While initially would have given this place four stars I had and issue today where I was in need of a quick replacement after losing one and was near the store. After calling to explain Was told that they don't sell single use lenses even though it was an emergency and wanted me to pay for a years worth even after explaining I had already ordered some and they hadn't been delivered yet. This was never an issue at the last target optical used while living near the west loop location. Moving forward I'll take my business back to west loop. read more

Let me say first of all, that the staff that completed the checkout and helped me pick frames were GREAT people. They did a very nice job. Dr. Sheade is awful. Not personable, he rushed through the whole exam and appointment, and didn't explain ANYTHING. Never asked about my symptoms. Interrupted me when I tried to tell him I saw halos around lights and never touched on the subject again. I am shocked reading some of the other reviews here...they must be fabricated because he was NOTHING like anything I've read here. Dr. Tanya Le is a fantastic Doctor! Very helpful unlike other eye doctors I have been going to in the past that just take your money and run she actually sets a plan up for you if you have contacts. I have astigmatism in both eyes (unfortunately) so my contacts costs a arm and a leg but she set a plan that helped vision wise and my pockets so thanks doc!! read more

I also had gone to boutique eye doctors in the past (satisfactory service), but recently decided to try Target Optical. Dr. Le was fanstastic!! I have very slight astigmatism on my left eye, and have alreays been on the cusp on whether to switch to the torque lens or stay with a regular one. I had tried the torque lens in the past, but always thought it was uncomfortable and reverted back to a regular lens (even though that meant my eye sight wasn't perfect). Upon hearing this, Dr Le took took time to observe me in the torque lens and was able to alter the Rx in order to make sure it was perfect fit! I feel like a whole new person!! read more

One doesn't expect too much from a chain store optical place except maybe to save a bit of money, but I recently was examined by Dr. Sheade, and he said one of my eyes had changed and gotten .5 worse on my contacts prescription. I thought that was odd since my eyes have been stable on the current Rx for maybe 8 years, and I wasn't noticing any problems seeing from that eye, but he's the doc, he's got the expensive measuring machines, so I accepted his word on it. So though you can't expect much from a chain optical store, you might expect that the optician/optometrist can do a basic Rx for contacts. After 3 weeks of feeling like one of my contacts was always dry or blurry for some reason, I ordered the old Rx for that eye elsewhere, and voila, I could see fine again. So I guess it's all what matters to you. If seeing in focus is important, maybe you'd rather go somewhere else. Reading some of the other reviews before writing mine, I was astonished. Half of them must have been written by shills for Target. This doctor was businesslike, not friendly, service was fine, not more than you'd expect. I got about zero help from the other staff trying to choose new frames for glasses ("there's the frames" was about it), but again, what do you expect?). The rave reviewers here must have gone on a better day than I did! read more

I have to admit I was a bit uncomfortable going for an eye exam at a Target, but after reading the reviews of Dr. Sheade on Yelp decided to give it a shot. I was more then pleased with the experience. The two girls working in the optical office were greeted me with smiles, were polite, helpful, and very friendly. Dr. Sheade is a "great" guy.......He was very maticulous with the exam process. He was more the happy to answer my questions and I had quite a few. After diagnosing my condition he explained it me very well, cause and how to treat it..presently and in the future. He has a very pleasant bedside manner and extremely professional. I felt very comfortable with him and he is straight forward type of guy. At the end of my visit the girls working the front area did not pressure me at all to buy frames from them. They left the choice up to me and told me I was always welcome back if i changed my mind. I think that is a great approach, I am not a fan of aggressive, pushy sales people. None of that happens here at the Target Optical. As for Dr. Sheade, I would recommend him any one of my friends...Like a I said not only a good guy but a great doctor. read more

She is personable, and Dr. Le examined my eyes more completely and gave me more information about the things I should specifically watch out for in the future for my age etc. Dr. Le really listened to me and let me know all my options. She took time to explain to me what was going on with my eyes and my contacts (crazy allergies!) and gave me several options for changing my contact use, taking into consideration my insurance and budget. If I could leave a negative rating I would. I don't think I've ever encountered such an unproffesional, uncaring, rude staff. The doctor I saw had a really hard time figuring out my prescription. At some point even told me I shouldnt change doctors so often. I had the same doctor for years but needed contacts quick so I made the terrible mistake of going there.....a mistake that would haunt me forever! Not only would they not provide trials (unless I buy either a year supply or any quantity of supplies). So, the year supplies arrived within 48 hours, which was great! However, I wanted the trials first to make sure that was the right brand/prescription for me. Since, I wouldnt get a refund if I open the box. So, I waited and waited and waited. I called multiples times, then it turned out they never ordered the trials, fine...an overlook, it happens. They ordered them again, and again I waited and waited ...NOTHING, again I called to get an update and I was assured I would be called as soon they got them.... I gave them a week and called again, and it turns out they had them for week! The staff was twrrible at following up, their communication is awful and they are just plain rude. Please be ware, do not make my same mistake! read more

I hate to be that person who continually writes negative reviews but it has just been one unpleasant experience after another. The last thing I wanted to do was to come back here but the trial contacts I received made my vision blurry so I figured the prescription I was given was incorrect. When trying to explain exactly what was wrong, I told the doctor "My vision is kind of blurry, for example I can't really read your computer screen." He replied saying "You shouldn't be able to read my screen, I can't even read it." I hate it when doctors refuse to listen to their patients. I know when something is wrong so I insisted my prescription wasn't right. Upon inspecting my eyes, he said somewhat patronizingly, "it would help if you didn't switch your contacts and wear them in the wrong eyes..." I was pretty sure I didn't switch them and pulled out the trial box I had received and brought with me. Turns out an employee mislabeled the box and that was the reason why I had switched contacts, resulting in my blurry vision. After I switched them and the contacts were in the correct eyes, things were much clearer and I could read his computer screen, just like I knew I should have been able to. Extremely frustrated that I drove all the way to this location again just because of a simple mistake on their end, only to be patronized for something that wasn't my fault. Huge waste of my time and I hope this is the last time I have to be back here. read more

