Right in DT south city, this is a low key spot where the plates are super tasty!! With La Tapatia around the corner, if you don't feel like waiting in that line then bring that azz over here!! lol Been going here for years with my fam and it is such a solid spot you really can't leave unsatisfied. 10/10 is what I said but don't take my word for it, try it for yourself!!

Shout out to my brother's friend, Carlos, for introducing us to this place. He claimed it's was "the best burrito in the Bay Area" and we were not disappointed, 10/10! We tried the chicken burrito and the carne asada burrito and split them to try both. The rice has good flavor, not dry, the chicken is seasoned, the beans are well cooked, and the guacamole has the perfect consistency to add flavor and moisture to the burrito so you enjoy it in every bite. The ingredients are perfectly balanced and there's flavor and happiness in every bite. The horchata is nostalgic. It reminds me of my mom's horchata. Overall, service was great, food was even better, and I will definitely be coming back.

Moved to So. City from the Mission district so it's very very hard to match that standard. I've been looking around the neighborhood for some tacos packed with flavor and was hoping that Los Metates could deliver, unfortunately it missed the mark big time. The carne asada was very dry with little to no flavor (not even a little char or grease) it reminded me of almost boiled meat. The Al pastor was also dry, a little char but you couldn't taste any of the spices the Al pastor is usually marinated with. The carnitas were cooked well, but again NO flavor. I asked for everything on my tacos, just to see that everything was thrown in all together with hardly any cilantro or chopped onions. The limes were hellllllla dried out too. Thank God I bought a drink I needed to wash it down, because it was getting stuck in my throat. Not worth it.

The spot is small but very cozy. I walked in very hungry and with zero expectations - just rolling the dice hoping that the food was good and I'm so glad that I did! the food was bomb. I got 2 tacos de asada & 1 platter. The green salsa and sesame seed salsa were bomb! The meat was also so tasty in comparison to other Mexican food spots in the Bay Area and the services was kind and checked in a couple times to ensure we were well taken care of. I will for sure be going back

First time ordering to go from this restaurant. We had the super nachos and carne asada plate. Super nachos- loaded with meat and everything. I read one of the reviews that nachos are thicker compared to other restaurant nachos and yes thumbs up for that. Carne asada plate- just 2 garnish on the meat sliced grilled white onions and grilled jalapeño. I love the meat when you can see the grilled mark and grilled taste and simple garnish but the taste is there!! Overall we love it...I guess this is a cash only restaurant.

    Taco de cabeza

Came in on Saturday around lunch time, there was no one there but it looked like before we came in there had been a few people there as there was tables with plates on them. Ordered a super burrito , 2 asada tacos , 1 Cabeza taco,a torta cubana, a jarrito and a canned coke for a total of $48.00 . -Al pastor Burrito was a 9/10 it was flavorful and really good. -asada tacos were 9/10 again the asada was full of flavor and tortillas were good. -torta cubana was 7/10 wasn't a traditional torta cubana as it didn't have the milanesa im use to inside of it. Flavors were ok not bad still edible. - Cabeza taco I would rate a 5/10 for the reason being that it had an after taste if you have eaten cabeza before you know what I'm talking about , It doesn't always have that flavor but for some reason at some restaurants it does. Would I go back ? Yes, but I would definitely try the other items on their menu !

Frequent consumer of Los Metates and the quality is top notch in addition to the great service. 10/10 would recommend if you're around and hungry.

Love their chicken mole! I haven't had a good mole in a long time and was excited we got this here. The horchata was good too. We visited close to closing but the staff said we can eat inside if we liked and gave us extra tortilla chips.

