You can get it on a flour tortilla, which would be one whole large tortilla; or if you want it on corn tortillas, you get three small tortillas which look like tacos. We'd heard of the place and wanted to check it out. It's located in a restaurant in a small strip mall off Montgomery Ave that used to be a long time established taqueria that closed down. The place was clean and nicely remodeled with a little bar section open at one end. We went to the bar side as it was pretty full in the main restaurant part and loud and we wanted to hear each other talk. Where we say we had this little windows bite into a team of 3 or 4 chefs cooking away. My daughter and i were greeted by a very friendly waitress who sat us and gave us menus and we ordered coffee first as it was Sunday afternoon and we'd missed out coffee earlier. Nice start, but then the coffee was not quite hot enough but tolerable. I figured I'd get another refill soon that would probably be hotter. Meanwhile we ordered food. We were not overly starving so we got a lighter meal of the Burria beef tacos (comes with 3 for $14, so we ordered an extra 1 for $5 so we could have two each). They had several other type tacos that look good but they don't allow mix and match. It does not come with chips, you must order separately, nice quality homemade chips (smallish size) that comes with about1/3 cup serving pico de gallo sauce for $8, then they'll give you a sample of their two hot sauces for free, a creamy habanero, which is spicy, but just ok flavor wise, definitely better than their green mild salsa that tastes like it came out of a can. The pico de gallo is fresh snd very average, not bad at all, just nothing unusual. The tacos were tasty. But the refill of coffee never came till we finished eating and she asked if we acted to top it off. I said yes please and was poured a lukewarm cup o joe that tasted like it had been sitting a while. She forgot the half n half which is how i take my coffee. The first time she only brought a shot size mini pitcher of the precious cream which was barely enough for two cups to use! Anyway the cold coffee put a damper on the whole experience. I'd been looking at the breakfast menu for the future which looks good but you definitely gotta have good coffee. $8 for our two coffees, should have been her tip. Just could not give that big a tip, sorry because we were kind of forgotten. The experience with the coffee just made me think more about our tacos and sauce. While they were good, the whole thing was over priced. We paid $40 before tip for 4 average / small size regular tacos, a side of 1/2 avocado ($3), two regular refillable lukewarm warm old coffees($8), and the small order of chips with salsa($8). It would have been just as good and much less expensive at other places featuring Mexican food and we have some of the best Mexican food around in this town. Note, this is NOT the same or any connection with the other Parkside cafe in town. That place is called Dierk's Parkside cafe and is a whole other incredible culinary experience. read more

Honestly this is one of my favorite restaurants on the entire planet. My parents used to live in Sonoma and now that they've moved I still drive 30+ minutes to come here whenever I can. The quality of the food is phenomenal and lovingly made by a talented staff. They're always collaborating with local vendors - the T&K drink mixes they stock here are fantastic. Then they keep adding new things of their own, this past week I tried their hibiscus margarita for the first time as well as the baked goods made on site by a talented woman who's often at the counter. I could tell just by looking at the mini cakes and pastries that they were excellent, so our group bought three different items to share, and each one was ridiculously good. Sure the guacamole, enchiladas, mole, tacos, and more would be enough to keep me coming back, but I swear Sonoma Eats should get bakery credit now too. Wish I had taken photos before we feasted on everything, but it gives me a reason to come back again soon! read more

The most unassuming Mexican joint! My boyfriend and I were staying at the Fairmont and wanted a quick and easy bite. We stumbled into this place and got a carne asada burrito, 2 tacos and chips and guacamole. The inside is very clean and quiet. We were pleasantly surprised by the food!! Wow this place was really great when we visited. The order was huge, so be mindful you get a lot of food. The service was great. The young man was super sweet, patient, and knowledgeable. Sonoma Eats left a lot to be desired. Not one Latin person eating in the establishment should have been a giveaway. The tortillas were dry and stale, which is a dealbreaker for tacos and set the tone for the rest of the meal. The shrimp tacos felt uninspired, lacking fresh and vibrant components like cabbage, lettuce, pickled onions, or even a generous sprinkle of cilantro leaf's and diced tomato to bring it all together. Everything tasted flat, no salt, no spice, as if no real thought was put into balancing flavors and textures. To make matters worse, the food took a long time to arrive on the table, which only added to the disappointment. Overall, it felt like the experience didn't live up to its potential, leaving it squarely in the "mid" category. Since my previous review there's a new venue (down the highway 500 yards) and a new menu. The new location has a slightly larger dining room but a smaller outdoor number of tables. Inside, the tables are ridiculously small. Doll house small, I mean if you put a big lap top on a table there would be no space for a small plate of food. Menu size and scope is smaller than the old place. Maybe not as adventurous but more focused. Focused on tacos. Tuesday taco night features 8 selections. Some of which are a pretty good deal, some less so. My 2 tacos and a beer, $12 wasn't much food. The soft tacos use those little 4" diameter tortillas. You know they can hold about 2 level tablespoons of filling at best. The al pastor meat and pineapple slice was supremely delicious, but there was not much of it. It's a snack, not a meal. Barbara had the 3 shrimp taco plate. The tortillas are the same impish size but with three tacos holding 2 shrimp it becomes a more satisfying mini-meal. The sauce and flavors are distinctly different than my meat tacos. If I return, and kind'a on the fence about that, it would be for taco Tuesday 5 tacos plate. Maybe then I wouldn't exit the room feeling that I should go down the street to El Molino Central for a real meal. read more

Staff is always so friendly and helpful with choosing what you want to eat. This is a Oaxacan lunch/dinner spot. I love that you can get your coffee fix at the same time because they are in the same building as barking dog coffee. I shared tacos de papa with a friend. The tacos were fried perfectly and were so chubby and full of papa. The flavor was so good. They were soft inside and crunchy outside. It paired great with the guacamole it comes with. They have a fairly big seating area inside and if the day is nice, they also have a very lovely outside seating area. Prices are reasonable for the amount of food you get. read more

I have been eating at Sonoma Eats for a long time. My go-to's were Mole Enchiladas, Baja Fish Tacos, and Shrimp Tacos. But now they're serving breakfast. Some of the best chilaquiles! I usually add chorizo and they're now adding steak to the menu. Delicious!! And I can't forget to add something about their salads! A wonderful selection of greens, sprouts, seeds, with a light but tasty dressing. The salads change seasonally but all are terrific. This restaurant is a MUST!!! read more

My first time here (recommended by a local) and excited to check out their Mexican food. Interior is clean and bright with the posted menus having large print (helpful with my older eyes). My friends and I were not sure what to order and because there was no line behind us we felt it ok to ask questions about the menu items. I was surprised when I asked (the chef/owner I believe) if the tacos were like the size of "street tacos" he looked at me and replied seriously he did not know what street tacos are. Huh? I only wanted to gage how much to order. I ordered the mushroom enchilada with mole sauce which was an ample size and quite tasty. The mole was flavorful- a bit sweeter than I'm used to however. The accompanying rice and beans- black beans were creamy & tasty, the rice was quite bland. We also ordered chips & salsa (they are not complimentary) and the chips were nice and crispy which I love. We ordered the Sangria which was yummy- $12 a glass is more than I typically pay. My friend had the shrimp tacos which were good but didn't have much more than shrimp in them. My other friend ordered a carnitas burrito which was enormous and she said delicious. My friend asked if they offer a birthday dessert (we were celebrating my birthday) and we were told no. We ordered the flan anyway to share amongst us- it had the perfect texture. We also tried to order coffee but we're told the coffee part of the restaurant was closed which we found surprising.