Awesome experience! The office is a little tucked away in the beauty section but it's worth the find. I had a great doctor by the name of Dr. Le and a VERY helpful front desk associate by the name of Nick. They went above and beyond service. Dr. Le was great to chat with, very informative, passionate about what he does and an all around nice man. Nick fixed a pair of my glasses which he didn't even have to do because I was there for contacts. I will definitely be back for prescription sunglasses and any other optical needs. I love this place. I used to go to a private optometrist back home and I was paying an arm and a leg. Here there are deals or coupons to help the costumers out. I bought rx polarized sunglasses today that would have been 200 dollars more at other places. All of the staff and doctors are super friendly and very helpful. I recently went in to pick up my glasses and upon trying them out - they were super blurry. However, my experience after that was great. I waited about ten minutes and saw Dr Lee (she was not who I saw the first time). She figured out what was wrong in my original prescription and took her time. She was friendly and very competent. She apologized that they had made a mistake even though it wasn't hers. She made sure that I left with a prescription that is correct. Even with the mix up I would go back and see Dr Lee. read more

Nick Nick Nick!!! My man! This guy has always been 110% rock star, every single time I've visited this shop in the last 3-4 years. Always exercising a phenomenal attitude, and a level of patience I wish I had. Today was the second time I returned because 1) I didn't like the first set of frames I ordered (just a bad choice on my part), 2) there was a physical defect with my new choice of frames. The store was slammed with people (about 8 people simultaneously breathing down the necks of 2 employees), and still Nick took the time to help me try and adjust the new specs, then when I realized they had a small scratch from the manufacturing lab... I told him we'd have to order another pair. No frustration, no arguments, only a very friendly and professional "sure man, I will call the lab personally and make sure they are extra careful crafting and shipping the next pair." In the meantime, I get to keep the ones I have now, until the replacements come in. I've had great experiences with every staff member here, but to be perfectly blunt... Nick, and Lolita are the main reasons I continue to return to this store. Big ups to these team members! Plus, I love the new Converse frames. No-brainer all around. read more

I've never been to a Target store for an eye exam and/or to get frames, but this Target Store amazed me with their selection, professionalism, suggestions, optomotrist and ability to work with my insurance to get the most out of my benefits. The staff was very polite, dressed nicely and were very attentive. Dr. Avery Shulman was the 'grandfather-like-figure' Optomotrist who was very thorough and was no-nonsense when giving me the eye exam. He also told me about a new brand of contact lens, the care and upkeep of these news lenses and asked me if I had any questions. The entire process took about an hour. If this is your closest/cheapest option, they did provide a decent exam and good glasses. HOWEVER....my teenager is in the midst of aging out of one parent's insurance policy (per a divorce/parenting agreement) and thus I put him on my insurance during my open enrollment period last winter. This meant that for several months, he had two very good insurance policies: mine and his dad's, both of which have generous vision plans. The exam was fine (make an appointment for sure though) but then we returned to choose frames and lenses. I had a DD kid along, too, who was both singing and checking out all the mirrors, which seemed to bother the three people working there, such that they utterly ignored us as long as possible, even walking around us (standing right at the service desk) to welcome other customers just walking in. Finally I was able to make eye contact with a salesperson, and stated that we were there to choose frames, using our vision plan. Without asking me for a single piece of information, like what plan we had, what frames we wanted, who the patient even was (me or one of my kids), she said: "It will be $130 if you use the coupon, which is going to be better than what your insurance will end up costing you." Well, I said, my plan says it covers $120 for frames, so do you mean a $10 copay? or they don't cover the lenses? or... ? "Our current coupon is going to give you a much better deal than your insurance, so we strongly recommend you don't use your plan and just use our coupon. Do you have the coupon or do you want to see our offer?" Cut to the conclusion: after a lot of very uncomfortable back and forth insisting to at least check one or both plans and needing to help several times with finding us in their online system (despite just having been there for a fully covered, $0 copay eye exam), my teen got really stylish frames, lenses per his prescription, and it was entirely covered. We had to pay literally 23 cents. I know these places are under pressure to sell, but this was outright bad customer service, plus untrue. I will make the long long trek to Sears Optical out west from now on, because they basically have the same frames/prices, but the trip is worth the trade of knowing I can trust their salespeople to accurately check my benefits, despite their commission. read more

Diana welcomed me and assisted me with the paperwork, Dr. Christine Lee examined my eyes explaining to me in layman's terms the state of my eyes and vision, Earnest assisted me in choosing new eye glasses and helped me with this part of the process. All were extremely helpful and had concern for me. I am a senior citizen and it was a wonderful experience, something I do not encounter very often. Went to Target and got and eye exam today by Dr Le. It is something that I had been putting off. You can make an appointment on the internet or call and set one up. She was so nice and state of the art equipment to get the perfect prescription . Everyone there was so wonderful and extremely friendly! Talking to Dr Le about what i preferred I am sure I got the right contact lens for me! Everyone listened to me and to my needs. I have to say if you are looking to have a great experience when shopping for contacts or glasses this is the place to go. I also like that Dr Le already sent me an email regarding my appointment today! It also had a link to set my appointment to my calendar regarding my next appointment.
