Straight to the point - I wasn't impressed for the price I paid. I ordered steak, chicken and pastor tacos and each I could only get halfway through. The chicken was bland and dry, the steak was dry, and the pastor was overly sweet and greasy. The side of rice tasted waxy, almost like rubber. It had a weird taste. If I didn't have the chips and salsa my whole meal would have been ruined. My husband ordered a steak quesadilla as well and he wasn't satisfied. The chips seemed store-bought but all of the main dishes are clearly homemade (in a good way)! The chef checked with us for special requests and asked if we liked our meal after being served. After almost two years living within 5 minutes of this place, we finally stopped in. I think that the name "Tacos and Burrito Place" is deceiving. My fiancé (who is from Mexico) hates going to overpriced Americanized Mexican restaurants, I think we've just made the wrong assumption that this is what that was. But I really wanted to give it a chance, so I stopped in to pick up some dinner. It has the "hole in the wall" feel that the best takeout Mexican places have. The menu is very straightforward which I appreciated. But I appreciated their prices even more. It is criminal how much places these days charge for singular tacos and burritos. At this place, there's normal inflation prices without going overboard. I also appreciated that the prices were the same for any meat option. I decided on a small steak burrito with a side of rice. I ordered my fiancé a steak torta. I also got some medium and hot salsa with the order. It took less than 10 minutes for them to prepare. In total, my order was less than $20. We dug in right away after getting home. My pictures were a little late since we were both really hungry by that point. I really appreciated the size of the small burrito. It wasn't ginormous but it wasn't tiny either. It was filled with everything good that a burrito has to offer- beans, rice, meat, tomato, lettuce. Pouring a little salsa on it made it even more perfect. I usually like the salsa verde most, but something about the spicy salsa just hit different this time. I poured some on my rice as well. The rice was tasty, but just a bit dry. I would still order it again, but my expectations would be lower. My fiancé had great things to say about his torta. It was a bit messy because it was filled with so much, but flavor wise he said it was perfect! On my second go I went for a burrito and was not at all disappointed. The server who took my order said her favorites are the fajita burrito, quesadilla, and tortas. Don't miss the drinks, the tamarindo was a fruity flavor I hadn't tried before (if you ask nicely you can sample!) . On first visit the music was cranked SO loud I couldn't hear anyone and had to yell my order, but my second was very quiet. So, I guess just cross your fingers. Accessibility: The counter to order from is about 5ft high posing the biggest accessibility issue. I didn't see the restrooms. COVID accommodations: tables have been marked 6 ft away. This is definitely one of those "I've blown by it a million times and had no idea it was even there" places. I have an affinity for hole-in-the-wall Mexican joints (luckily, Indy is blessed with a few of these) and Taco & Burrito Place is definitely worth adding to your list. It's at the north end of a small strip down Keystone, right before the light at Millersville, so keep your eyes peeled or else you'll miss it. It's no frills - I mean, come on, it's called TACO & BURRITO PLACE - but the food is amazing, fresh, and authentic. I had the chorizo torta and my wife ended up getting the tacos. The sizes were generous and everything was hot off the grill when we picked it up. The food itself was delicious, but the star of the whole show was their homemade guacamole. Some coworkers who know my love of trying new places invited me to come and check this place out. As many things are on north keystone, the place is found inside a strip mall. Not to worry there is plenty of parking! When you walk inside just head straight to the counter, I stood in the back of the line so I could browse and figure out what I wanted. A good deal of options, but I have a habit of sticking to tacos because I love them so much. You can choose from traditional or American style tacos, I appreciate the option but love cilantro and onion with the opportunity to add those random colorful delicious sauces. This little-known spot is the perfect place to get delicious Mexican food. There's a small parking lot out front, and after walking in you can place your order at the counter. It's never been too busy anytime I've gone there, and it only takes a few minutes after placing my order for them to call out that it's ready. Not to mention, the people who work there are always friendly and welcoming. I normally order the ground beef burrito which also comes with a side of salsa. The food tastes delicious and you can tell its made with the freshest ingredients. The burrito is less than 7 dollars, and I would highly recommend it. They have a seating area with a handful of tables, but I normally take my food to-go. Although this is not the most extravagant restaurant, it definitely deserves a lot of praise.
