This is a small mom and pop's restaurant located on Mentor Ave, close to the comedy club and down the street from the Social Security office. There is street parking (metered) and depending on when you go, it can be plenty of parking. Now that I got all the boring stuff out the way... Omgggggggg I love this place! It was my first time there and it was pretty obvious. I think the manager or owner was working at a table and even offered to give me her space. (I had a tote with me). Like what? How nice! But I chose a table in the middle. It's a small space so not a lot of room. They do offer patio seating but it was feeling like Hades in Pasadena so I opted to eat inside. It very much feels like you're eating in someone's kitchen and I think that was the feel. I got the antipasto salad. OMG. It's extremely generous with everything on it (see pics) and though it would be enough for two people, you're not going to want to share. They gave me little bread crackers and bruschetta to start. Unfortunately, this place was mid. We got multiple things to share - Split Pea Soup, Bacon Wrapped Shrimp, Jojo's Spicy Pasta, Philly Cheesesteak and Meatballs. We have been dying to come back here for the past 4 years. Tardino Brothers is located in Pasadena, and we aren't often in the neighborhood. We were able to stop in for lunch today. Our server, Kevin, took great care of us, and that added to our meal of course. We decided to split two of the weekly specials. A 12-in pizza with one slice each of mushrooms, peppers, sausage and pepperoni. An amazingly delicious pizza, the other dish we ordered was brisket of beef served over pasta, with parmesan and garlic toast. I've never heard of brisket over pasta, but you got to try this one. The brisket was done to perfection, and the sauce gravy was absolutely delicious accompanied by an excellent pasta and superb garlic toast. Had a quick dinner with a friend here in Pasadena on a Friday night. We ordered two pasta dishes, and it came with a complimentary appetizer.As much as I would love to give this place five stars, unfortunately, I found a piece of white hair in my appetizer sauce, which made the rest of the meal a bit harder to enjoy. The spicy pasta I ordered was still good overall (8/10). The cheesy bread it came with was great, and I liked how rich and thick the cream sauce was with the seasoning well incorporated. Service-wise, the cashiers were a bit rushy, likely because it was close to closing time. The ambience inside was nice and cozy, and there was also outdoor seating available. If you are a Glutard, like me, this place is a GEM. They ask when you arrive if you have any food sensitivities, which is so nice, to not have to explain. And OMG. The GF Chicken Parmesan and GF Cannoli ~ I wanna marry um. The Eggplant too. They even give you complimentary GF bruschetta as soon as you sit down, and they have GF croutons for their delicious Caesar salad. I am told all of the "normal" Italian food (from the Borchetta to the Cannoli) is excellent as well. The prices are reasonable and the portions are very generous. I have missed Italian food SO MUCH. One of the brothers is also Gluten intolerant, which explains a lot. He makes all of the MANY GF deserts himself, and you can feel the love. My kid insisted I write this 5-star review. Since he was diagnosed with celiac disease a few months ago, eating out has felt like a bit of a culinary obstacle course. So when we found Tardino Brothers and their gluten-free options, we were hopeful and they exceeded expectations. One of the first questions we were asked was whether anyone in our party was gluten free or had allergies. As a parent of a kid with celiac, that meant a lot. They even brought out bruschetta for the table and a separate gluten-free version just for my son -- no awkward asking. The seasonal artichoke with aioli was amazing, and my husband (a self-proclaimed wedge connoisseur) loved their wedge salad. The gluten-free minestrone was delicious, the fettuccine Alfredo and spaghetti with meatballs were great, and my son gave the gluten-free lasagna a big thumbs up (though the bread got a polite "meh"). It's a little pricey, but since the diagnosis it's been hard finding places where we can relax and enjoy a meal without playing ingredient detective. I tried this spot for the first time and I'm already planning my next visit it was so good. I brought my dog with me to sit in the outdoor space and the staff was very friendly. They even offered to bring a bowl of water for my pup. They brought some bruschetta type bread as well waited for the pizza. The tomatoe topping was so flavorful and had a bit of a sweetness to it. I loved the mixture of herbs and spices used in it. The pizza was amazing. The crust was not too thick and not too thin and it had the perfect crunch with each bite. Can't go wrong with Tardino Bros. Fresh and tasty sandwiches are my favorite. I remember my first sandwich at the previous location in Azusa, that's right from A to Z in the USA. A bit of a surprise find near old town Pasadena. This Italian deli features large portions for reasonable prices. Most of the seating seems to be outdoors on the patio where you first enter from the gate. Fortunately the weather cooperated with us on a nice afternoon. Menu was extensive for what I expected. I ordered the vegetarian lasagna which was huge. However, the inside ricotta was cold so it may have been premade and then reheated. Once heated a second time through, the food was fine. So was the minestrone soup,and strawberry gelato that was complimentary after the temperature issue. The bruschetta appetizer had more parmesan than with other restaurants and I liked that. Our waitress was really nice but slow. She operated in a rather serial manner with her customers before going inside rather than checking on all of her tables.
