"Great hole-in-the-wall Mexican near SFO airport" Came here for dinner at 6pm on a Monday night, based on good Yelp reviews. The place is unassuming-- has a thin stretch of outdoor seating and a handful of tables inside. Not super bright in lighting, and a TV inside was showing a baseball game. Seemed like a lot of the business was takeout, as people would come, hover, get food, and leave. I was GOING to order the fish tacos or a fish quesadilla, but I was swayed by the picture of a breaded fish plate special. My son got the carne asada quesadilla, and others at the table got a veggie burrito and a chicken bowl. Food came out pretty quick-- maybe around or just over 10 minutes (the fish plate and veggie burrito came out slightly after the other two). I was very impressed that the fish plate looked even BETTER than the photo (see photos of both). The fish was HUGE. There was a generous helping of guacamole, lots of fresh avocado slides, some onion and cabbage, etc. There was a nice bed of lettuce on the side with sour cream over it, and the rice & beans (covered with a thin layer of cheese) on another side. The fish plate was just delicious. The batter wasn't overpowering or too heavy, and the fish was excellent inside (and very flat). I really liked the sauce in a little cup on the fish, or having it with avocado or guacamole, or even straight. The rice and beans were yummy too. Such a great dish, and it was under $20 before tax and tip. My dining companions all liked their food, though my son said the carne asada meat was "just good" (he had a bite of the chicken and said that was better). The person at the register was friendly. And as mentioned, the prices were very reasonable. I'd happily eat here again if in the area. Great portion size, great quality, good value, etc. Enjoy! read more

The good: the burrito was tasty. The service was good. The bad: I ordered the California burrito, which is supposed to come with french fries. The burrito had potatoes, but they weren't french fries. They were boiled potato strips. Kind of somewhat annoying when that's what I was looking forward to. Also, I ordered a super burrito, but it was more like a taco. Finally back to enjoy my favorite fried fish tacos, when I'm In The area this is my favorite place. I ordered my usual, two fried fish taco plate. The rice and beans are freshly made. I normally get the black beans, but I was given the refried beans by accident. What a delicious accident, I will be getting these from now on. The fried fish is constantly delicious. They have added more plants and Christmas decorations to the outdoor dinning area. This is a must try if you haven't already. Jr is so friendly and helpful. I really trying hard to make this my number one Mexican spot, but the lack of seasoning on the prawns still persists. As a Mexican restaurant, flavor is be the number one thing I would expect from this restaurant and it is not delivering in the prawns area. Really this review is about my last meal, which was the Durango fries with shrimp. I've already spoken on the shrimp, but let's talk about the fries. I don't even know if they were cooked at all. They had no brown on them or crispiness. It was just like potato mush. Very disappointing, considering the fries have numerous wet ingredients on top of them, so they need a substantially crispy french fry to hold up to all of the sock. This dish did not deliver. Quick, friendly service. The al pastor was very fatty and had bacon‑like pieces and some pineapple (didn't care for it), but otherwise the burrito was solid. Popular spot at the Milbrae/San Bruno border. Decent quality, middling value. Ingredient quality is fine, and the service is fast and efficient. The fact that they offer tripas is a huge plus. If you are looking for a large burrito stuffed to the gills with meat accompanied by great salsas, this is not really the place. The price/portion ratio is on the expensive/small side. It's not a bad choice for the area, but there are nearby taco tracks that do a better job in my opinion. read more

After several visits this spot deserves another 5 star rating. It all starts with the friendly service and ends with a full belly. The lengua burrito, is cooked to a tender- melt in your mouth, savory flavor all wrapped in a flour tortilla. The crunchy tacos are another fan favorite. The tacos are covered in their pink salsa that brings out the flavors of the meaty goodness. The floutas are crispy and delicious with their pink salsa and crema served with rice and beans. Not too many places offer a taco salad served in a deep fried tortilla in the shape of a bowl. Usually when I order this salad the only thing left are crumbs. The newly updated interior makes it more inviting and bright. This spot doesn't disappoint. With the many items on their menu, there is something for just about everyone. Taqueria Mi Durango is Z's #1 favourite taco shoppe and has been our neighbourhood go-to taqueria for years. On average, we probably pick up food to go from here at least once a month. Venue: 3.5 stars. Located on El Camino in San Bruno, Mi Durango does not have a private lot, unfortunately, but there is a ton of free street parking. Sometimes you can find a spot just steps away from the front entrance. Indoor and al fresco dining is offered here. I love, love, LOVE their outdoor succulent garden in the patio. The main dining is small with just about a handful of tables and a salsa bar. Cleanliness of the interior could be taken up a notch or two. Food: 4 stars. The TACOS are the stars of Mi Durango, if you ask me. And why wouldn't they be? This place is a taqueria afterall. My go-tos are REGULAR TACOS, one each of generous heaps of CARNE ASADA, CHORIZO and PRAWN. They make THE BEST PRAWN TACOs! I also like their crispy FLAUTAS which V also enjoyed until he started to find bits of corn inside of them. Z never strays from his usual CALIFORNIA BURRITO with CARNE ASADA and DJ is faithful to the CHILE RELLENO. Their horchata is also good - no chalky residue at the bottom. Also, if you are ever there when they serve arroz con leche - get it!! Service: 4.5 stars Jesus gives nothing short of excellent, warm customer service. Definitely customer care is high priority here. I was disappointed, though, when we tried to hire Mi Durango to cook and serve onsite for one of our parties. I was passing by and decided to try this spot. Ordered: a shrimp taco, a fried fish taco, and a shrimp burrito. The good: *super friendly staff, and the customers they attract also seem like a friendly bunch *well-decorated and cozy space *open sauce bar :) the highlight was the delish onion side *food: generous amount of shrimp in the burrito, and the tacos came with great veggies and sauces What can improve IMO: *everything was kind of bland. Nice hole in the wall spot. There's a tiny salsa bar and a few indoor and outdoor seats. It may be easy to miss heading southbound on ELC. The super quesadilla was thick and quite filling. It is sliced in half and served on a plate. The chips were average but the salsa is great. Horchata is served via fountain. They have Mexican bottled coke make with cane sugar and no high fructose corn syrup. They have some pre packaged cake slices in the fridge as well that looked good. read more

