One of the best spots in the area! Taqueria Tejupilco is the kind of place that makes you want to come back again and again. The food was absolutely outstanding--fresh, authentic, full of flavor, and prepared perfectly. You can really taste the quality and care that goes into every order. The service was just as impressive. Everyone was friendly, welcoming, attentive, and made us feel genuinely appreciated as customers. The atmosphere is comfortable and inviting, and the entire experience from beginning to end was excellent. It's becoming harder to find places that combine amazing food, great portions, reasonable prices, and genuinely good customer service, but Taqueria Tejupilco delivers on all of it. This is definitely a hidden gem on Broadway and a place I'll happily continue supporting. Coming from Texas, I've had the hardest time finding good tacos. This place transported me right back. I unfortunately have an aversion to cilantro and forgot to ask without it, but after the first bite I didn't even care it was that good. Very friendly and really quick service. We ordered the large chicken quesadilla (5/5), the two taco dinner with rice and beans (4/5), steak torta (5/5) and the horchata (5/5). I especially loved the chicken quesadilla as the chicken was very flavorful and cooked to perfection. My wife and I have been going here ever since they opened a few years ago. Honestly the best Mexican food in the neighborhood if not one of the best in the entire city. One of the sleeper items are their double cheeseburgers with fries. Burgers are to the point and well constructed and have an unctuous house sauce. Fries are battered which give them that crispy texture. I know it sounds wild but trust me, next time you want a burger, go here. But the stars of the show are the lengua and birria tacos. I usually get two of each when I go. That table against the window is my favorite spot to eat in all of Lakeview. read more

Since it's National Taco Day, it felt like the perfect time to try this new taqueria in Lakeview East. The food was fresh, tasty, and authentic. The service was efficient and the ambiance is very simple. There are a few tables for dine in, but it seems like a lot of people are doing takeout. We tried several tacos and both agreed that the carne asada was the best. The others, chicken, al pastor, birria, and chorizo were all good, too. The two salsas were very tasty and had the right amount of kick. Pro Tip: the tacos come with only cilantro and onion, so we each ordered a vegetarian taco and scooped a bit of that filling onto each of the other tacos for some additional sabor.