For take out today we decided Los Metates. We ordered a Super Burrito de carne asada, Chile Relleno dinner (comes with rice and beans), and Steak picado (also comes with rice and beans. The burrito was delicious -Carne asada, rice, whole beans, cream, guacamole, and cheese, all proportioned just right. Every bite had a mixture of all. It was good, and tasted fresh and it was big enough that I'm saving the other half for lunch tomorrow. The other dishes we ordered were also well served, and for what I can see, they were also good because all I see are the empty to-go containers. Los Metates also offers a variety of other dishes which are also pretty good. Tacos, ceviche tostadas, and caldo de res, are a few I can highly recommend. PROS *They offer a variety of dishes *Take out is available *Local business that's been around for quite a while *Friendly CONS *Sometimes they change cooks, but mostly they're consistent

Came here for dinner. Had a super steak taco and a corn quesadilla. Steak was bland. The tortillas were hard. It's not as good as I remember them to be. The last time we were here was a couple of years ago. Husband got a regular chicken taco. I tasted the chicken and the chicken was pretty tasty. He also had a fish taco. They use sea bass for that. I didn't taste it, but he said it was good. Kids both had a super steak burrito and my son said he liked his but thought it was too spicy. My daughter didn't care for it. Parking is hard to find. Had to keep circling around the block until someone from the parking lot next to it left. The girl at the counter wasn't too friendly. Looked at her phone when I was trying to order. Cell reception seems spotty n

"Great hole-in-the-wall Mexican near SFO airport"…read more Came here for dinner at 6pm on a Monday night, based on good Yelp reviews. The place is unassuming-- has a thin stretch of outdoor seating and a handful of tables inside. Not super bright in lighting, and a TV inside was showing a baseball game. Seemed like a lot of the business was takeout, as people would come, hover, get food, and leave. I was GOING to order the fish tacos or a fish quesadilla, but I was swayed by the picture of a breaded fish plate special. My son got the carne asada quesadilla, and others at the table got a veggie burrito and a chicken bowl. Food came out pretty quick-- maybe around or just over 10 minutes (the fish plate and veggie burrito came out slightly after the other two). I was very impressed that the fish plate looked even BETTER than the photo (see photos of both). The fish was HUGE. There was a generous helping of guacamole, lots of fresh avocado slides, some onion and cabbage, etc. There was a nice bed of lettuce on the side with sour cream over it, and the rice & beans (covered with a thin layer of cheese) on another side. The fish plate was just delicious. The batter wasn't overpowering or too heavy, and the fish was excellent inside (and very flat). I really liked the sauce in a little cup on the fish, or having it with avocado or guacamole, or even straight. The rice and beans were yummy too. Such a great dish, and it was under $20 before tax and tip. My dining companions all liked their food, though my son said the carne asada meat was "just good" (he had a bite of the chicken and said that was better). The person at the register was friendly. And as mentioned, the prices were very reasonable. I'd happily eat here again if in the area. Great portion size, great quality, good value, etc. Enjoy!

The burrito had potatoes, but they weren't french fries. They were boiled potato strips. Kind of somewhat annoying when that's what I was looking forward to. Also, I ordered a super burrito, but it was more like a taco. Burritos here are really small so if you're hungry, forget about it.

The cups were filled only halfway. The woman (Imelda was the name on the receipt) told Z that they didn't fill the cups up to the brim because of the no ice request. So....does that mean that they fill up cups with 50% ice?? Any way that you look at it, it's CHEAP and a major turn off. For my dish, I ordered the Tijuana Taco Salad ($16.75), requesting to separate ONLY the bowl-shaped flour tortilla shell from the contents (with no cheese). To ensure that they understood my simple request, I repeated to keep the salad contents in one container and the flour tortilla shell separate from everything. What I received was a fully deconstructed taco salad - every salad ingredient was packed separately. Pretty frustrating that they didn't follow the easy and straightforward instructions. DJ ordered the A-1 GRANDE COMBINACION of Enchilada, Chile Relleno and Taco, replacing the taco with another chile relleno and specifying his enchilada as cheese with Mole sauce. Another fail - the enchilada was filled with chicken AND topped with red sauce. DJ is a vegetarian, so what he received was not something that he could eat. Extremely upsetting, Z tried to call them and knock on their door to discuss the issues with our order. No one bothered to pick up the phone nor answer the locked door. Very disappointing. Like I said in my original review, service, even for take-out, is under par at Celia's San Bruno. We haven't experienced such majorly low quality of service at locations #1 through #5 above. Severely unsatisfactory.
