Maybe I ordered the wrong thing. My gordita with Carne asada was terrible. The beef was incredibly gamey tasting, and the corn gordita was overcooked on the outside and raw in the middle. It was so tough to cut, just terrible. My husband had huevos Ranchero, and his eggs were cooked according to order; the sauce lacked flavor. The flour tortillas appeared to be housemade but we're dry. Overall, not good. read more

It's now called Taqueria Hacienda on the corner of Ave A and Wheeler Ave. They gave always been pretty good, our GoToo for breakfast for sure...we'll, this morning was not atypical. The tacos were "Pinners" according to my husband..aka, tacos with more tortilla than ingredients. I called. They need need to know. We are all paying A LOT more for things nowadays. In saying that, I get it, but we shouldn't get A LOT LESS for A LOT MORE. The girl on the phone was really sweet and offered for us to come back, nope..not today. Great Mexican food in Aransas Pass. They're open on Sundays and closed on Mondays, I guess they haven't updated their hours on Yelp. Fajitas were just carne asada meat but had great flavor and tortillas hot and fresh! My husband ordered the #6 which had a crispy taco and enchiladas and he said it was very good. Mother in law ordered the gordita with lengua and she gave it 2 thumbs up. Chips and salsa were excellent and salsa was very spicy! Women's restroom was clean and service was good. read more

We've tried this little hidden gem several and have had different things each time with no disappointments. Our first trip we had the Carne Guiana, Shrimp Cocktail, Chicken Fajita Quesadilla and Chicken Torta, all very good. 2nd time, we both had the Molcajete and once terrific. Our last trip I had the Chicken Fajita Taco Salad, he had Carne Guiana and we shared the Fajita Nachos Supreme - these were the best Nachos anywhere. Definitely stop by our feet it to go! read more

OK -- I had to leave the county to find some decent Tex-Mex food, but I'm glad I did. Taqueria Mexico is a typical converted former fast-food restaurant that serves above-average Tex-Mex in Aransas Pass on Wheeler Ave (Bus 35). A fairly extensive menu with a couple of daily lunch specials & kids plates. Most were in the $5.95 - $8.95 range. We were there for a late lunch & had the Cheese Enchilada plate, the Gordita & Taco plate & a combo plate with enchiladas & a crispy taco. All were served with spanish rice and refried bean, and all were delicious & well prepared. The cheese enchiladas were good & the enchilada sauce had a nice flavor to it, not a bland, out of the can, taste. The gordita was fairly large, made out of a cornmeal batter (not Taco Bell style gorditas -- fyi), with well-seasoned ground beef in the gordita & tacos. Chips (both crispy corn tostadas & fried flaky flour tortillas chips) were served warm with a cooked style smooth salsa, that still had a nice freshness to it & a hint of chipotle, yet not overly smoky. First try, but definitely worth a repeat look. Hope it stays this good & gets better too. read more

Looking for a place to grab breakfast on my drive through. Doesn't look like much from the outside but it was very yummy. We had a table of 6 people. All ordered something different. Food and drink brought out quickly and was all super yummy! As a new resident of Aransas Pass, I am checking out all the local dining establishments. I ordered the Gringo Special (shrimp&chicken) with Spanish Rice and Guacamole. Total was 11.95. The grilled shrimp&chicken were very tasty, as was the Guacamole and rice. There were no chips and salsa, or tortillas. Thus the 3 star rating. Perhaps management might consider adding them in the future. read more

My husband and I were in town visiting his dad and thought we'd try out Taqueria Mexico. The place was clean, the service was extremely fast and the food is very affordable! I always order the sizzling hot plates from here, and they've always been good. I've tried bites of my husband's carne asada tacos, and they are also delicious every time. Always had friendly waitresses. The only bad thing is that the salsa is a bit too spicy for me, but that's preference, and I find most people including my husband like the spice level. read more

