FUNDIDO FOR YOU & ME Melty cheese is always a hit, and Burritos Mi Tierra does it better than most. In picking our date nights, my wife and I alternate between trying new places and revisiting a dozen or so "greatest hits". If we find ourselves in the mood for tried-and-true margaritas, we'll come to this family-owned restaurant in Romeoville about a mile south of I-55 on Weber Rd. Their house chips & salsa are awesome--the green salsa is milder while the red salsa is hotter. You can get a large margarita frozen or on-the-rocks ($15), but expect them to be strong either way. My wife enjoys their Michelada ($9), a drink similar to a bloody mary that's made with beer instead of vodka. We always get the queso fundido con chorizo ($10.75), a marvelously greasy appetizer that comes with corn or flour tortillas. Sometimes our tummies are fine afterwards, sometimes the grease goes through us like an angry lightning bolt. It's so good I'll happily suffer the consequences the next day, IDGAF. Bread = 4.5 Circuses = 4.5 Tacos al pastor ($3.50/ea) get a thumbs-up, however the tampiqueña ($22) was a little disappointing. I know skirt steak is generally a tougher cut, but this was greyer and chewier than what I've gotten at other places. It was served with an enchilada, rice, beans, lettuce and tomato. The best thing on the menu is unquestionably the burrito suizas ($11), a gigantic 1-1/2lb burrito filled with meat, beans, veggies and sour cream with melted cheese on top. It's as tasty as it is massive and will feed a hungry person for two meals! Their vanilla flan ($4.50) is pretty good, too. * TL;DR * Burritos Mi Tierra is one of our favorite Mexican spots in the area, and the unexpected closure of Naperville's On the Border (R.I.P) means we'll probably come back here more often. Service has been consistent, the décor is cute, and their margaritas are some of the best around. Queso fundido and burrito suizas are standout dishes, authentic and fairly-priced. We are regular customers have had great experience till tonight. We made our normal order with quesadilla and tacos and noticed something didn't taste right. I call and the owner said yes we changed our meat as the other one was more expensive. She says bring back what you didn't eat and we'll make you fresh. So I go in and she's all inspecting the food like I did something to it. Then said we can give you the other meat but it's going to cost you more. How about instead of worrying about making the customer pay more you give the customer what they asked for the first time. read more

This is such a hidden gem in Romeoville, in the strip mall near Weber and 135th. Its a great little lunch place. We came on a Monday for half price margs and flautas on special. The first mexican restaurant I've tried in Romeoville since moving here. Was in the mood for all pastor, however it's not on the menu. Instead, I had the house specialty burrito which is carne asada with everything. It was good. Not great, just good. My wife had the carne asada tacos and had the same opinion I did a out my burrito. Nothing special, but not bad. We'll be back to try other menu items but I wouldn't go out of my way to eat here. Servicewas very good. Both the green and red house made hot sauces are good, the horchata was good and complimentary pickled carrots and chiles we're good. read more

Their fajitas don't don't come lettuce, sour cream, guacamole...? Total for veggie fajitas were $15... without sides. Didn't come out in what you usually see fajitas come out on... just on a plate, not sizzling or anything. Waitress never came back to ask if we wanted more drinks, would come ask if everything was ok but would turn around before us answering. I ordered from here because a co worker told me me it was good. I placed an order on Uber and I got a steak burrito and added aguacate to it and a steak Gordita. For desert a flan and a horchata water. The burrito was what I expected it was super salty and the taste wasn't great. The lettuce in it was soggy from being hot and soggy tomato. Then there green salsa didn't even have a kick to it. It was actually sweet and the red sauce was good had some heat. The Gordita was a totally different steak from the burrito. The taste was better but a lot of fat in it. The Gordita is full of sour cream and some ricotta cheese and beans. It didn't look good but it was probably the best thing I had from there. The horchata water was thick and super sweet. The flan was horrible and the container smelled like rotten egg. I actually looked up the reviews on yelp before I ordered here but this place is not good read more

I've been going here a long time. Used to be pretty good, the quality has gone way downhill. Last few time I ate there the food has been terrible, just tried it again yesterday and I was very disappointed. Place had an awful smell to it when I walked in the door, that should've made me go somewhere else but I gave them a shot anyway. I got a steak taco dinner. Taco shells were stale, never got stale taco shells in my life till yesterday. Steak was over cooked and very dry, rice looked a few days old. I don't think I'll ever go back. read more

Came here because I pass it regularly. So glad I did. The prices are great! The food quality was very good. If you dine in and get the chips, you need to be very careful not to devour the basket as they are perfectly textured and the salsas delicious. Service was great. As a side surprise....the have my old favorite Diet RC on the fountain (very rare find). Small dining area, but very clean and cozy. Definitely great place to go solo or with friends. I see it said many businesses are doing their best during these hard Covid times. Let me tell you, the closing lady did the absolute least. They close at 9pm, she locked the door in my face at 8:56 talking about I can't get an horchata cause they're already closed. I clearly see the container overflowing with horchata right behind her salsa self. Probably one of the rudest people I've encountered there. In town for a couple of weeks. Wasn't sure if I wanted to try mexican food in the Chicago area? But being away from home I was having a mexican food jones. I ordered a carne asada torta with rice and beans. The chips and salsa was OK, have had better but can't complain to much. The torta was pretty good, and I also enjoyed the beans. Wasn't to fond of the rice. You have to realize, living in Los Angeles for 40 years, and Phoenix for the past 5 years. I have had some pretty good sonoran mexican food. That doesn't include time spent in Mexico. So I am not saying their food is all that bad, but my expectations is pretty high. read more

Not sure what all the high ratings are for, this place is not great. I got a chimichanga suiza style, and it cost me almost $10 after tax. I was fine with the price, until I got home and opened the box. No side of rice and beans. Literally just a chimichanga. No salsa or guacamole or sour cream. I was not happy. The chicken was super dry and had no flavor. And there was so much cheese on the inside that it was overwhelming. The lettuce and tomato were almost non existent due to the brick of cheese that took up most of the space. Apparently it came with beans, but I couldn't find them in the cheese abyss. And the chimichanga itself was so greasy it was dripping. There was a puddle of congealed red oil in the bottom of the carry out box. Not attractive. Was not impressed, will probably not return. After one visit I'm a fan. Originally had planned on going to the Smokehouse next door, but they're closed on Tuesdays. Lucky for me, Enchiladas are on special on Tuesdays. I recently started rating Mexican restaurants on their chicken verde enchiladas. They were outstanding and loved the housemade hot sauces. They have daily specials and margaritas are half off Mon - Wed. Place is bigger than it looks and the server was as sweet as my Horchata. I'll have to plan another visit before too long.
