Waiting for our tacos!
Sara C.

Loved this place and we will be back. Don't be fooled by the menu. They have the capability to make almost anything you desire. I got an al pastor quesadilla, it's not on the menu, and it was wonderful. It was packed full of flavor and not greasy like other places. My boyfriend got steak and pork tacos in love them. Everything was seasoned well. I'm not a refried bean girl, but there's were delicious. They use seasoning that I had not tasted anywhere else. The atole drink was flavored very nicely as well. Different from other places.

These are actually the best tacos I've had in Indianapolis and I have been to almost every taco place in the Indianapolis area all over.

So glad to have found this great pupuseria! Nice variety of menu at reasonable prices and tasty…read morepupusas! I arrived there at night and for a second they were closed because their restaurant name sign was not lit, but they did have the "open" sign lit so I went inside. They have very minimal decorations inside- no music, just a TV on really loud. But many times this type of places are a hit than a miss! (Based on my experience) I ordered a few pupusas and tacos to go and was told the food would be ready in 10 minutes- however it took 35 minutes. it's okay if they are busy but I think they could have just told me at one point it would take much longer than expected. There seemed to be just two people working there. There was someone who was waiting longer than I was. It was very cold inside which did not help when I was waiting for so long. I was disappointed with the wait time, however the pupusas were amazing. The hot sauce and slaw(?) that came with them were great too. I especially liked the one with chicken and cheese. In the future I will always call ahead of time to place an order rather than waiting there, and I advise everyone to do so.

Our host patiently answered questions as a friend and I discussed our options for lunch We ordered at the counter looking into the kitchen, where we could see the food preparation. Our shared meal was two empanadas and two pupusas. (See picture). The order was called out when it was ready. We got a few spoonfuls of green and red sauces and marinated vegetables, and then carried everything to our table. We started on the pupusas. These were covered with shredded lettuce, grated cheese and a drizzle of white sauce. Cooked on the griddle, the masa (dough) surrounds your choice of cheese; cheese and meat; or cheese, meat and bean filling. The cheese and shredded meat filling was mild, soft and subtly flavored -- quite nice. The empanadas were fried, giving a crispy outside layer over soft interior dough. It was a good amount of meat and cheese filling with the beef empanada more flavorful than its shredded chicken cousin. I think the spicy heat of the the condiment sauces provided some "kick" and balance to the mild flavor of the lettuce and grated cheese layered over this dish. While I did not see prices posted, I thought the prices were reasonable when we settled our bill. There was a $6 minimum to use a credit card. Overall it was a tasty meal and pleasant experience.

The entrance is on the side of the building and you walk into a very unassuming space and order at the counter. The pupusas de queso are my favorite with the lorocco and frijoles coming in 2nd and 3rd. Be sure to get the curtido (slaw) that accompanies them. It really make the flavors pop! With a little hot sauce or salsa, these make a great meal and definitely filling! Be sure to get some horchata to drink!

The dining room is filled with mismatched table cloths and chair covers, but neat. Salvadoran music plays softly. Alex, our host/server was laid back and told us to sit anywhere. There is a sign that says menu prices may be actually different than stated. The menu offered a number of Salvadoran specialties. The prices were very reasonable. I'm told the corn tortillas are made fresh! The complementary chips were a bit stale, but I could tell that they were made in house. The salsa was tangy and good. I had Chicken Papusa with rice and beans. The papusa was freshly made, hot and delicious. The black beans were great. My husband had a beef burrito, which looked amazing and huge. There was a delicate cheese sauce on top and the cilantro sauce that accompanied the burrito was delicious. The food is very good. There is plenty of parking.

You can't see it from the road, and it's slightly hard to find even when you're driving back there, but I promise it's there! We walked in right as they opened at 11am on a weekday and I don't think they expected anyone to be there right then. There was one lady in the restaurant, but the other owner walked in after me and then it took awhile to get our food since I'm guessing they hadn't fired up the grills yet. We were sat at the bar to wait for our food. It was very dark inside and there was no music playing yet. It felt slightly strange to be in the dark at a bar at 11am for over a half hour chilling alone, but we love pupusas and Salvadoran food in general, so we waited it out. I ordered chicken pupusas and guacamole and they were pretty delicious. I'd recommend stopping in a little later in the day for the full experience. It looks like you can also order takeout or delivery on their Yelp page too which I'd recommend doing in advance if you're in a hurry! (Or calling in!) The lady seemed sweet!
