I had to do some searching to find a place capable of doing a zipper repair, and when I initially described the job to Laurie and shared photos, she was open about the possibility that the repair might not be possible and that the situation would be clear only once they started work with the zipper. Laurie did a great job altering my dress. It was a sleelevess dress and the dress was a bit long and sat a bit low so I needed the sleeves folded inwards to shorten the height and pull the dress up. Laurie helped me with just that. I dropped the dress off with a one day warning and she was really accommodating. It was slightly pricy being $35 but the alteration was exactly what I wanted. I was able to try it on before and after as well to explain the request and confirm it was what I was looking for. Great experience & quality work! I booked an appointment via Yelp. I brought in a thrifted formal dress that needed several adjustments (broken zipper, loose strap, shorten hem, cinch neckline) and Laurie recommended specific alterations for each. I found Laurie's Tailoring through Yelp and she's true to her Yelp 5-Star rating. She used to have a storefront in the sunset but due to high rent she had to let it go. Laurie was amazing! I asked her to fix a pant hem that was originally done by someone else, hem a lined dress for a wedding and pants, patch a pair of jeans and fix a zipper on another pair. Her work was so high quality on all services (it was very obvious to me which pant hem she did vs. the original one that had come undone). I also very much appreciated that she was honest with me; I originally asked her to take out a pair of pants, but she let me know it probably wasn't worth the cost for how little she would be able to based on the extra fabric available. This was my first time getting a bridesmaids dress altered separately from the store I bought it from and Laurie did a great job walking me through it and giving feedback on what I did and did not need. I thought I might need the straps shortened and she explained it probably wasn't worth it since it was so close already. She hemmed the double layered bottom of dress and the result looks amazing. The price was in line with (actually maybe cheaper) what I paid at David's Bridal for hemming on another dress. Plus her turnaround time was only a week and much faster than the alterations the other bridesmaids got! Laurie's work area is a super cute converted foyer in a house. The area is residential and it's very easy to find street parking. Masks were always on for both of us and it felt very safe. She was fast to respond on Yelp, and we switched over to text quickly, scheduling a next-day appointment. At the appointment, I was a bit slow to change and make decisions, but I felt Laurie was very thorough in asking and confirming what I wanted and patient with my decision-making. I needed a wedding guest dress with 4 layers hemmed in the next month. I had misremembered and told her 2 layers in my original text, but she adjusted on the spot, and it was still a very reasonable price.
