I've visited several times and have sampled different items on the menu, and nothing really has stood out to me to the fact that I want to return. If you are next door at Olde House, this is a convenience as they will deliver directly to you inside. Portion wise, it's a good amount, so no complaints on that front and the service is pretty good. Being a strip mall Mexican restaurant, nothing to rave about in terms of ambiance, but I am totally fine with that as it's more so about the food for me. We tried out Taqueria Sonoma through a delivery service and went with their Super Burritos--we were not disappointed! The burritos were large and the flour tortillas were soft and had an excellent chew. We tried carnitas and al pastor, and both were well seasoned and tasty. The refried beans, rice and homemade guacamole incorporated into the burritos were also excellent quality. We washed them down with bottled Mexican Coke, and we appreciated the drinks arriving well-chilled. Look forward to trying other parts of the menu the next time we are in Sonoma! read more

The food is good in general, but I feel like the prices are pretty high.I paid $20 for a bowl of posole! If you think about it, that is a lot of money for what is basically corn and pork stew. Tacos are very expensive as well. You can spend over six dollars on a taco here. These foods used to be the staples of cheap eating, but these days it's very expensive to go out here. A recent surprise quick trip to visit my best bud landed my fat ass in Sonoma and Mexican food was to be had. Seeing that I'm from San Diego and that we parade our Mexican fare as the best in the land, my expectations were pretty low. Welp, my expectations were met. In fairness we did not seek this place out but rather stumbled upon it when on a lengthy walk so you will see this review as one of many that I compose over the next few days summarizing our little taco-walk. Two tacos were ordered, two tacos were consumed - the crispy shell al pastor and the shredded chicken. Crispy shell al pastor: The shell was seemingly straight out of the box. A slightly better version of an Old El Paso that you'd find at your local grocery store and it was piled high with lettuce and cheese. Eh, decent, a better shell would elevate this taco. Shredded chicken: This taco was served on a corn tortilla and had some decently seasoned chicken but was certainly nothing to write home about. In both cases a little homemade salsa would go a long way here. Maybe it's a San Diego thing but the Mexican places IN Sonoma just don't seem to have salsa bars the way they do in SD and would make a world of difference. It was overpriced considering that the battered fish in the tacos was obviously frozen and probably taken out of that Gorton's brand yellow bag for frozen seafood bites. The staff is always friendly and the food is always served up fresh. The Pollo Deshenbrado is not too dry and not to wet, it's just perfect and moist. The carne Asada is also wonderful. All I can say is that it was good - good in taste and good in size. Because no one should get as sick as I did I threw up dry heaving for hours after eating here. Bright orange bad food poisoning which means they don't do proper health and code procedures with the handling of their food. It is probably the worst thing that can be said is overpriced and food poisoned. All is true about this place. Also I don't want to pay all that money for no service they make you get your own chips and salsa. I actually was okay leaving feeling ripped off but not getting sick 3 hours later. I was so ill. Fast forward I didn't tip when I signed my credit card she gave me an awful look. Little did she know I left a cash tip on the table after eating my meal. I told myself I'm gonna get sick watch. Do not eat here. I do not know what happened to the original owners of this place, but whoever owns it now is doing a terrible job. It is unclean the tables are sticky and they leave a rag near the salsa tray. Furthermore you couldn't even see the salsa , the plexiglass is scratched so badly. While staying at the Sonoma Mission Inn I had the distinct pleasure of having lunch at the Taqueria Sonoma. Tucked away in a small shopping center off Sonoma Highway and Siesta Way. Sample: Caldo De Res The beef stew is wonderful. I was not up for the whole bowl, but it was packed full of meat and vegetables. The veggies are cut up small meaning that it is cooked while the customer waits. This is a good thing since it means everything is fresh. The broth tasted just the way I like. Full of flavor. I was a little surprised to see tomatoes in the broth. The color is a bit reddish, and not as clear as it often is. Nonetheless the taste is the all important determiner of satisfaction. The soup comes with chips and salsa since it is over $5.00. The beef stew is packed with meat too. The meal also includes Spanish rice and tortillas of your choice. Flour or corn. They also include a small cob of corn in the soup and potatoes. Very satisfying. read more
