If I could give extra points beyond 5 stars, I absolutely would purely because of the incredibly sweet and friendly people at the counter. Their energy honestly made the whole experience even better. They run daily specials throughout the week (like $10 bowls on Tuesdays and $2 tres leches on Saturdays), which is such a win. We went on a Tuesday and both got the bowls -super generous portions, loaded with protein. The garlic shrimp was ... easily the highlight. I'm already planning to go back just for that. What really surprised me though was the hospitality. The host was so kind--he treated us to complimentary tres leches and beverages. Came here for lunch during my work break I ordered the burrito with el pastor and the torta with carnitas. If you want one of the best burritos you'll have, this is it. Wasn't too heavy or too light, rather the perfect in between! The meat was fantastic. I would immediately comeback here again for that burrito. My friends also agreed. The red sauce pairs perfectly with it. The torta was a different story. I think it was okay, it was just really soggy and the meat was okay. It was my first time having a torta like that was like that, so I was just a little confused. But if it wasn't soggy, it would've been great for a sandwich. The service was also fantastic. My first time actually visiting Taqui Taqui. I always had the food delivered. The restaurant is very clean and the owners are very friendly. I went to the restaurant because I did not understand why the Shrimp Enchiladas were not on the delivery menu. I was disappointed to learn that they took the Shrimp Enchiladas off the menu, really disappointed. I started to leave because I was craving the Shrimp Enchiladas. I decided to try one of the bowls. I added rice, black beans, garlic shrimp, and pork with onions, cilantro, lettuce, and a lot of habanero sauce. I did enjoy the bowl, but not as much as the Shrimp Enchiladas. The brothers/owners were very apologetic about taking the Shrimp Enchiladas off the menu. The gave me a free drink and a dessert. I didn't eat the dessert because I am not a fan of sweets, but I appreciated the gesture. I would probably get the bowl again if I think about. I got the Al Pastor Gourmet Taco and Chicken Adobado Gourmet Taco and a Burrito with no meat. Be sure to get green salsa with whatever you order. They also have a Spicy Habanero salsa that's flavorful and brings that level of heat. The Al Pastor had nice big pieces of pineapple and was balanced in its sweet to savory flavors and then pickled onions just sent it to the next level. The chicken also flavorful and juicy, slightly smokey. Top tier for a chicken taco. Burrito was also super flavorful. Not too big or too small, but the price for it is a bit high I think. We live nearby so we've been to Taqui Taqui pretty often and the food is always amazing no matter what we get. The prices are very reasonable and the quality is top notch for the price. In an area with an abundance of taco trucks as well as hole in the wall restaurants (seriously, there are places up the street, down the street, around the corner...), I keep coming back to here because Taqui Taqui truly shines. They used to have a $10 burrito deal which was frankly kind of unbelievably good; I don't know if they were just promoting the restaurant for word of mouth, but I certainly sent a bunch of people here LOL. Now they have daily deals for bowls, burritos, tortas, etc. all the food has pretty perfect seasoning and they are generous with the meat and guacamole. The carne asada, carnitas in green sauce, and birria are favorites of mine but honestly everything is good. They really value their customers and it shows every time. Staff is so friendly and warm whether you're dining in or getting takeout, and in a big city like LA where people barely give each other a second glance, it's pretty unusual to get that kind of treatment. It's no coincidence that we choose to come here and that I always see that they have other regulars who keep returning too. I've been wanting to try this pace for a while. It's close to home and on InKind. Called my order in for pick up instead of using uber or door dash hoping to save the restaurant some money. Unfortunately, my order had issues. I was told on the phone it would be ready in 5 min. I got there in 10 and it wasn't ready. My bowl was missing the protein and was cold. We also ordered a burrito. It was missing the melted cheese, mixed cheese and light sour cream. The burrito was also cold. The flavors were ok to good but would have tasted better warmer. I tried calling back around 8 pm to let them know but no one answered. The space is cute and we ran into Rubio's Bakery for a dessert while we waited. Lots of potential here. This place has went downhill. Taqui Taqui must be paying for reviews. I just wasted my money on the worst food ever! The nachos was laughable and inedible. Cold beans and mushy cheese for $13.95 No toppings like pico de gallo. The 8.95 tortas bread was burnt and tasted like grill residue. It lacked flavor and overall a shameful attempt at a sandwich. The taquitos arrived in a plate with foil on top. I paid extra for sauce in the side and didn't receive. Also, the promo stated spend over $25 get a free guacamole and chips, did not receive. This is the most welcoming restaurant Ive ever been to in LA. The second I walked in the owners was extremely nice. They offered me free samples without me even asking which is unheard of in a big city like LA. All 3 of the meats they let me try were amazing. They let me try the chicken steak and carnitas. All 3 tasted homemade like my grandmother would have made it. The owner showed me love from the jump and offered me a free appetizer and drink just because. I came for lunch on a recent Tuesday. I got a bowl with "surf & turf" - shrimp and steak (al pastor). Sadly the shrimp was overcooked so it was fairly tough. But the steak was very flavorful and tasty. The staff was so friendly giving us samples of many of their proteins before we placed our orders. They also gave us free bottles of water, an order of guacamole and chips, and a slice of tres leches cake. My date got a burrito that he seemed to enjoy greatly. idk why these reviews are good... all the pictures posted are from the establishment or workers for them. The pictures look nothing like the real thing. It has no flavor, no protein, and tastes absolutely like prison food. I mean genuinely I respect business especially one that aims for authentic Mexican food, but this ain't it? It tastes so bad, i ordered two burritos here and they forgot to pack one in the bag? it tasted like cold soup no joke that's what the texture was like with the sloppy cold ride and wet onions. it was disgusting. They take care of you tenderly and ask questions and give you samples and make amazing recommendations! I felt very special! I saw them treat all of their customers this way.
