Oh my goodness, I've been searching and searching for a nail salon like Tara's. After my last salon became unreliable for scheduling, I began the search for a new place. I had a bit of trouble finding the salon at first; it's tucked away along the side. Parking has been reasonable, with only a minute's walk from the lot to the front door. This place is quiet, exceedingly clean, and has an absolute wealth of products available. I have never seen a salon with so many options, especially regarding dipping powders. My eyebrows have never looked better, and I receive compliments on my nails constantly. 10/10 recommend this salon! It's best to make a reservation; replies are always timely and comprehensive. Great ladies, quiet, clean, and simply a high class experience. I always leave with a smile on my face. They've also introduced me to a fantastic Korean drama, so I've expanded my cultural knowledge as well! What a win! read more

I had booked an appointment requesting for a specific technician, Vary as one of my friends highly recommended her. I wanted after 5pm but was told that she is not available after 4pm. So, I moved a couple of meetings and finalized 3pm. They send you a notification that any cancellation should be atleast 3hrs before I go to at 2:45pm and then was told Vary is not there as she called in sick. I felt that they should've atleast told me earlier. As another technician was doing my nails, I realized the person who told me that Vary was out for the day was in-fact Vary herself. I would have given 4 stars, as the other technician did a good job. But since the review is for Tara Nails, felt it was very unprofessional of the owner/Vary Bou, taking off the stars. read more

Today, what was supposed to be a relaxing mother/daughter bonding experience turned into one of the worst customer experiences for my poor 70-year-old mother. Her nail tech (she did not even have the courtesy to share her name) provided terrible service. She was rough and aggressive on my mother's feet, rude, and unwilling to receive real-time customer feedback. On many occasions, my mother tried to voice that the treatment was too rough, and the worker ignored her. Instead, she spent her time neglecting her requests. It got so bad that I stepped in and requested that my technician help my mom instead. I also pulled in the manager, but she did nothing to resolve the issue. Thankfully, Bee, who was doing my pedicure, agreed to stop working on mine and stepped in to complete my elderly mother's pedicure. Patient and gentle, she treated my mom very well. Her excellent service may have saved the situation. Unfortunately, however, her co-worker continued to disturb the ambiance by talking brashly across the room, standing over a customer for minutes while the manager was finishing her manicure, and at some point, claiming someone had stolen from her at another nail salon. Her behavior was unprofessional and inappropriate. As a result of her actions, I left the salon with no pedicure, and what should have been a special treat, relaxing self-care, for my mother and I turned out to be a stressful and unpleasant experience. I will most definitely never return to Tara Nails in Gaithersburg, MD ever again. read more

Tara Nails is under new management this year! I went in for dip powder nails and got exactly what I wanted. They had a wide variety of colors to choose from. Vary did my nails for me and they came out looking beautiful! It's been two weeks since I've gotten them done and my nails are as perfect as the first day. I also got my eyebrows and underarms waxed, it was very quick and easy! Inside was very clean and masks were worn the entire time. There's a shield at the table as well with space to put your hands underneath. Very easy place to find and parking is right around the corner. I went in to get a gel manicure done when I happened to be nearby and needed my nails done quick. The place is extremely clean and has a warm feeling when you step inside. The people were very nice and accommodating to my needs, since I like a very specific look. All in all, I was very happy with the results and am glad I found this place, because I will be going to it more often! read more

This salon does NOT even deserve one star if you ask me! They were very slow although I told them when I made my appointment and walked in at 3 I need to be out by 430 latest. If they couldn't do an acrylic fill and a pedicure (which were both awful) just say that cannot be done. I would have been satisfied with getting only one service and coming back for the second. They happened to do both (I'm sure because they'd make more money) and weren't done until 445. I left with thick wet nail polish and by the end of the day it was destroyed. I paid my 45$ with no qualms. I called them the next morning to let them know, they were understanding because they felt rushed (with an hour and a half to do the service to an at least a DECENT standard). The lady I spoke with informed me It was okay for me to have the gel polish put on, as it dries before you've left the store. I go in for my appointment only to sit down have her take off my polish and refuse to paint them without me paying the extra cost of the gel polish. I left very upset to say the least. I hope this is helpful to the people that live in or around the Kentlands. This place is VERY OVER PRICED (the ONE $ on the Yelp their account is totally inaccurate). I will now always stay with my people over at Phoenix nail salon in Gaithersburg. No new places for me! Phoenix is AWESOME!!! And they have such great customer service and they are reasonably priced as well with all the colors you could ask for. I sure hope this has helped. They won't last long there so why waste your time and A LOT of money just for convenience!?!?! read more

Let me start off by saying that the salon was very clean, but I think that's only because they don't have any customers. The owner was the only one there when I went in a few days ago for a gel manicure. I usually get my nails done somewhere else but I had a coupon and they were much closer to my home. Bad mistake. I asked for my nails to be square with just slightly rounded edges and in my opinion that's not what I got. I didn't say anything to her when I saw she didn't do them like I wanted because they were too short to change the shape so unfortunately I'll have to live with it. She didn't polish the front edges of my nails so within 24 hours they were already chipping. She did a horrible job with the polish application around my cuticles. And you can see through the polish. Was in the area for work and desperately needed a pedicure. Tara Nails got great reviews so I figured I'd stop by. So glad I did! What a fabulous salon!!! The environment was instantly relaxing quiet and very clean. I was greeted warmly by Tam and asked to wait while she finished with her other client. The polish is all OPI or Essie and nicely organized by color so it's easy to find what you like and the tranquil atmosphere made the wait enjoyable. Tammy did an AMAZING job on my toes and gave one of the best massages I've had. I would have expected to pay an arm and a leg at a place like this but the $32 was in my opinion a total bargain. I highly recommend this salon and can't wait to visit next time my toes are in need! read more

I made an appointment ahead of the time and usually I don't. I can walk in most of the nail salon without waiting more than 10 mins but I waited 30 mins there. The ladies was busy with only two customer and I don't see any TV/Wifi there. The service was disappointed on my pedicure, no basic massage and they apply minimal scrub on your leg. This place was the worst EVER. The service was super slow, and not only that but the way they made it look like they were "taking their time" to produce an immaculate product was actually them just not knowing what they were doing. I left completely dissatisfied but paid anyway. They gave me the slip to sign and I left. The following day, they called me and told me my credit card did not process and I needed to come back to pay. I told them that is not my fault, when I don't feel like I should have had to pay in the first place for awful service! The acrylics were THICK and uneven with sloppy polish application. So I told them I am not coming out of my way to come back when the product they gave me was less than acceptable. A credit card malfunction at any other place I would have attended to immediately.
