Love, love, love Tacos 46! My husband and I have been eating here for years and it's one of our west-side favorites. We have never had a bad meal here and usually only get take-out. I also stop in here with friends from work for lunch every once in a while, which is what I did last week. We sat outside since the weather was so nice (there isn't a patio, just one table that can sit 3). My friends got different supreme tacos and a dip trip for us all to split and I ordered pastor tacos and a cheese quesadilla (not pictured). The pastor tacos were so tender and flavorful, as usual, and the pineapple strips on top were a great touch, though we don't ever get those on our to-go pastor tacos. I'm not sure if it's something nee that they are doing, if it's only for dining in, or as stock allows. The cheese quesadilla was much bigger than I was expecting (based off of what I've received from other tacos spots on the west side), so next time I would only order 2 tacos if I wanted a quesadilla as well. Their portions are great for the price, which is another reason why we love them so much. My friends both enjoyed their tacos and the dip trio was really tasty. From the moment you enter, this restaurant, you can tell it will be a unique experience. I got the tacos de asada (steak) i was a bit disappointed, they were pretty dry and not very well seasoned, the torta cubana had some flavor to it, but no depth, what you see is what you get, lastly, the birria taco, was very underwhelming, there was fatty tissue in the taco (which I hate), the meat did not have seasoning, the consume tasted bland and had so much fat, that it overwhelmed the flavors. The real stars of the show are the salsas!! The red salsa will have you confessing your secrets as it is so spicy and unforgiving, the green salsa in slightly milder and more tolerable. Both were enjoyable, as I love spicy food, however, this was a different level of spicy. I loved that they gave you a side of seasoned onions, radishes, and limes to tie the tacos and torta together. I would be willing to try other things in their menu, as I have head some of their dishes are great. They have a bakery behind their eating area, so I am looking forward to try their sweat bread. Taco 46 is located on the west side, right outside of Speedway. They have a parking lot out front. Inside there is seating and the restaurant is connected to a bakery that offers traditional Mexican desserts. It took a while before someone greeted me, but staff were friendly while I took my order. I grabbed a chicken taco and the cecina especial. The chicken was abundant, tender and flavorful. I was actually able to use a tortilla from my home to make another since I had so much chicken. This is a taqueria with a surprisingly spacious dining area. As I walked in I was overwhelmed with big menu boards and a bunch of signs with pictures. I appreciate it when they have pictures of the food- it's definitely helpful when I don't know the names of everything. I chose carne asada and pastor tacos. While waiting, I walked over to the panadería which is connected inside. This is lovely! I can get pan and tacos with one stop. Very convenient. I got some muffins from there (great selections there as well) and by the time I paid for them my tacos were ready. Service was not friendly. However, tacos were great. I am gluten intolerant and made the mistake of not asking what kind of tortillas each taco was served on. I'm not 100% positive, but it seems like if you add cheese they will automatically give you a flour tortilla. I'm sure if you specified they could easily switch to a corn tortilla. I definitely know to do that the next time. Apart from the steak and cheese tacos (on the flour tortilla) I also ordered a campechano (steak and chorizo). I've had this spot bookmarked for quite some time so it was a treat to finally mark it off the bucket list for a speedy carryout lunch recently. I was delightfully surprised to find that it is attached to a Mexican bakery (double the fun!). The bakery had a great array of savory and sweet treats. As for Tacos 46, it is bustling at lunch time! We ordered chicken tacos with rice and beans and all were quite delicious. Expect to spend around $10 pp for lunch. They have a vast lineup of aguas frescas as well as desserts like tres leches on display at the counter. Next time I will have to try their grilled onions - they seemed to be displayed everywhere. It looks like next time we'll have to try the al pastor tacos based on the review recommendations. Overall, a tasty visit and I look forward to more Tacos 46 in our future. read more

They came classic with the meat, cilantro and diced onions on lightly fried corn tortillas. Normally I will pick off raw onions but the balance of flavor on these was On Point! I ate ALL the onions!! The salsa verde was light and just right (will order extra next time.) The red sauce is HOT and does not play games. The other traditional extras were super fresh- sliced radish, lime plus they give you an amazing grilled onion - bulb, stalk and all (cebollitas). Great, authentic tacos! It's in a bit of an off-the-path location, and aesthetically not all that exciting. But the food is fantastic. I had chicken tacos and my friend had steak. Both were excellent. We also ordered sides of beans and rice, which came with chips. It was a ton of food! Everything tasted fresh and the meets were well spiced and cooked. My husband speaks Spanish because he served a church mission in East LA, and is very picky about any Mexican food we try to find. The menu is in Spanish but they will help you out if you are not fluent. You place your order then go sit and wait. We were the first customers of the day and it only took a few minutes for our food to come. We each ordered chicken tacos which came with three sauces, fresh limes, radishes slices and marinated onion on the side. The tacos stole the show. The corn shells tacos were filled with nicely seasoned diced chicken and lots of cilantro. They were delicious and a real bargain at $2.25 each. My husband also ordered the Queso Fundido which was a generous portion of warm and spicy cheese dip served with flour tortillas. The cheese was s little rubbery and hard to serve with the small plastic forks provided. Servers are friendly and accommodating. You might think you don't really like refried beans. They're often flavorless, tasting more inline with brown paste than anything else at other Mexican restaurants or the infamous Taco Bell. BUT......You've never had Tacos 46 Homemade Refried Beans...Yes I said Homemade Refried Beans. Rich and super savory bean flavor, their refried beans are a must order. Went for the first time on Cinco de Mayo when every Mexican restaurant was packed. Great decision. We were able to get right in & get a table. The best part was the food was wayyy better than any Americanized Tex-mex spot. Even the kids requested to come back. Tacos (corn tortillas) are available with several meat options. Our favorite was the steak. Now that we've been back to visit again, I know that one of those plus an asada con queso (flour tortilla) would be all I need. Quite a steal at around $5 for lunch or dinner. Watch out for that red sauce...it's 5 alarm hot. Both the green sauces provide good heat plus flavor. 4 of us ate dinner for around $40...and we all took home leftovers. We'll be regulars.
