AMAZING LITTLE BAKERY Drove past this place and decided to stop in. We started by just ordering a few of the boereks, but as stuff kept coming out of the oven we couldn't help ourselves and just continued to add on things. Everything was really good, but my personal favorites were the mini cheese and mini spinach puffs, which had a more croissant like dough, and the lahmajoun, a sort of pizza like flatbread. After getting more than enough pastries to fill up three of us and have some left over, the bill only came to 16 dollars. Definitely a stop you need to make. read more

My fave Armenian bakery, Arax on Santa Monica, closed a few months ago. I've been looking for a nearby replacement and just found it at Taron. This place is a gem! The first time I walked in I was totally intimidated by the fact that there was no menu and any lettering found in the store was of course, in Armenian. All the customers: Armenian. Homeboys outside: Armenian. As I walked up to the clerk it was almost like going to the soup Nazi, you just gotta walk up and say what you want fast, pay, and get the hell out of there. Try not to ask questions. I'll break it down for you: They have 6 items pumping out of the furnace all day: bread pastry dough with either spinach, spicy or reg cheese, and meat. They also have 2 types of Armenian 'pizzas'.... Everything is around $1.50.... this place is essential, just a little scary the first time. Be strong and think of me. read more

What a bargain, where else in LA can you get a snack for $1.25 ?! I'm beginning to believe that the most unassuming of places are hiding some of the better food and best deals in town. I'm a particular fan of the lahmajunes, which are thin crust pastries topped with minced meat, herbs and spices. It's not quite a pizza so I can't make that comparison, but I can see how they would satisfy someone craving either one. It's light and delicious, so you'll probably need to order two or more. Spread some labneh on top and you'll feel like a boss. My experience with lahmajunes is really limited to this place and a few spots in Buenos Aires (also home to a substantial Armenian population), but I'd say they're pretty damn solid, especially with their price point taken into consideration. Space is definitely grab and go and super sparse and utilitarian which adds to that authentic charm. read more

took the train into los feliz today. walking to help settle lunch in the belly, i stumbled upon this armenian bakery. curious george i be, i planned on just looking at menu, especially being soo full from lunch already. NOT! the soothing scent of fresh baked dough intertwined with herbs and spices overwhelmed my olfactory system. i ordered the spinach beorek for $1.50. it was ok. scent from outside was more appealing than the taste. spinach, herbs, and spices were a bit tangy. i think there was a hint of vinegar in the mixture. hmm. i'd try this place again but will try something else on the menu. they accept cash only. read more

Located in on a little corner in Little Armenia, this place is a GEM. They serve by far the best traditional Armenian pizzas "Lahmajun" and varieties of borek. I have fond memories of eating this food after school in Hollywood...yummm...The place is hole-in-the-wall esque, but it's so good! They also have a variety of drinks including the yogurt drink, Tan, which pairs very well with Lahmajun. I usually enjoy my food in the outdoor area when I have time. read more

Love it. Good eats. Ok so the first time I walked in I was freaked out by the greasy thug looking guys hanging outside the place and the no frills interior. True, I didn't understand a word anyone was speaking or anything on the newspapers and random pieces of propaganda on the walls....but the smell......oh it was heaven. Five stars for consistency, taste, quality, and price! Taron Bakery is the place to go to satisfy a craving for delectable Armenian street food. Meat eaters can't go wrong with a couple lahmajouns (90 cents a pop) and everyone can enjoy their wonderful boreks (spicy cheese, spinach, and meat) all under $3! enjoy an iced cold Armenian soda pop and sit on one of their chairs outside. Not the place for a fancy, sit-down cafe experience, but hey, you're here for the snack! Great to take home, add to your lunch, or snack on in the middle of the night or while watching a movie. Keeps in the fridge wonderfully. I'm typically a meat-eater, but my favorite is their spinach borek which is loaded with flavor from their Hungarian paprika and other spices. We took a couple of our pals from out of town and we were all very happy. However, if you're looking for a different,more filling kind of borek, try Moises in the Farmer's Market-- a million more flavors, but more of a meal than a street food. PS. The food here is Middle Eastern Armenian fast food. You go in and come out with your savory, garlicky and fragrant goodies. My absolute favorites are the lahmajun, a very thin piece of leavened dough covered in a delicious mix of quality ground beef, garlic, onion, tomato and spice paste. Two will do the trick. Another one I like is the spicy cheese pie. This too is extremely filling. This spot is great and most times hot from the oven. There is the occasional "please wait 10 minutes for next batch ." Today was one of those days for me but it was really a 5 minute wait and well worth it! read more

This is the worst bakery I can think of. Both the lady at the counter and the baker are outstandingly rude and lazy; they would only serve friends and regular customers. The owner of the store is an extremely greedy thief increasing his rates every few months and deteriorating his quality. What he gives is only worth A few cents for the dollars he is charging; just making fun of his customers. May he be doomed forever. Greed and rudeness deserves only a no star. read more

Beats any of the lamaju places in town..including border towns like Glendale. This is the spot to go to. Really unbeatable. Food is really good, always consistent and very fairly priced. I enjoy my lamaju with lemon, which they sometimes run out of. That's my only gripe. I used to spend HOURS making Armenian pizzas with my grandmother. She was an AMAZING cook, especially of authentic Armenian food. The Bourek is also tasty, but the Lahmujane is full of flavour and irresistibly cheap. If you don't know this Armenian dish, it's basically a small thin crust meaty pizza.
