Found this place as it was close to my house. I brought pants to adjust the hem and shorten them. He did a great job with the first pair so I continued to use Eddie for little work here and there. He helped me the most when I bought a gown I was going to where to the wedding. I loved the design but it was too big for me. OK, So, this place is so legit. He works wonders! There was this pair of pants that I loved, and I wanted to take them on vacation! They were a little to short and a little to loose. As a guy, I usually don't get things tailored but I needed these to be more form-fitting. I found this place online and said to myself, the cost of the pants plus what it cost to get them tailored would be worth it. I didn't have time to try them on when I picked them up, but when I finally got to try them on, they were perfect. I've been getting my pants and jeans hemmed from Eddie for awhile now. I come in with all kinds of material pants (denim, cotton, polyester, etc.) and in return I get pants that fit me. Love this guy. I've gone here periodically and I really appreciate the tailor. He takes great pride in workmanship and his craft. I think he said he was trained at Nordstrom for many years. But, you can tell he cares about his work, not just the alterations meaning the lengths, etc., but "how" it's done (the correct stitching, etc). He's quick, but note that it's a one-person shop and he seems quite busy. In the past, he was accommodating for urgent requests (son's prom) but I don't think you can count on it given his demands. I needed the sleeves shortened and the buttons moved on a blazer. The work was of poor quality (see photos). When I asked about the remaining stitches the guy said "no one sees them" since they are on the under side. Cost me $30 and my brand new jacket is pretty much ruined. read more

I have been coming to Taraval Tailors for a while now. Eddie does a great job! I usually come here to get my pants hemmed since I am in between sizes and can never find pants that fit me perfectly! He does a great job with the hemming. And I never had a problem with him. I thought since Eddie did a great job on some hemming he would be good with a suit. but as other reviewers has stated he is VERY disorganized. A month ago I brought a brand new suit to him to alter. I paid A LOT of money to get it altered but was ok with it. When I came to pick up my suit he told me he LOST my suit pants. BRAND NEW. The suit was for my best friends wedding. He said he will look for them and call me back. A full week goes by and its the day of my friends wedding. Since I live pretty close to Taraval Tailors I just went in and asked if he found them. He didn't. I figured I can just use another pair of slacks but was pretty bummed he lost my pants. 2 hours that same day I get a call that they found my paints. So clearly he didn't really look that hard. Probably wont be coming around with a suit but ill stick to getting my pants hemmed here. read more

I had a dress shortened here. While he was pinning it I said it was too long and please make it shorter, I do not want it to touch the floor. I got it home and the hem is uneven-- it is longer in the front than in the back, it touches the floor and I'm walking all over it. This was $20! Now I have to pay someone else to re-shorten it. I'm very disappointed, because they were very nice and I drove waaaay out of my neighborhood for their good reviews. Money and time wasted! They were very friendly and speedy, though. read more

Very disorganized and unprofessional. I came in during business hours, but was told, "she'll be back in 20 mins." Came back and another man said he'd be able to help me. Had him fix a couple of seams and fit me for my shirt to be altered. Returned to pick up my stuff, but he said the shirt needed to be fitted again. Uh, why? He said he had taken some pins out and couldn't remember where they went. Ok... That was a huge inconvenience for me because I was only in SF for a few weeks and I was actually leaving the next day. Thankfully, my sister agreed to come back another day to pick up the shirt for me. I asked for my claim ticket back to give to her, but he couldn't find it, even though I had handed it to him not two minutes prior. Unfortunately, I won't be able to wear that shirt until my next trip back, which won't be for another 6+ months. Also, my other sister had dropped off her bridesmaid dress for altering. I asked the man if I could pick up her dress along with my clothes. He looked, but after several minutes said that he only had one bridesmaid dress and it belonged to another girl. My sister came in herself and they were able to locate it eventually. However, there was another customer also looking for their clothes, which the man couldn't find. Eddie has been my go to tailor for a while now. Diesel Jeans, Hugo Boss suits, (ok, i have a limited wardrobe, but I know what works for me) he's been consistently great. I've taken dozens of pieces to Eddie, and i've been clear and reasonable about my requests. And its been all good. I am about to take 4 more suits to him. I check the hours on yelp, and I saw the negative reviews. First, There are limits as to what ANY tailor can do. Fabric and thread cannot extend beyond the constraints of the laws pf physics. I would imagine that they have upwards of 20-40 clients daily. As of 2/16/15, I read all the negative reviews on yelp (1-2*) They seem to be about: 1) Taking a bridesmaids dress in 3-4 sizes, complaint: dress not snug enough ((good luck with that, groomsmen) 2) having a dress shortened, complaint: price ($20), and not short enough (Are they ever, really?) 3) needed to have dress sleeves shortened on NYE, unclear about holiday hours (what, he wasn't open till 9pm on NYE??) 4) original hem jeans, $15 cost and wrong color thread (Somewhere, I hear birds chirping) 5) skirt shortening, $25 (price) 5 one to two star reviews. These reviews are in my opinion based on unreasonable requests, and I don't know if they would EVER be satisfied. For eddy and his staff to earn five stars, they would have to bring in a dress 3-4 sizes, be open on NYE, and work at less than 10 bucks an hour. If 15-25 bucks is too much for your alterations, you're living in the wrong city. read more
