If you ever happen to be going through Soledad (whether to Pinnacles or maybe the Prison), this THE place. The tacos are better than any I've found in the Bay Area. In addition to the quality, I swear the tacos here are twice larger and half the price. $8 (after tax!) gets you four jumbo tacos on homemade tortillas. The carnitas are excellent, and the carne asada (of which I'm usually not a huge fan) are also really good. It's inside the little mercado at the north end of the main drag, so a little hard to find if you don't know what to look for. read more

Great tacos! Try the al pastor, carnitas, chile verde, and ribs on a 4 taco plate! The corn tortillas are made fresh from corn masa--they roll it, press it flat, and heat it up on the grill to order. Stopped by this place on our way to visit family for the holidays. This was hands down the best Mexican food we've had. My husband loves Menudo and has to get it where ever we go. I normally can't stand it. But I had a taste of his soup and it was really, really tasty. My son, who's normally a very picky eater ate 3/4 of his super huge burrito and nearly made his belly burst by taking "just one more bite". We saw them making the corn tortillas from scratch - straight from the dough, to the presser and onto the hot grill. We got some of their chicharons and it was amazing! It's truly remarkable the delicious food they can make in their little kitchen. It'll be a regular stop on our southbound drives in the future. We may even stop by again on our way home! read more

Easy off and on from Hwy 101 in Soledad, this market-based eatery was amazing. We stopped for the clear 5 STAR rating and were glad we did. THEY MADE MY CORN TORTILLAS FRESH to fill the order... and they were wonderful. We had simple fare: carne asada tacos and chili verde burrito, but they were delicious. The rice and beans in the burrito were so delicious that my husband commented on them. Prices were excellent and the wait was reasonable when ordering to go. Had we had time to stay, their many menu items would have made it hard to chose. Several I would have had to ask what they were. The hot food area had a good sized seating area where you can enjoy a beer or soda while you wait, enjoy your meal, and observe the in and out of regular customers. I also want to give a shout out to the meat market and store. The cleanliness and organization of the meat counter took my breath away when I got to it... made me wish I could shop there from a home 2 hours away. Beautiful, fresh cuts of meat and prepared items ready to take home and cook. We will be back often on our way north. Recommend this place wholeheartedly. read more

Thank you to the previous reviewers who mentioned the guacamole. For around five dollars we got a massive serving of made-to-order guacamole that set the bar for the guacamole I'll be looking for from now on. Every ingredient tasted perfectly fresh, and I mean even the onion. Also delicious, the tacos al pastor. If I didn't live a thousand miles away I'd be coming back weekly. read more
