Thorough eye examination and prices are good. All ophthalmologists I have seen there have been very good. I usually get my prescription and buy my frames elsewhere, I lean toward the eclectic style. I have found lovely choices for frames at Hillcrest Optical after my exams at Target. Do not get your contact px here!!! CUSTOMER SERVICE IS USELESS The prescription will be incorrect and though it is 100% they're fault they will say there is nothing they can do. I'm a small business owner if I ran my business like this I would be out of business. I got glasses/contact prescription in Sept 2022. I don't use contacts often so I didn't use my trial pair given to me and I waited until April to purchase contacts. The prescription is wrong. I can't see out of my left eye w these contacts and they started giving me really bad headaches. I called to let them though this and they want me to pay for a new prescription????!!! Hard no- They messed up the last one. They are saying my eyes changed that drastically in 8 months! Im no eye dr but I'm also not buying that my eye went from 5.75 to 5.25. I usually go to Specs in South Park bc they are so wonderful and do a thorough eye exam. Targets hours are a little better that's the only reason why I switch between the 2. Please support small businesses not these big cooperate business that have zero customer service skills. I've been going to Specs since 2011 and they will never mess up your prescription. read more

The website is horrible. Anytime you try to do anything it glitches out. I wanted to order a few boxes of contacts before my prescription ran out but the order was returned to sender for a wrong address.(they never notified me) Chat lady told me they put the wrong city in and resent the order. but now they require to submit a prescription again to process the exact same order?? but now my prescription has expired! so I have been trying to cancel the order so I can at least get my money back but the stupid site keeps giving me errors. Alejandro and Mariel C. provided me with excellent customer service today, 12/27/2018. I initially called to inquire about a quote over the phone. Alejandro took the time to enter my insurance information and review several options with me to get a rough idea as requested. Upon arrival, Mariel greeted my daughter and I, patiently waited while we chose frames, promptly assisted us and reviewed options both with/without insruance. There was a slight issue due to another dishonest major optical retailer I'd visited earlier today processing an authorization for frames I never purchased. Mariel suggested I call my insurance to verify and patiently waited while I had to spend 20 minutes resolving the unecessary issue. We were out within 1 hour, at a fraction of the cost of 3 other optical stores I'd received quotes from, I was able to receive 5% off by using my Target card and will wait approximately 2 weeks to receive the glasses. If all goes well with the order fulfillment, I this will be the go-to place for frames/ lenses moving forward. read more

I had been putting off going to the optometrist because I thought it was going to be a pain in the butt, however my eyesight really needed to get checked. So I called and made an appt same day, which was totally unexpected! Everyone was so nice and helpful and respectful of Covid precautions. They sanitize all of the glasses you wish to try on, and they will even give you a second opinion on what looks best. They told me it would probably take 2 weeks or a little longer to receive my glasses, due to the holidays + covid, and to my surprise, literally 1 week after my visit, I got a text to confirm my glasses were ready for pick up! 5/5, definitely recommend! read more

Vision is very important, obviously. The doctor here has always been accommodating. I called bc I lost a lens but was condescendingly told that I need to buy more boxes than I know I need. Amy was very unhelpful, telling me I had to buy more and undermining the fact that I know my vision stance and saying I couldn't get a trial lens. In the past I've been gone another option, especially with my prescription. Maybe Amy is suited for another field. read more

Terrible customer service -- 2 people at the desk: a unfriendly woman (she was trying and it showed) and a nice guy (who was doing all the work). I had not filled out my forms on-line, so the woman gave me a waiver to sign. For one hour after that, she straightened out the display cabinet and totally ignored me. It was my turn to see the optometrist, however, I did not fill out my paperwork. I know the woman knew this but obviously didnt care. On another note, while I was sitting there, a customer came in complaining that they did not get the correct glasses that he ordered, and she blamed it on the outside vender. I knew it was risky to go to Target, across from the Sports Arena (by reading the reviews), but I didnt think I would be up against a lady that with an attitude (although the previous reviews did worn me). I was a patient of Target Optical a number of years ago. After getting new insurance I popped into Pearle Vision (out of convenience location wise) to have an eye exam and was treated horribly. An hour later my husband had the same bad experience. I decided to go back to Target Optical because I needed repair on two different pairs of glasses. I was greeted very pleasantly and professionally by Amy and Addie. They attended to me immediately, I had a pair of sunglasses with a broken arm she fixed and then I had a pair of glasses that had stretched out and did not fit my head any longer. I was impressed with the great customer service here. The staff really want to make sure you are satisfied with your purchase. The lead optician here is a master at adjusting eyeglasses so they fit your face optimally, he was good at it and really wanted to make sure I had a comfortable fit. They also have the Target 90 day return policy that applies to optical purchases as well. The only negative is that the place is unclean. It appears that they reuse the contact lens containers that are for storing contact lenses while you get your eyes examined. I was worried about catching an eye disease. read more

