Used to LOVE this place before all the ownership changes about 5 years ago. They used to have a cool chef from Bottega around 2021 who made an effort to get to know us. Now it's just very plain, drab, dried out meats. Visited 3/16/26 went all in with an open mind hoping to relive that culinary magic that used to thrive here. Got the carnitas burrito and carne asada / carnitas tacos. Sadly it was all a miss. Almost everywhere in Napa gives complimentary chips salsa, maybe $1 or 2 for refill or no charge at all . Tannyas charges $4 for stale rock hard cold corn chips and charge for extra salsa. No refills! I wouldn't even mind paying for chips and salsa if it was good, but it just wasn't at all. Not BAD but ive had better at home or from the grocery store. The burrito was fairly small. Super Average filled with subpar bland spanish rice & refried beans. Carnitas was dried out. We ordered a couple more tacos those were sadly really uneventful. Super dry. Old. Not much flavor. Hard shell was tough brittle. Almost cut up my mouth a few times on the chips. Hopefully tannyas can get it together. Bring back the good food. read more

They are in fact one of the few lower cost options in Napa, so there can be a line but worth the wait . They have a great selection of full Mexican meals or your standard, taco and burrito offerings but by no means is the food standard. They make great food here and the prices are fair if not great for what you receive. I love a good pastor, it's a nice marinated meat in a red sauce. Yummy. Our group settled into our VRBO after a long day of travel and we were looking for a nearby place to grab some comfort food. I found Tannya's on Yelp and we walked over. The entry is a line to an order counter. You get a number and settle at a table. Long line at counter - good sign. We asked a mom with 2 kids and a big to-go order what was good. She replied "everything" and kept walking. That was promising but not helpful, since the wall menu had scores of options. Our group of 8 Texans with extensive Mexican food experience tried a full range of options: street tacos, tostadas, guacamole & chips, enchiladas, shrimp tacos, etc. Big thumbs up all around the table. My reputation as a finder of fun eateries was bolstered! We all agreed that the order-taker guy was the most enthusiastic salesman we've ever encountered at an order window. Quick Stop at Tannya's Taqueria During one of our recent visits to Napa, we got hungry on our way back and didn't want to spend too much time in a restaurant. As we were discussing options, we came across Tannya's Taqueria. I chose a couple of tacos, Carnitas (pork), and Shredded Beef. Both were delicious. We shared a Horchata to drink, and that was tasty, too. Rice was still raw and crunchy. Portions were so small. Seriously? Chicken flautas were greasy. Eewww. Carne Asada tacos were dry and cold. Terrible corn tortilla shells. We asked for spicier salsa. But, we were given 2 salsa neither which was spicy. They were not busy at all but we had to wait for 30+ minutes for a easy-peasy order. Some patrons were waiting even longer. I just don't get it. My last meal before departing Napa for points south and east, my friend brought us to Tannya's. Definitely one of the least expensive meals I've had in this part of California. Which is not to say that there was any tradeoff for deliciousness. It's a taqueria so I chose tacos. They also have burritos and platters and such. But my three taco plate with beef, chicken and al pastor. Delicious authentic tacos topped with onions and cilantro and some rather spicy pickled carrots. Oh so good. I usually love this place but today I was really disappointed with how long we waited for our Togo order. They took our order, then proceeded to bring food for all of the customers that ordered after us at the tables. we waited almost 30 minutes for two tacos and a quesadilla. Amazing fresh authentic food! This is a hidden gem where so many locals go. Wait staff is genuinely kind and friendly; we use to always try and go in the afternoons when Eddie (original owner and executive chef) was there. My favorites are their quesadillas (carne asada), burritos (carnitas or spicy mole), taco salad (house chicken), and tostada de ceviche. The chips are fried perfectly. Centrally located, right on Jefferson St. There is plenty of parking in the lot with a really cool Welcome to Napa mural on the wall of the building opposite of the taqueria. The place is on the smaller side with maybe a dozen or so tables. It has cute decor (medieval looking chandelier/light fixtures) and nice curtains draped along the outside. Two things we're going against finding a very good burrito in Napa number one I come from the mission district where if you know there are amazing burritos there number two. My husband loves burritos as soon as I checked into my bed-and-breakfast decided to take a walk and google the nearest Taqueria And this place was within walking distance when you arrive you can hear the guy at the register talking. He's very friendly and he attends to every guest accordingly I am in town for a music festival this weekend and I just wanted something to eat quick and they were quick with the food, cute little restaurant outdoor seating as well as indoor seating, but the burrito was amazing.
