in addition, very good food. I'm a big eater, so the only knock I will give it is it's a little bit expensive for the quantity, but not the quality. with a five dollar tip I spent $30 for a small gordita and a midsize that best burrito. We visit this area almost every year, and there is so much to love. The beach, the water, the remoteness. One minor downside has been the lack of choices in food and the prices (which is to be expected. It is an island after all!). We tried Taqueria Las Ahumaderas during our vacation this year, largely because of the good Yelp reviews. We were not disappointed. Everything is good, we loved the shrimp and fish tacos as well as the monster quesadillas. Eat here! For the Outer Banks, the food is good. Definitely being from the East Coast and having a lot of better options, it's not the best I have had, but better than the other options around there! I had the Gordita and tacos, both were good and I like that the Gordita was made with a fresh corn tortilla. I will say, I stopped by on a Sunday during their open hours (as advertised on their truck) and they were not open. It seems as if it's family run, so their times aren't as reliable but try calling first. I learned when I went there a second time, you can order over the phone. On our trip to OBX my family and I kept passing this food truck and we finally stopped and ordered! We were not disappointed, I ordered the steak and chicken burrito and my wife ordered the don burrito that included shrimp and fish she loved her and I really enjoyed mine as well. We also ordered a side of chips and guacamole. Everything was so fresh we ordered 2 times while we were in OBX and so happy that it was close to our beach and on our way home. Tacos in Rodanthe!!! Working our way north we saw Rodanthe on the horizon and began to make jokes in reference to the R Gere & D Lane weeper film. Then we noticed a taco truck...it is in these places that time forgot where taco trucks are often the best food option. Located near the Sting Wray, this truck rocks!!! Operated by a very lovely and charming Mexican lady who has lived in the OB for twenty years, this truck boasts authentic street tacos and way more choices (see menu photos). We ordered a set of tacos - chorizo, asada & chicken plus a new "food type" known as the pellizcada - tortilla, cheese, meat and green stuff. Back to the tacos, they are made with corn tortilla, meat, onions & cilantro. This is the way it's done south of the border. The green sauce was excellent. We also ventured into the freshly made pineapple juice. Yowee kazowee!!! Really good and served In a large cup. I'd come back here anytime any day. read more

I got 3 tacos and they each lacked flavor and filling. My fiancé got the chicken quesadilla and it was filled with chicken and veggies but little cheese. Everything is an add on, so for a regular chicken quesadilla, 3 tacos and a soda we were out $26. On a positive side, they were really nice and fast to prepare the food.