I came in 2 weeks ago for my exam and got my glasses from here as well. I actually came in late for my appointment because I got my times mixed up but they still saw me I'm grateful for that. I found the glasses that I liked and they didn't pressure me into getting more than I needed. I waited about 5-7 days to get my glasses and I got them quick since I ordered them before Thanksgiving. It was my first time visit to Target Vision Center. I get a new pair of glasses and an eye exam every year with my insurance coverage. Not 100% covered but a small co-pay for the eye exam and a big deduction on the Ray-Ban prescription sunglasses I ordered. I was greeted and helped by the most pleasant salesperson named Lommy. She helped me pick out the frames and lenses for my glasses, gave good advice and had a nice smile and laugh. The optometrist associated was named Dr Riolan Marbun. Her receptionist was also the person to do the initial diagnostic screening and was very efficient had a great attitude. Doctor Marbun was professional and thorough. She offered additional services like eye dilation, but did not push to sell them to you. read more

Came here to renew my prescription for my contacts, made an appointment online, filled out the paperwork online after confirming my appointment. As I arrived I had no wait time, my appointment was at 11:30am, the staff were all welcoming and smiling. I loved that I got an appointment reminder via email, text AND phone call. Since i was working the entire week and my appointment was on a friday, I probably would've forgotten to be honest. This location has the only optical in San Diego and it has got to be to be the most wonderful eye exam experience from phone call to out the door with a contact and eyeglass prescription. Been here the past two years for an eye exam. Both times made an appointment, so I just stroll on in at my appointment with no wait, and it's been the same person at the desk helping me, and she's been extremely nice and efficient. I'm pretty sure she's also the one who helped me set up my appointments over the phone. Her name starts with an M, but it escapes me currently. I'm a contact lens wearer, so both times I also got the contacts exam as well as ordering contacts. The price of the contacts if very reasonable with my insurance, plus they gave me a rebate for I believe 35$. The contacts arrived in about a week, and then I just stroll on in again, pick them up and I'm done. Haven't ordered a pair of glasses from them, so I didn't check out their selection, so I can't judge them there. Summary: Awesome and efficient service. For 2 years I've been in and out, and no trouble during the eye exams, and my contacts have always arrived very quickly. Also, I believe this is the only Target Optical around in SD, which is why I chose it. read more

Ultimately, I've been dealing with Joseph J. and Daniel S. and they're AWESOME. I ordered one pair and found it to be too heavy for my face, so when I brought them in today to exchange for something else, I was met with NO arguments or problems. They said "no problem - even exchange" and just wanted to make sure I was happy with the final product. Really pleased with the service and the prices are very, very fair. TIP - even if you can't make it to any of the glasses sales going on, you get 30% off with AAA and if you get/have the Target Red Card, you can use that to pay and get an additional 5% off, so again, very fair prices versus Lens Crafters and alike places. read more

