I am just going to say, this is a hidden neighborhood gem. Last night was Monday and we really didn't feel like we wanted to cook. We started the search on yelp in West Adams, and we decided to give this place a try. We got the beef enchiladas, two Carne Asada tacos and the half chicken with salad The enchilada sauce was out of this world. The tacos were good and the half chicken with the salad hit the spot. While we did get our order to go, when we walked in the place was very clean and inviting. They have parking, which is hard to find these days in West Adams. And they serve beer, lol for when I want to have a quick Friday night dinner . Anyway, we will be going back for sure and probably very soon. Came to Las Rama's one night that it was raining and what better to eat?! Mexican food! Still being new to the area we found this place not to far from where we live. When we arrived we were one of the only people there which I didnt mind at all. They have indoor and outdoor seating. The menus is pretty big BUT I still chose to get NACHOS! Per usual. My quest to find the best nachos in LA is ongoing. My bf and his mom ordered enchiladas and we got two beers (Morelos) The cashier who also was the cook was super cool and cracking jokes with us. I was happy that since were the only ones there, that meant our food would be made really fresh! We got our food and just looking at my nachos I knew I was not going to be super happy. Just that the chicken was grilled and I prefer my chicken to be shredded and have that texture of chicken soup (if that makes sense) Other than that it was pretty good. They do have both indoor and outdoor seating. It was pretty warm inside so we opted to sit outside. The view of the Bob Marley street art across the street was nice to have. Well, I've been here a couple times prior over many years and was left underwhelmed each time. But, I decided to give them another chance. The burrito I just got was completely subpar and basically gross in my opinion. The carne asada meat looked boiled; there was no searing/char on it at all. Plus I had to spit out four fatty chunks of meat with bits of tendon that I could not chew. There were more beans than meat and they pit cheese in it. What the heck. For just over $12 without tax, I was expecting something halfway decent. Even the chips that came with it tasted burnt; it could have been the oil. So, what do I recommend? Better meat cuts. There should be ZERO unchewable fatty chunks, not four. The meat needs to be cooked right; it needs some searing. There needs to be more meat. Less beans, zero cheese, and posssibly add some fresh onions or cilantro. The chips need to be fresh. The hot-hot sauce could have a bit more flavor to it... it did not seem fresh to me Market Research: You guys need to go to Whole Foods, Chipotle, Paquito Mas, and the local food trucks. Purchase their Carne Asada burritos then compare them to yours. They all make great burritos. And, the cook/dude was sweeping the kitchen floor-- NOT MOPPING IT. Not a good thing to do in my opinion. Food really does taste great. As far as what I've had at least. Only problem is I was recently overcharged. It cost me $11 for a breakfast taco plate. Whaaaaaat!!!! I checked the website after and it shows $6.99. I would've rather got a breakfast burrito at $9. Breakfast tacos were good but not worth the price especially when the website shows $6.99. Solid spot, they brought chips and salsa without even asking and the waiter was very attendant. Horchata was one of the better mixes I've had in the LA area AND they added a nice little touch of cinnamon on top - something I haven't seen before here. The burrito ranchero was pretty good. I loved the smothered sauce. It was very large, I had over half of it that I boxed up (though I'm not the biggest person). Pro tip; use an air fryer to reheat at 400F. Made a tasty dinner the next day. Atmosphere was great, they had the game on and nice authentic Mexican music. As the name would suggest, there are many frogs that decorate the place. Just moved into the neighborhood and was looking for a quick breakfast spot. My boyfriend and I both got breakfast burritos: mine with veggies, chorizo, eggs, rice and beans, and his with no veggies, chorizo, bacon, eggs, rice and beans. Both burritos were absolutely delicious! If you like peppers & onions I definitely recommend getting the veggies. The burritos were not overloaded with eggs, which I liked. And the tortilla was grilled and crispy. However, I wasn't super impressed with the salsas. The pico de gallo had nice flavor and a little kick, but the others were just okay. The red one he pointed out as "super hot" actually had no heat whatsoever and a bit of a strange taste. Service was great, friendly and quick. I think we'll definitely be back. read more

Las Ranas is a small innocuous restaurant located in the West Adams district. There is convenient street, off-street and private lot parking. They have both indoor and outdoor seating. Inside room capacity is approximately 40 persons. They have televisions inside playing sports most of the time. The times I've been there (with my co-workers for lunch), it has been rather quiet and service has always been fast, friendly and efficient. The owner is often one of the servers and he has always been very sweet. He is friendly and easy to deal with, if ever we have had or wanted any substitutions or special request he has been more than willing to oblige. They offer traditional Mexican breakfast, lunch and diner plates. Servings are plentiful and always presented nicely; after all we also eat with our eyes. I've had their tacos, enchiladas and chilaquiles before. The food is good, some dishes better than others. The carne asada tacos (soft) were good, garnished with cilantro, onions and hot sauce; granted I've had better ones from other restaurants and street vendors but still good enough to satisfy a deep seeded craving for tacos. The enchiladas (cheese), again a good dish, they came topped with cheese, rice and beans. I think my enchiladas are better, however, when I can't cook my own or don't feel like cooking; Las Ranas is a good alternative. As for the chilaquiles, again a good dish but I much prefer chilaquiles from Liliana's Tamales. They weren't as crunchy as I'd like them to be. The red sauce was nice but Liliana's sauce is just the best. Though the food quality is slightly above average, I rate them 4 stars for the service, convenience and menu flexibility. This will continue to be a frequent lunch stop with my office buddies. read more

I've been a loyal customer to this restaurant for 3 years. I never had any problems until the #BLACKLIVESMATTER movement the owner has been disrespecting my orders. My burritos had undercooked or old meat, old brown lettuce, stale dry rice, crunchy or watery beans and the tortilla have been stiff with molded spots. The hamburgers have had undercooked or cold meat, old tomatoes, brown lettuce, old onions, stale bread with watery ketchup that falls from it. The Quesadilla had a half molded tortilla, barely any cheese with some molded with brown tomato and watery/old beans as if it was mixed together. The french fries taste as if the fryer is not hot with old oil. Got my 4 yr old sick. If the owner is gonna treat it's African American/ white (I am black and my husband is white) customers like this, then he doesn't deserve support from our diverse community if we are treated like this. read more

OK I tried this Mexican food place out because it was in my area. I ordered a steak combination burrito for myself everything on it my daughter got carne Asada plate with beans and rice. I love spicy food so they give you salsa 4 different types one is pico de gallo one is a green guacamole what is a Verde green and one is like a chipotle mole type of sauce. The food was tasty however I'm a person who wants to eat salsa at every bite of my burrito which I did I put the pico de gallo and the mole spicy red sauce on every bite. 2 min after I left the restaurant not two minutes after I got in the car we had to pull over so I can throw up it was the worst feeling in the world I started getting chills I got hot and all the burrito came right back up. I called and let the lady know the waitress that took my order what had happened she told me she would give the telephone number to the owner and he will be in in the morning I waited I guess two days he never called so that's why I'm putting this message up there if you eat here do not eat the salsa either they didn't clean the knives or whatever they cut it on or they left it out too long the food is ok no one else got sick but me I'm The ONLY one who ate the salsa .,so don't kill yourself with the salsa take care read more
