Retreat, retreat, this is the worst target in the world. 1.) new parking structure is terrible, a total different parking lot which require you to walk up and down for about 10 minutes. That's 10 minutes out of your parking validation and parking here ain't cheap. 2.) way higher price here compare to other targets. It's probably because it's at heart of DTLA but most of the stuff runs out here. 3.) this place is messy. It's like someone said: "hey, I have a great idea, let's build a Target where SHOPPING CARTS CAN'T LEAVE THE STORE so people won't spend lots of money buying a bunch of things that they didn't even come here for to begin with." So yes, you really can't bring the cart to your car at this Target. They offer "carry out" requests though (like you're an 80 y/o that needs help with their groceries) if you don't mind waiting...and waiting. I can tolerate driving down like 4 levels to get a spot in the parking structure here and paying $1 after validation, but if I can't push my cart (full of stuff I don't actually need) to my car, it kinda defeats the entire purpose of driving here. Might as well just walk and carry my bags .9 miles home or whatever it is. Find another Target, this one has awful setup and service. Only one check out that is not self checkout open. EVERYTHING is locked up! It was legitimately impossible to shop because so much is locked behind glass, not all employees have keys to open, and heaven forbid you take a moment to compare items because the employee has to sit and watch you while others are needing them to open other locked up items. And I'm talking about things like vitamins and razors. It's absolutely ridiculous. I literally hate this target. It's smaller than usual and the parking garage is massive and detached. You have to wander around and it takes about 10 mins to get there with at least 2 elevators and 1 escalator. When you leave you need to get parking validated and sometimes it can take so long to walk back and then wait in the line to get out that you still need to pay a few bucks. This is my first "City Target" store I have been to. It is definitely smaller than a regular Target store with less selection. It is very crowded with long lines but it tends to move fast. I have gone to this Target during the holiday season and during a regular week and there is no difference in the store traffic. It always to be tons of people here. The store validates for parking but you still end up paying a reduced rate of $2.50 which I think should be free. read more

I'm kinda crushing on the 7th and Fig complex. It's so handy to have things like Target so close by. This Target is a "City Target," which means it isn't as big as most stores. But it still manages to carry everything you'd need--from produce to greeting cards to socks to furniture. It's always pretty crowded, but the lines move pretty quickly and they have a self check out option. A con is that since they are located in the bowels of the building, there is no cell reception, which is a bit of a bummer if you need to call home and ask if you need something. And because it's Target, you come in thinking you are going to get one thing and leave groaning under the heavy bags full of stuff you realized you needed. They validate parking in the lot behind the building, so bring your ticket with you. And when you finish your shopping make sure to check out the bottom floor of the complex which has a wide selection of food, drink, gelato, and even cupcakes. read more

This is not a good Target store whatsoever. The location/surrounding area is decent, the fig at 7th mall is pretty nice and somewhat upscale, but the Target doesn't match. Parking is good and bad...the only good part is that there is ample parking, but the bad parts include the weird fact that if you are shopping you have to go down to the first 3 levels but theres no indication for the parking staff to know who is parking for what . . . then they charge you for every hour, no "first hour free" and pretty bad validation . . speaking of validation, I asked 4 different employees how to validate my parking ticket. they all told me "go to aisle 3 or 7". . . so I go to aisle 3 figuring it's at the customer care and just jumped to the front to just get the ticket punched . . . the lady points down to the small machine to put the card in . . . really? none of the other employees could have said "there is a machine in front of aisle 3" ? the store itself seems big but it's so small. they don't carry half the products other Targets carry i'll stick to the Target on La Brea read more

You know what's really sad, its the fact that the staff doesn't care. You've got people walking around mask free. Staff members not wearing their masks on right, and no manager involvement. CityTarget is like that dude I've been on-again-off-again dating for years. I don't really like him much, but we've already had sex and stuff so I figure every once in a while, I'll visit. Here's the thing - it's still Target. So I can guarantee a certain level of satisfaction with my visit (kinda like the dude). They carry the vitamins I like, the Target brand foods I sometimes impulse buy, a shitton of hair products, and most of my other shopping-at-a-giant-corporate-soul-sucking-super-store-that-puts-small-businesses-out-of-business needs. But the other things force me to keep from locking anything serious down with CityTarget are the things that drive me absolutely crazy. (Kinda like when dude is late when we go out or goes MIA for a few weeks) Issue 1 - The Parking. What freaking moron decided to put the entrance to the parking on a one way street that is the exact same lane as the 110 N freeway entrance? Not only is going between 4 and 8 a nightmare, leaving and trying to get back downtown is even worse. Not to mention the fact that they try to get people to park on the upper levels so you have to take an elevator down to the walkway then an escalator up to the store. Super frustrating. Issue 2 - It's too small. And in this case (as with others) size matters. Issue 3 - The staff is about as friendly as my dude's mom - meaning not friendly at all. The verdict? Yeah, I'll keep going. It's familiar, it's semi-dependable, there are no surprises. But I'll be looking out for something better to come along because I'm not really with it. read more