Thank God for 90 day satisfaction guarantees. From the point of view of my 9 year old, this one saved his ass. I don't know how many ways you can teach a kid how to take car of their glasses, but this is his second pair so he knows a little bit about it. And his first pair only met their demise because I sat on them. That's right, he left them on my car seat and they were pulverized. My bad. Now, 3 weeks into this new pair I went to wash them for him, and lo and behold a scratch a hair deep all the way across his left lens. I nearly tore into him, considering they don't accept Tricare (in a military town? Explain that) and I had just paid- I SHIT YOU NOT- $700 for both his pair and mine and the 2 exams. The price you pay for vanity, hoping to have my insurance reimburse me at a later date. Ok, so back to the glasses, they are pretty effed at this point. My husband saved his life previously, and then about a week later, getting out of the shower I went to put on my new glasses witch I am in love with, btw, and see a long, thin scratch in my lens too! Now, I am no n00b when it comes to glasses. I've only exclusively worn them since I was in 3rd grade (I'm in my 30s now) and having been a single mom without insurance I've made pairs last for upwards of 3 years, until you can't superglue the superglue anymore. I've never had a pair wear out so quickly. Buyer beware: the service here isn't awesome, the frames are cute but you can order them on eBay and Walmart will fit lenses to them, and with walmarts frames if the kid breaks them they fix them free for a year. Not here. Now I have to find another pair I like as much as there and fight for my money's worth. I can only hope this yelp review spares someone else the headache. read more

Did a little shopping around and found that they have the least expensive eye exam cost here ($49). The doctor was very nice and patient with me and finished with the exam quickly. The guy and the chick that were there were incredibly helpful when it came to time pick out frames. I told the guy (Mateo) what I liked (purple) and he found all the frames that fit the description. I didn't want him to get upset with me for being rather picky, but we were both laughing the whole time. While my sister was getting her eyes checked, Mateo also picked some frames out for her off of what I told him she would like. My sister did, indeed, like what Mateo had picked out for her. If Yelp had half stars, I'd actually rate TO three-and-a-half stars simply because I really don't have much to go on in terms of optometry offices. But the service was great and the selection of frames is pretty big, given the current trend. read more

He's confident, mellow, very knowledgeable, and put me completely at ease, as "going to the eye doc" KIIIIIINDA gives me anxiety! (especially the drops and the POOFS of air in the eyeballs!) But, honestly, I always find myself having a pretty fun time when I go to Target Optical! The staff is down to earth, extreeeeemely kind, helpful, and absolutely go the extra mile for customer satisfaction (they even insisted adjusting my sunglasses that I didn't even purchase there! Who does THAT?) OH - and ummm... it's IN TARGET! HELLO! So, I was able to shop shop shop while my pupils went back to normal after dilation. Totally convenient. Totally awesome experience. Great service. I would definitely recommend coming here. I came in about 6 months ago with a broken pair and Manuel spent 30 minutes fixing them and didn't charge me. He even changed the nose pads for free. I came back recently to get a prescription and he ended up getting me a better deal than what my insurance provided. Enjoyed my experience here. Originally,l I went here back in 2013 and it's been a while since I got my eyes checked. I called to see if there was any availability for a walk in appointment and just my luck there was! Reza, I spoke with on the phone answered some of my questions about the appointment. When I came to my appointment I was kindly greeted by a young man. I told him that I have an appointment and that I had questions regarding which insurance they accepted. I then met Reza and she answered all my questions regarding that. I looked around the store and waited for the doctor to be ready. Moments later the doctor introduced himself again and asked if I had any issues with my current prescription and of course your every year eyes exam. In my opinion, I love seeing the Optometrist, I mean the exams are kinda fun... Right!!? You get air blown in your eyes, click a button to see your reflects and the doctor asking you what looks more clearer... Easy and done in no time! Since, I have been noticing some difference in my vision the doctor asked if he can check my eyes further by dilating my eyes. He puts this special eye drops that takes about 15 minutes to kick in and what it does is it make your pupils larger (to see all the extraness up in there)... I tell you it's the weirdest feeling but also insane how large they are! O_O .. Note: Some people can drive when getting their eyes dilated (because sensitive to light) and some have a harder time... The feeling last about 4 hours... I had no problems with that, put some sunglasses on before I walked out and everything was great! Thanks! read more

I have been coming here for the last couple years and enjoy the experience. Typically the appointments are all running on schedule and the staff is very knowledgeable about the products and offers. The first time I got contacts they were teaching me how to put them on and off and were very patient and supportive as it was taking me a very long time to get the hang of them. This made me feel comfortable and relaxed. I could only imagine if they had made me feel rushed how frustrating this experience could have been. Overall, I will continue coming back for my eye needs. They tend to have appointments available for all times of the day and week, and can get you in the office really quick. I set an appointment for the next day at one point! read more
