We had the 4 tacos and the sope combo that came with rice and beans. The tacos were made with handmade tortillas and the sope was made with fresh masa as well. They didn't have many people sitting to eat (could be because it's a Wednesday afternoon) but many people came in to take food to go. This place is iconic in this small town . They have your very basic Mexican foods like tacos,sopes etc that almost anyone can enjoy . For me , the gorditas are a huge hit . They pack it with meat of your choice ,lettuce ,tomato,salsa and cream . The fried Gordita is what makes it excellent though . Crispy on the outside and fluffy inside . They have menudo and birria on the weekends which seems to be the biggest hit . You'll see lines all morning long till they run out . About a month ago i forgot my purse on one of the seating areas... It had been about an hour before i realized i didn't have my purse and it had about $800 in cash.. OMG, what a great find. It's a hole-in-the-wall INSIDE La Placita Mercado. It's open daily 8-8. All the food is made fresh, nothing is pre-made. I ordered a combo of 4 beef tacos, rice & beans. All for $10. I like crunchy and they were crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside. Kind of like a Taco Bell Crunch Wrap but only one tortilla. They were good! I could only eat two. Lots of well cooked beef inside. The rice was OK and the beans tasty. Looking forward to the carnitas. I saw several people order this and it looked tasty. There are tables inside. Drinks, other than Horchata you can buy from the market. The market has a big selection. Jorge, the owner will make your food how you want it. They do serve breakfast burritos. Just tell him what you want. Prices are very inexpensive. Lots of parking in the lot or on the street. Easy on/off the freeway. Call ahead if you want it to go while on the road. read more

I am writing this on service alone. Although the staff was nice and busy, we placed our order at 1120, about 10 people ordered after us and every single person was seated eating (a few near done) or the rest left the building with to-go orders. After a lady with a large order placed after us left, I asked where ours was, this was about 20-25 minutes. They said yours is next and the tortillas put down were made into burritos for someone else. At 35 minutes I asked again. He said you're next. I thought, I've heard that before. Not sure why our order was passed over multiple times but it's 1212 and we just got our food. 52 minutes for 2 quesadillas to go and no other patrons waiting for food. read more

Some of the best Mexican food in town especially good is the roasted chicken the carnitas and the pork ribs very good.