Buyer Beware!!! They are charging more than their listed menu prices. Cali Burritos are supposed to be $14.95 right now but they charged me $16.10 each. That is 7.6% above listed menu price (and you will pay more sales tax). This was not because I had a special addition to the burrito. This was not a credit card surcharge. This is not sales tax. They straight up, charged me more than the menu price without any modifications. The guacamole here is delicious and FRESH! they do it right here. Lettuce fresh and so are the tomatoes. Thanks to a recommendation in a SJ Mercury article highlighting the best Bay Area tacos, we decided to give this place a try. It did not disappoint! We ordered both the grilled and fried fish tacos, and they were amazing but we preferred the grilled. Each taco was generously filled and served on a corn tortilla, with the fish grilled to perfection and topped with cabbage, lime, and a spicy salsa. While I would have given this place a five-star rating, the service was just okay. We had to wait a while for our free chips from the salsa bar. As we enjoyed the freebies, we realized our order had been forgotten. After inquiring about it, the staff managed to bring our food out shortly after. I have driven by this place so many times and decided to gov this place a try yesterday night (my birthday!). I did not want to dine in since I had a long day of work already! I just wanted to get food and eat! Their menu has lots of variety to choose from. I really wanted super nachos and it was the best choice I made! I ordered carne asada super nachos and also got a carne asada super burrito. The order did not take a long time as it was ready within 10 minutes so very speedy! I took my food home and took pictures of it. My super nachos were on point! OMG the chips were perfectly crispy and were not soggy at all! All of the toppers were perfectly portioned and made literally every bite delicious and well seasoned! I have not had really mouth watering nachos in a long time! I ate every last chip along with more pico de gallo salsa that I took from the salsa bar. I think they fry their chips in house! The carne asada was tender and well seasoned! I was very disappointed with what I thought should have been an al pastor wet burrito. What I tried to eat didn't seem anything like what it sounded like. It looked great, when I opened the lid, but it went downhill fast right after I got a mouthful of the "meat". It actually looked and felt like bacon, when it's not cooked throughly. I usually have my bacon on the well done, crispier side, but that's beside the point, because it was supposed to be a well marinated pork. My partner said that her fish tacos were fine, but she would prefer the other San Bruno Mexican restaurant down the block from this restaurant. I came here because one of my coworkers had a wet burrito from Mi Durango at work last week, it looked really good, and he said that they were his favorite place. Maybe next time I'll just stick to my standard carnitas burrito, regular, not wet? read more

Usually this place is pretty good but this last visit was a miss. The rice was soggy. The super burrito was missing guacamole. The food didn't taste like it used to. One of the Best burritos ive had (tripe) but the 2nd time I went and ordered the same item, it wasn't the same quality at all (within 2 weeks). Thats too big a risk for a $20 burrito. I'll try again..but not anytime soon. read more

None are labeled so it is crap shoot of how spicy it will be. When I came on a Monday night, all the tables were taken both inside and out. I may have stood there for about 10 minutes before a table opened up outside. Lucky me, I sat next to a bunch of loud biotech talkers. It was pretty annoying. When my food finally arrived, the taco salad was delicious. I like mixing it all up before I eat it. The refried beans at the bottom tasted even better with the melted cheese layer on top. But it was even hotter inside with no AC and a fan just blowing hot air. They have a large extensive menu with a lot of options. But the Durango nachos and super Al pastor burrito were underwhelming. I ordered takeout for lunch for my family on a Monday. Not many Mexican places are open on a Monday but Taqueria Mi Durango was. We placed a order via phone and were told that it would be ready in 15 to 20 minutes. We arrived in 15 minutes and the food was ready to go. I ordered the Super Quesadilla with carne asada, black beans, pico de Gallo on a wheat tortilla. They have a few options to choose from in terms of tortillas (flour, wheat, tomato, garlic, spinach, and chipotle). You can also choose between different types of beans (black, pinto, etc). I've previously gotten take out from here before but it's been a hot minute so I figured why not given them another try because I really do not remember what I got the previous times. They have some seating inside and a patio on the side. They also have a salsa bar on the side where it is self serve. Ranging from reds to greens and vinegar onion/carrot veggies. The Super Quesadilla was good, but my taste buds were pretty confused. The combination tasted like a burger. The carne asada was not grilled enough. It was more like a ground beef. There were no charcoal smoky flavor to it at all. Usually the quesadillas I get are drier because the carne asada is usually a drier meat. This quesadilla was a bit more soggy because of the meat unfortunately. Overall, it was good but it was not anything I would rave about. Wow I love the wooden exterior of this restaurant. Such a unique touch. They have indoor and outdoor seating. I got carne asada crispy tacos (comes with three), a side of guacamole, chips, and salsa. I really enjoy the wide range of sauce selection. From pico de gallo, habanero sauce, salsa verde, cilantro sauce maybe, mild sauce, and medium sauce. It all tasted really good and fresh. The super burritos at this place are really super! My husband and I are regulars at this place. Eating at Taqueria Mi Durango on the weekends has become a tradition for us. The staff is always welcoming and the atmosphere is casual and friendly. I love that there is a TV, so we have watched basketball and soccer games while enjoying crispy chips with guacamole and warm burrito.
