Recently too I tried ordering a pozole they called back said that they did have pozole without meat I understood and told them to switch it to menudo but I did ask if they could add some of the grano from the pozole they said that they would do it, I get home and there was no grano, they could have just said it wouldn't be possible so I could have canceled my order no straight up lie to me just so they could make a sale, I called back and they didn't even knew what to say, having bad service can also be the reason for a business to go down. We have been coming here for over 18 years. We know the owners grandson and today we were told that we couldn't have my 2 year old nephews sippy cup which contained apple juice inside the restaurant because no outside drinks are allowed. So what does that mean for a newborn or small kids that don't eat solids yet are they not welcomed, are the parents welcomed. If this is a family restaurant how can you exclude certain families. In our case he is allergic to milk and doesn't like anything else. Plus aguas frescas are not something he likes. Might want to add apple juice to your menu and then maybe we will return. read more

Food was incredible- meat (carne asada and el pastor) was fresh, several toppings to choose from, friendly/fast service from both servers. I was craving some Mexican food but not home cooked meals from my mom. I wanted something fast but also affordable to get. Don't get me wrong I love my moms cooking but it was just one of those days where she didn't feel like cooking. I remember telling my mom how I was craving a torta. That's how we ended up at Taqueria Los Comales in Joliet. I grew up going to eat at this place since it was one of our families favorite after going to church. So I knew the experience was going to be great. This is one of my favorite Mexican restaurants! At first you get to seat yourself in any opening area available when you walk inside. The ambiance was amazing. The restaurant felt comfortable and energetic since it looks like a place in Mexico. There were Hispanic style portraits all around and a Virgen Mary portrait. The inside of the restaurant there's tables and chairs while the outer area there's booths. As we sit down we get greeted with a lovely waitress and she gives out our menus. The prices over here are really affordable especially if you're not trying to waste a lot of money. I felt comfortable in the area as soon as I walked in, due to the old spanish music playing in the background. The food and service were amazing. Our waitress would always smile after asking us what we wanted to drink and eat. She also asked us how we were feeling that day. After we finished ordering she made sure our order was correct and given to us correctly at a reasonable time. When we got our food and drinks she would ask us once in a while if the food was good or if we needed refills from our drinks. I ordered a torta de asada which is a steak sandwich. You can add avocados, sour cream, beans, tomatoes, lettuce, jalapenos, cheese and a salsa or of your choice green, red or both. The meat was cooked pretty well and the all topping together tasted amazing. While both of my parents ordered a caldo de jugo which is a type of soup. As we finished the meal we went up to the front and paid a total of around $35. Not that bad when you're not trying to spend too much. Overall, the experience was amazing. From the amazing flavorful food to the warm and welcoming atmosphere. I'll give this restaurant 5/5 stars. If you're ever in the Joliet area craving some Mexican food, and want something affordable I highly recommend Taqueria Los Comales. read more

Last week I was craving some Tortas so I decided to go to a classic place I have gone since I was little, called Taqueria Los Comales. I went to the restaurant with my family and friends since I thought it would be nice to hang out with them there. First of all the restaurant had a nice clean look, and the smell around gave a heartwarming feeling like you were entering your house. Each table has a transparent box that has green peppers, sliced carrots, and cauliflower mixed with each other giving spice to all that you can just grab as an appetizer. There are a lot of tables and room so that it doesn't feel cramped. The menu consists of a lot of food options and each one has options to customize for preference. The price is a bit over the normal but once you get your food you'll see why as they give big portions. I ordered a Torta with steak and without any vegetables and only with beans, sour cream, and cheese. After taking my order it took a while to arrive due to many people ahead of me. When the food arrived it looked so good, the bun was crisp enough, the meat melted the cheese to have a gooey texture and the smell was fresh. After finishing eating there were slight problems with the restaurant, like how the bathrooms have room for one person even tho there are a lot of people eating. The chairs felt loose like they would break at any moment, and the table wasn't fully even out so when I lean on the table the other side rises up more. The last thing was that there was a problem with a lot of customers and that was that the people working in the kitchen were rushed, so other people's food sometimes gets mixed with your food. Overall I would rate it a 4 out of 5 stars. The food, the prices, and the portion sizes all combine to make a great experience. I definitely recommend more people to go to this restaurant since it is its only location. read more

After eating at the Taqueria Paisanos across the street we came over here this is the place. This is where my son originally wanted to go but I insisted on going to the other place because they had 4 1/2 stars on yelp that was my big mistake. My son always argues with me that Google reviews are truer and more positive than Yelp I am an elite helper and I have trust my yelp however in this instance it's wrong, dead wrong. Taqueria los Comales is by far in ahead way better than Taqueria paisanos. Let's start out with the steak that comes with the tacos in the burrito they are actual slices of Carne Asada , cooked to perfection is an excellent taste very high-quality. Unlike the other place they actually gave us slices of avocado instead of some crappy guacamole. The rice although it had carrots and peas in it my son said it was immensely better than across the street. This Horchata came in a cup with a lid and a straw so apparently the straw shortage is not in Joliet it's just at Taqueria los paisanos. I am a foodie I eat out all the time trust me when I say this is that the quality of the food here at Taqueria los Comales is superior it's way better than the three stars that are currently reported for it come and give it a try the staff is very friendly everyone here and the staff is wearing masks which I feel is great and the place is very clean. A major plus is that all the tables is a huge container of jalapeños carrots onions and cauliflower. This is a really great touch I wanna places charge you a buck for a small little bowl of this and you can have all you want for free they serve fresh limes with our dinner and supplied us with tasty salsas. Overall this is by far the better place I give it five stars because we had a perfect meal here after our upsetting meal across the street. I went in to this establishment on Saturday 11/9 for breakfast. I can't give a review on the food because they kicked me out. I travel with a Seeing Eye dog and even after I showed our ID which states that my dog is allowed ANYWHERE that I go, the waitress refused to serve me. I was with my family and the waitress had the audacity to say that there were "plenty of people to guide me so the dog needs to go in the car." I am an independant person and my family respects my dog and I as a working team. I don't even know where to begin. The only reason why they have one star right now is because I couldn't put a Negitive . I order food from this location from Uber eats. I was missing more than half my order. I called an they told me that this wasn't there problem and that it's Uber problem and I need to contact the driver.
