My son told me this place has the best tacos so he brought me here to prove it. I was blown away. I ordered a hard shell beef taco and a pork tamale and he insisted I try the traditional steak taco. After filling up on their yummy salsa and chips with a side of queso, I devoured my taco which was delish. Then I went to my steak taco, which was surprisingly scrumptious. Honestly, I was really looking forward to this. My first date with a girl I had been talking to for a while. She really wanted authentic Mexican food. Yelp, my best friend, and even the reviews all recommended this place. Couldn't go wrong, right? Now, before you think I'm being too salty or judgmental over this.. Go check out my profile. I rate nearly everything five stars. This is probably my first one star out of like 20 reviews. I'll start with the biggest offender. I ordered three tamales. Almost no filling at all. Look at the picture. Nothing there. It was just a thick pasta noodle with a floury texture. My date ordered the enchiladas. I tried hers too. Honestly, it wasn't anything too special. Wasn't good nor bad. I did appreciate the sauce though. It had a hint of sweetness to it. In all honesty though, she only ate one of the two. The chicken inside it was amazing too. She didn't think it was good enough to take home though. My water wasn't cold at all. I can drink room temp water, but it isn't expected at a restaurant. Not to mention the fact that it was never refilled. My date's water was cold though but hers was also never refilled. The chips were given to us as soon as we sat down. They were great. We ordered a side of queso dip with it. Best part of the experience, sadly. The chips were never refilled either though. Honestly, I shouldn't have paid for that considering the experience. I paid the full price to maintain face in front of my date. Didn't say a word until after ai paid. I didn't wanna be a Karen. I just told them there was nothing in my tamales and left. The waiter apologized and immediately went to tell the guy who made it. The waiter was nice, but clearly inattentive to our experience. Huge waste of my time and money; however, spending 20 dollars to know I'll never comeback is a pretty fair deal. From reading the other reviews and tips, go for the tacos. We are from Texas and had our doubts about Tex-Mex in Alabama, but, boy, were we wrong!I should've taken photos of our food, but it was all so delicious that we cleaned our plates before I thought of snapping pics. Our family of 5 ordered the sampler platter (enormous serving size - easily enough for 2 big eaters to share as a meal), shrimp tacos with nice gulf shrimp instead of those frozen shrimp a lot of restaurants put in their dishes, chicken wings that were perfectly battered and freshly fried but lacked flavor on their own...the sauce on side was yummy but spicy, tortilla soup (half order was HUGE and had a whole avocado and quite a bit of chicken), and a fajita burrito which was about 10 inches long and filled with perfectly seasoned fajita beef and chicken and sautéed veggies. The burrito sauce on top was so yummy, too! Oh, and the frozen house margaritas were delish! The building itself is quite unassuming. The location is eh, the curb appeal leaves a bit to be desired, and the restaurant is cluttered with stock all around the outskirts of the seating area. Great, fresh Mexican food in a fun and casual environment. Servers were attentive, and the dishes were excellent. I got the chimichanga, which came with a delicious cheese sauce on it. The Guacamole Fresco (pictured) was an interesting change to regular guacamole. There is a Mexican grocery store attached, which is fun to browse through. As for COVID, the restaurant is using their regular menus, and there were crumbs on our table when we sat down, so I don't think the table had been cleaned very well. I've gotten in the habit of wiping down every table with Lysol wipes I bring from home, and using hand sanitizer after handling anything but paper menus, so I just took care of things myself. Servers are wearing masks, and tables are socially distanced. I would have given five stars if there had been more attention to cleanliness. Overall, though, a great experience! read more

This place was one of the best Mexican restaurants I ate at during my time here in Mobile... and trust me I ate a lot of Mexican in that week. When you're on Airport Road, you honestly may miss it if you aren't looking because I never knew it existed and I've had my fair share of driving on Airport Road. We were seated and I decided to order the Mama J and some tacos with al pastor and chorizo. I usually dislike beans in my burrito but I was crazy for this one. Stuffed with tons of toppings and lots of queso on top... so delicious and super flavorful. I was blown away. I was further surprised with how tasty the tacos were... and bonus, they were stuffed with meat. I think that 3 or 4 of these bad boys and you're good to go! Excellent authentic tacos with a variety of meats that are hard to find (deep fried, crispy carnitas, chicharron, cachete, tripitas) as well as the standard al pastor, beef and chicken. Tacos are served with onion, cilantro, radishes, and a couple of fire-in-a-bottle sauces. Lots of enchilada, burrito, quesadilla, and grilled meat choices, too. Guacamole was a little bland, and I prefer chunkier salsa, but overall the food is great. Service is great - the staff is even gracious to the jerk at the table next to me. The customer service was alright; the servers themselves were hard to understand. The food was alright, and the drinks weren't watered down at all. There is a little bit more of a wait than expected, which includes the consideration of others around me. My father's food took a lot of time to get here. There is no other place like this in the Mobile area. The food is authentic and very tasty. They have things on the menu not included at your typical Mexican restaurant. The secret is Karaoke on Friday evening. It is fun having people step up and try to be the rock star they are in the car....except in front of a bunch of strangers! My Daughter introduced me to this place last year, have enjoyed eating here several times. Placed pick up order of chicken and steak street tacos along with an order of Chicken Soup. Got home and was very disappointed to find that the chicken in the tacos and in the soup were ground chicken clumped up like hamburger meat, I guess due to inflation they have had to cut corners and instead of using regular chicken they are now using cheaper ground chicken. I would make sure if you eat there ask your server if the chicken is ground chicken or regular chicken, it does not state ground chicken on their menu, I know I will if I ever decide to eat here again.
