My friends and I stopped by for lunch on Sunday and loved it! I've been to Taqueria Tsunami plenty of times because I grew up near the Marietta Square, but for my friends it was their first time being there. They enjoyed it :) The chicken enchilada bowl is one of my long-term favorites and it hit the spot again this weekend! I tried my friend's calamari and it tasted amazing, lots of flavor. And the cilantro lime crema that came with it was awesome. My other friend ordered a bowl as well but I am forgetting the name of it. I tried the steak from it and I thought it was good as well! The mocktail I ordered was good but could benefit from a stronger strawberry flavor. The hostess and our server were both very friendly and helpful, we were sat with no wait, and the location is great. The prices are incredible in my opinion. $12 for the chicken enchilada bowl that can easily be considered two meals - is a great deal in my book :) I'd happily come back when in Athens read more

I can't believe we were able to get it and out during a Georgia homecoming game. When we first arrive we were told there would be a 30-45 minute wait, which was fine because it was Saturday,during game day and just about every restaurant was pack full. Still coming in at 4 stars for me. One of the tacos fell flat on the flavor but the other was really tasty! The guacamole was absolutely amazing but the chips were so thin they kept breaking and couldn't scoop anything with them. The queso that came with the tots was delicious. Very mediocre Mexican fusion. In my opinion extremely overhyped. I got the south of the border bowl with chicken and steak. Steak was really nicely cooked and seasoned, but the chicken was dry. The rice was supposed to be Spanish rice but it seemed like it was white rice mixed with salsa. It was mushy and under seasoned. I didn't eat these nachos, I had my spiritual awakening with them. The moment that first bite hit my tongue, I remembered all my past lives and every single one of them was craving these nachos. I was in the minority of our group who ate here. I didn't like the ultra-trendy and cold industrial vibe, nor did I think that our meals were a great value. Our server was so sweet and helpful and prompt. In fact, I think she and the kitchen were a little TOO prompt as our lunches were served in mere moments, making me wonder how much was pre-prepared or just zapped/kissed by a grill for heat. The 3 taco plus side meal is probably the best deal and gave us the opportunity to try a few different tacos, and we also had a grilled shrimp salad with avocado and corn that was just so-so. Good food, good service. We visited around lunchtime and were seated immediately. We ordered the avocado eggrolls for an appetizer. They served a sweet chili sauce with them, and it was amazing! My daughter had the asian nachos. She liked them, but the beef was scarce. I had the chicken chipotle taco, the shrimp tempora, and the rich man's taco. They all were delicious. I added the sweet chili sauce on them, and it, which made them even better. The meal came with tater tots and jalapeño queso. The queso is good with no spice. Chill, inexpensive and very satisfying Asian Mex fusion restaurant in downtown. Not fancy and really fun. I had the Quattro taco. Would recommend the Bulgogi taco anytime. This is a pretty busy place due to the location and popularity, but a really nice place to stop by if you're looking for a place to eat while strolling in downtown Athens. I have been here at least 3 times on different occasions. Once with a friend, a date, and to watch the game, and it was great for all 3 occasions. I have gotten the South of the Border bowl the past 2 times and it's both filling and healthy which is fantastic! Since it's located in downtown Athens, parking can be a hassle depending on the day and time. During summers, parking is plenty, and ofc parking is free on weekends. read more

I'm a big fan of Taqueria Tsunami. In my experience they've been consistent in quality, freshness & taste. Definitely one of my favorite places to eat when I'm craving something dimensional like their Korean carnitas taco or want a staple like a salad or bowl. I usually do the quatro with rice & beans. I change up my tacos depending on my mood but my absolute fav has gotta be the Korean carnitas. I have had probably 80% of the tacos & they're all just as good. The only criticism of this location is the service is not very great. They're always friendly but it's slow & sometimes seems like you're forgotten. But with that being said I definitely still recommend trying it out! The food never disappoints & it's Athens, so you know you're already gonna be waiting at least a little bit PS I RECOMMEND getting the lettuce wrap instead of tortillas because they aren't authentic tortillas & the lettuce wrap keeps things lighter & doesn't mess with the flavor of the taco read more

Came here on a Friday night. Just purely for the drinks and a few apps. The Dragonberry Mojito is probably the best drink I've ever had in Athens and I've been here for a while. What a great spot! We stopped here for lunch while at a conference at the Classic center. It was delicious. A great mix of latin and asian, with good flavors. Their guac and queso were very good. I love that you can mix and match tacos and aren't limited to 2 or 3 of the same kind. Oh my Goodness. If you're reading this review, just go ahead and start making your way to this restaurant. I have only praise for the phenomenal experience I had here, from the mouth watering food to the impeccable service, you cannot go wrong visiting this restaurant. Food Highlights: The tacos were SO DELICIOUS. The featured proteins were well marinated and nice and tender when I bit into them. And surprisingly, 3 tacos is a great amount to fill someone up. You won't be stuffed, but you will be satisfied. The tater tots and queso combination is one made in heaven. They were remarkably good. I don't know why someone else didn't think of it sooner! The churros were phenomenal. They delivered exactly what they needed to. Sweet, flavorful, and had a very satisfying crunch with each bite. Service: Our server was phenomenal! He checked in a ton, kept our water glasses full, and made sure we were taken care of despite the busy nature of the restaurant. They were truly a pro at their job. We stopped in for a margarita fix on a Saturday afternoon- she started with the skinny margarita, whereas I had the jalapeño-cilantro. While not exceptional, both hit the spot. The food was much better- we really enjoyed the queso and guacamole, and the Korean fried cauliflower was actually outstanding, and was a highlight of our meal. The service, although friendly, was iffy at best, with our server basically disappearing towards the end of our meal. Usually a no-no, but I understand what comes with dining at a college sports bar.