First off the service was awful, never asked if we needed anything, never asked how Everything was tasting, never refilled our teas... The ground beef in the enchiladas and tacos tasted like it might've been bad, I always order tacos because in my book there hard to mess up, well they managed to serve an awful taco the meat was a terrible texture and taste was awful. I arrived approx 6pm on a weekday. There were maybe 8 other people dining. The waitress came very quickly with a bowl of warm chips and some awesome chile. I ordered the number 7 cheese enchilada plate and a tea (~$6 for the dinner plate). The iced-tea came in a smallish sized cup, which is a pet-peeve of mine. This is TEXAS and we want Texas-sized glasses of tea!! :) This turned out to be fine, because my waitress was very sweet and provided frequent refills. The food came very quick and was accompanied by two of the best flour tortillas I've had in a long time. The enchiladas weren't smothered in cheese, which was a good thing. If I wanted gobs of melted cheese, I would have ordered the El melted cheese platter. The chili-gravy was great, but there wasn't quite enough for me to sop up with the tortillas. The spanish rice was awesome and (thank god) didn't have any corn or peas in it. The beans were average. This would have been a 3 star review, but the super-awesome chips/sauce and tortillas bumped it up to a 4. One other thing.. when I went to pay the bill, the lady charged me around $5. We were on our way back to Austin from a weekend beach vacation & decided to stop in for a meal before the long trip home! Our service was fantastic!!! Our waitress was very polite, patient and tentative! She was awesome! The other employees also kept walking up asking us if we were okay or needed anything else! This was our second visit after a family vacation in Port Aransas. Great speedy service with nice staff. Prices are cheap and the food was good. My hubby love the carne guisada and barbacoa tacos, which he really liked. I had a small bowl of tasty menudo and a chorizo and egg taco. We had a crowd of about 15 with us and they were able to quickly accommodate and still offer timely service. Def will makes this our go to place before and after our trips to Port A. We stopped here on a whim looking for some quick breakfast tacos to go and, boy am I glad we did! First off, they have a drive thru which is very convenient. We ordered a carne guisada taco, barbacoa taco, chorizo and egg taco, and a potato egg with cheese taco. The highlights were the carne guisada and barbacoa tacos. The carne guisada was very tender and tasty. The barbacoa was very yummy too! It wasn't fatty and you didn't even need to add salt to it becuz it's very flavorful in it's own right. The two egg tacos I got were decent. The size of all the tacos were very big! This place may not look like much, but sometimes those are the best places to eat at. Plus, the prices were low. We spent like $10 and that included two ice teas. If we ever come back to Aransas Pass, we will definitely come back to Taqueria Mexico! read more

Completely disappointed with them. The girls in the office and I called in an order. I went to pick it up and pay for it with my visa card. I was handed only 1 receipt showing a total of $30.46. We get back to the office and I get the text that the debt was taken from my card of $36.55. I was so upset only because I was almost sure that this happened last week but I didn't have that receipt to reference back to. So I called up and let them know what happened the lady wasn't rude until after I explained to her my complaint she said ok. I said well why did you take it out of my account she said to bring her proof and hung up the phone when I asked what her name is. read more

This place is CLOSED (sadly) due to hurricane. I haven't seen any activities that indicate reopening. Yelp site (11/29/17) says "open now" which I can assure you it's not I wish everyone would post places in the Aransas Pass/Port Aransas/Ingleside/Rockport that are currently closed and any reopening status they may know. read more

I was excited to eat here because I was really was in the mood for Latino food. The food was very good, however when I took my daughter to use the restroom, an inch long cockroach fell on me. I lost my lunch. That was not the worst part. My husband had already paid. I told them what happened and asked for my money back. The waiter said, "When was the last time we had an exterminator come?" He called the manager, who took 5 minutes to arrive, then she asked me to show her the roach. I told her I was pretty sure it was gone. I showed her all the little critters still liking down from the light and she said they couldn't come down from there. She told me it wasn't a big deal everyone has roaches. I don't have roaches. I'm very disappointed in her behavior and the lack of cleanliness.