I couldn't find my car in the confusing parking structure, and by the time i got to the loading area to pick up my cart full of purchases, they had already left. There's no way to signal to them, so i had to call the main target number, or walk all the way back to the Target entrance to get my purchases. God forbid you buy a case of water, you have to walk it up 2 flights of stairs, 3 pathways, just to the structure. It takes about 10 minutes just to walk back to your car! Also If it's your first time, it'll take you about 15 minutes to even find the store entrance. It's awesome considering you pay every 10 minutes for parking!! This is my local Target and easy to get to, especially when I'm hanging out in Downtown LA. Most of what I need can be found at City Target. They price match and they can price match Amazon.com. Cell signal is bad in the store, but they have free wifi. I usually use my phone to price match. Further savings of 5% if you have a Target Card. They have a grocery section and I'm able to get some of my common items there. Target has some items that grocery stores carry, but it's a bit cheaper, and, again, City Target doesn't carry everything the regular Target does. If you're a fan of GT's Kombucha, they're about as much as Von's and even cheaper if you have a Target Card; however they just have a small selection. I sometimes go to check out what's on sale. City Target is part of the 7th & Fig shopping destination and sometimes I grab a bite at the Food Court. It's a cool spot in Downtown. read more

Whoa, what's open this early but apparently, the new Target City in downtown is open at 7:00. Yes, seven in the morning and closes at 9:00 pm. Weird hours for a Target since most other ones open at 8:30 am and close at 10:30 or 11. Yes, I love my Target and to my untrained eye, seems to carry everything the suburbia Targets carry too. Except since this was the first day, the floor was squeaky clean, all the salespeople were super friendly and helpful and even the pharmacist who looked like a cross between Mindy Kaling and Phoebe Cates came out to help me with my ticket validation. And here is where my smile turned upside down. It cost me $7.00 to park there! Wtf? I was only inside for 45 minutes and when I went back to ask the Target security about the validation, they blamed the parking lot. Ugh. Fortunately, the security outside saw the fee on the machine and told me that I had to park on the first, second or third floor. Ahh...the first, second or third floor. I wish there was a sign that told me that. Kinda like how I preceded my review with that forewarning. But I'll chalk it up to grand opening jitters During the grand opening, there were people at the entrances directing Target traffic. I work Downtown and that is how it will remain. I refuse to live or shop in Downtown. Though the ZARA opening here at 5th & Fig might make me a hypocrite. This Target does not give validation, you still end up having to pay a buck or two for parking, which is a given since you are in Downtown but for whatever you can find here, I am sure you can find at another Target so this location is really only for those who can afford to even live Downtown because parking here is a B. This target is literally hit or miss. My visit here today (9/8/18) I went for a few items (and as per usual, wound up with a whole basket full of stuff). Because they do not allow you to take the carts out, and because I had so much stuff to carry, I opted for their "carry out" service. With this service, they hail a person to come to the front and carry your items out to the garage. The issue: you end up waiting upwards of 15-20 minutes for anyone to show up to help, notwithstanding the 1,000 employees seen hanging out around the entrance people watching. So, I ended up waiting for an unreasonable amount of time for a carry out bc I had too much stuff and "no one was available." Eventually, I flagged down Ashley. He was super duper sweet and responsive. He helped me immediately, without so much as a freaking blink ! He even waited by my car with my goods while I went to pay for parking at the pay station. Unbelievable customer service. More than I can say for the super sassy teen boy that checked me out. But for Ashley, I'd circulate a petition online to compel Yelp to allow negative stars. Swear. Moral of the story: don't come here unless you're full of patience, only buying a few items, and don't mind sassy cashiers. read more

My colleagues and I have been eagerly awaiting this City Target's grand opening. Woohoo!!! Yes, I went there twice today. And? Note -- this Target is BELOW STREET LEVEL in the open air mall (Figat7th) between the two office towers at 7th & Figueroa. This is a full service Target, complete with groceries, home goods, clothing and pet supplies. It also has a Starbucks, with their lunch boxes also located in the grocery section. I'm a fan already!!! Parking is in the structure with entrances on 7th and 8th street just west of Figueroa. I believe parking is on the first three levels of the structure and that it is validated for the first hour, then something like $1/hour thereafter. read more
