First visit. No pics tonight although it all looked very tasty and was indeed tasty. We started with two appetizers, the Avacado cilantro egg rolls and the empanadas with short rib inside. Dipping sauces for everything that added flavor. Nice start, next we had the steak quesadilla, with tots and queso with jalepeno chunks. So tasty. The ladies had the tsunami trio with the pacaific rim, Korean carnitas, Azada zing with fried yuka. All plates were empty and the flavor was awesome. Our hostess seated us quickly, and our waitress Destiny was there quickly and was attentative for the whole meal. She did a great job. A great evening for taco tuesday. We will be back. read more

Good food, but weird service experience. I made a reservation for a Friday night at 7 and upon arrival, the two hostesses seemed oddly scared to tell me that they did not have a table available (although we saw several empty ones). I said that was totally fine and we sat to wait. About 5 mins later I saw a woman who appeared to be a manager walk to the two hostesses and interrupt their whispering, asking them why all these people were waiting with so many open tables. They appeared stumped. The manager then seated us promptly. Next, our server approached and while he was not rude or anything - he was speaking so quietly we could barely hear him, offered zero recommendations when we specifically asked for them as first-timers and he honestly just seemed miserable overall (maybe he was having a bad day though). In addition to this, an older woman and man who we believe may be the owners were walking around checking on tables to see how things were. While I completely applaud and support them doing so, each of them walked up to us twice to check and see how the food and drinks were...meaning our conversation was interrupted 4 times in total by just them alone. While we appreciates them checking on their customers experiences, they seemed to forget they had both already spoken to us. Now the cocktails are tasty and the food was good. They are also reasonably priced. I had the Thai chicken empanadas and the noodle salad. To drink I had the Spicy Piña and the Strawberry Basil Margs. We also had the queso and chips to start. I would recommend any of this. While I'm sure we'll return again, the experience wasn't so incredible that we are in a rush to get back. read more

Very disappointed with my recent visit at this new location. Ordered a bowl and the chicken was pink! Not cooked throughly which is very dangerous! I knew something was off from the time we were seated. The server was in a very bad mood you could tell. I started to leave then but decided to stay. The order was placed wrong and took quite some time to replace. We also noticed the portion sizes were very different from their other locations. So a combination of all that, plus the chicken being undercooked, I was just ready to leave. We came here as a group of 6 women while on our annual "Girls' Trip". It was our best meal while we were in the area, hands-down. We ordered the guacamole, chips, and cauliflower to start. The cauliflower was DELICIOUS. Sangria flights? Sold! Our tacos and salads were DELICIOUS. Our meal was so delicious that we came back and ordered some to go the next night! The staff is so very nice and the manager was a very good sport when we were joking with him. I wish we had this place in Chicago; I would become a regular. Now I'm stuck trying to recreate my meals at Taqueria Tsunami here in kitchen. Seriously delicious. If I'm back in the area, this would be my first stop for dinner. Tip for Management: I noticed this location doesn't have an order online option for carry out. This would be helpful. Taqueria tsunami was a pretty good experience. I went there on a Saturday night with my girlfriend and it was super busy, however, we got our food out in a very timely manner. As far as food goes, we got the appetizer calamari, and it was delicious, I recommend that to anyone and everyone. I got tacos and she got a bowl, I personally think tacos are the best thing on the menu and they won't necessarily fill you up but taste wise are the best. The bowl she got looked pretty good , I tried it and the flavors are good but not great, the rice was a little under done but not bad . I think overall it's a great spot and I will be there again. I wish the portions for the taco were a little bit bigger and the rice cooked a little better in the bowl but for the price it was worth it. read more

What a great addition to the burgeoning restaurant scene in Gainesville! Good prices, too. I got a carryout order of the Tsunami Trio (two Thai Chicken tacos + black beans & rice) and a Tsunami Quatro (all of the above + a Shrimp Tempura Taco) for $27.79 before tip. While waiting for my order, I sat at a very impressive bar fully stocked with premium brands, including my favorite, Titos Vodka, and craft beers. They put some real thought into their bar. When I went on March 31, it was still relatively new, but it showed none of the shortcomings usually seen in new operations. There's a good blend of eager rookies guided by seasoned veterans. Weather permitting, you can dine outside with a view of the downtown square. Plenty of free parking is available within a few steps. Taqueria Tsunami has a very cool vibe and I shall return. read more

I cannot recommend this restaurant enough. The food was delicious and what an amazing combination of Korean flavors and little Mexican dishes. Margaritas were full of flavor. Portion sizes were ample, and the weight staff knew the menu inside and out. I wish there was a restaurant like this where I lived in Washington You have to try this. read more

This was our first time into this "new" restaurant. There are other locations around the ATL area. This Gainesville location is fairly new and part of a downtown revitalization of the Gainesville Square. We arrived just before 5:00 pm and beat what would have been a 30 min wait. The location has a decent vibe to it. It makes you feel comfortable. The seating we had was a small two topper against the wall. It was kinda cramped between tables, but not too crazy. You could for sure hear and see your neighbor. We really weren't too hungry, so we shared an appetizer of the ground beef Wonton nachos. And soooo glad we did! They were just plain stellar. We split a siracha chicken bowl. (I can't recall the name..) They were kind enough to put it in two separate plates for us, which was really super nice of them. The food portion on each plate/bowl was large. This dish was "ok". I thought it was good. My spouse didn't care for it at all. So that comes to personal preference. It didn't really blow me away with flavor, but it was certainly not bad by any means. We split a dessert of Churros and ice cream.... It was nothing short of spectacular. These were soooo good! Pricing was super fair for all we got. Not disappointed. Overall the experience was good. We will try a different entre' next time. So, arrive a tad early and enjoy. read more

Beautifully fresh food on time and with natural ingredients. What's amazing about this restaurant is the father, daughter, relationship and their ability to source great ingredients that match classic recipes and also do this in a timely fashion for a reasonable price. We started with short rib empanadas that didn't make it long enough for a picture. They were delicious. All the tacos were unique and tasty. The shrimp in the south of the border bowl were great. I didn't love that the bowl had so much rice so I would probably pick something different next time but overall the meal was delicious and the service was great. We had the sopapillas for dessert and would highly recommend to anyone considering it. We are looking forward to trying some other things on the menu next time. read more

Tried this spot for the first time last night. The environment is awesome and we really enjoyed sitting on the patio. We waited about 15-20 minutes for a table, but we're able to walk around the square until they texted us. After being seated we waited 10-15 minutes before we were greeted and our order taken. We ordered drinks, appetizers and entrees at once, in fear that it would be awhile before the waiter would be back. Our entrees came before our drinks (beer and sangria flight) and appetizer (~10 min) after ordering. I ordered the All American Bowl and it was amazing, the steak was tender and the pairing with the mushrooms, rice, onion and egg was packed with flavor. My husband had the shrimp quesadilla and he said that it was very good. The waitress suggested that we order the empanadas with Korean BBQ. The empanada itself was delicious, but the BBQ was wet and tasted like it came from the can. The sangria flight was very cute and had lots of fresh fruit, it was just VERY sweet. read more
