SoCal Wedding Consultant was everything I could have hoped for in a coordination team, and more. My inquiries and initial contact was predominantly with Adreanna, and she was amazing every step of the way. I felt like not only did she have my back, but that she completely understood what we were going for with our wedding - which while it wasn't exactly traditional, it wasn't so out of the box either. Other folks I spoke to initially struggled to grasp the concept. Adreanna was organized, punctual, and on top of everything and anything I needed, even when I started working with her almost a year and a half in advance. Taryn is truly amazing and sent wonderful emails and kept in contact, before becoming the primary contact closer to my wedding. I am a type a worrier, and few people in this world could have alleviated my anxiety the way Taryn did. She handles every detail in the calmest way possible, making what is usually a very stressful process feel calm and doable. She was patient with my husband and I wanting very specific vendors to suit our style, and helped us break down the planning process into bite sized chunks. As a result, we were able to relax in the week leading up to our wedding, which is a rare rare thing! The day-of was incredibly smooth, and Taryn handled the tiny inevitable things that pop up like a pro, keeping me calm while being transparent. We hired Taryn over a year ago for our January 2020 wedding. We decided to work with her after our hour long discovery call, in which I really connect with Taryn's work ethic and expectations. Over the year leading up to the wedding, Taryn's responsiveness and open communication made me trust her completely (hard for a Type A personality!). On the day of our wedding, Taryn's trustworthiness allowed me to hand almost everything off to her so I could focus on having fun and enjoying the day. We hired SoCal Wedding Consultants for a month of consultations. We had good moments and bad moments. Overall, they were not able to execute on our wedding day leaving myself as a bride disappointed and in the kitchen in my wedding dress while the coordinator ate lunch outside. Our venue and serving company continuously apologized on their behalf but you only have one wedding. I did reach out to Taryn for a call not for a refund but a discussion, she indicated that even before we were started they typically don't take on clients who use outside vendors. I'm not sure why we were not told this. Our call unfortunately, wasn't as productive as Taryn was stuck on an objective and justified all of Cindy's behavior rather than just validating that my day did not go as planned. Taryn made this statement and it was very alarming, "If I had to refund everyone who called and said they were unhappy with our services, I would not have a business". WOW- just wow. We hired Taryn about a year ago when we first started planning our wedding for this past Thursday. I was worried about getting a great planner on the books before they all booked out as we were planning from Portland, OR to get married in my home area of San Clemente. We hired her for partial planning which, to be honest, I'm not sure how it was considered partial versus full since she did SO much of the work. I did the research for vendors in the area and she took it from there, kept track of our budget, small details, gave us some REALLY solid advice when we had ideas that would probably not be feasible for the day of. She was timely to respond even with personal matters going on in her life, she still responded really quickly and did her best to get our questions answered promptly. We had a few small hiccups come up along the way with our planning that I thought were going to cause issues but honestly- Taryn and her team were the reason our wedding day was PERFECT. My husband and I were saying the next day- you rarely hear people say they had a perfect wedding. We DID have a perfect wedding. A few things (on my part, not SCWC) went differently than anticipated, we didn't purchase enough alcohol, the bride had a little hangover the morning of the wedding (whoops!) - but those things didn't matter whatsoever come wedding time. We started at the exact time we had on the invitation, the schedule ran perfectly smoothly but most importantly- my family and husband and I were able to ENJOY the entire wedding without a hiccup and without having to fix ANYTHING. Taryn and her team ran every part of the evening and it was seriously the best wedding I've ever been a part of. Not to mention- almost every vendor mentioned her professionalism and organization at some point along the way. Taryn planned the wedding we didn't think was possible, and it was as close to perfect as we could have hoped. Book her!! Our story: We wanted to plan an interracial, intercultural, inter-religious wedding ceremony and reception that would please everyone on both sides. Even to us it sounded like a recipe for disaster or worse, a huge let down. We decided to have a long, 2.5 year engagement so that we could fully integrate + familiarize our families with one another. This was not a regular wedding! In the end, everyone on both sides of the family loved it, grew from it, and walked away in awe at what we had managed to pull off. We contacted Taryn in October of 2017 -- one year after we had gotten engaged -- because we really needed to start planning! We were looking for someone who seemed honest, organized, and had a crystal clear vision for how things should go. We didn't want a push over planner who would do anything we asked even if it was a bad idea, and we also didn't want a planner-zilla who oversold us on unnecessary details. Right in the middle -- simple right? LOL. After speaking with multiple planners on both sides of those not-so-good spectrums, we found Taryn. I'll never forget the phone call with her. I just sort of knew she was the one. She's simple, to the point, and has done this enough times to know exactly what to do. My husband and I are both journalists, and even more, I'm a producer... so we've both planned events big and small and spend our days worrying about details literally no one else will notice. It was going to be very hard for me especially not to get overwhelmed in trying to produce our event all ourselves, even with a wedding planner, and Taryn made it really easy for us to let go and let her handle things. Almost two years later we got married! The two years we worked with Taryn were perfect. She always delivered exactly what we wanted. We got the venue, photographer, florist, food, hair and makeup we wanted, and she worked with us patiently on each and every question we had. And we had a lot of questions! In the background, we were working through two years of intense negotiations with our families and ourselves on this epic coming together of two families who didn't know each other or each others customs and traditions. When it came time to speak with Taryn, we were exhausted from working through compromises with our families, and it was so nice to work with her because she was our little calm island in the storm around us. Planning the 50/50 split wedding of our dreams was not easy! Taryn made it easy. When it came time for our wedding day, Taryn was there for us. I'm a high anxiety person, and so the wedding events really amped up my anxiety. We had six events in eight days... on the morning of the fourth event I woke up completely nervous and sick. I was supposed to be in charge of cutting music for our dances with our parents, but my nerves were keeping me from doing anything useful. Taryn checked in on me + the music, and I just decided to admit -- I cannot do anything. She asked if she could call me, and she did immediately. After the phone call she took over the music duties and I felt so much better. The next day was our wedding day. It's hard for me to admit something is perfection, but our wedding really was for us. I let go as much as I could as a high anxiety planner for a living type person, and Taryn took the wheel for both of us. I didn't worry about anything and everything went exactly how we had envisioned it. I was able to be so present during my events that I didn't even see her and her team working the event. Everything ran like clockwork. The room design was beautiful, her team was great, and I just felt like I could fully let go and enjoy something almost three years in the making. Taryn was absolutely critical to making our wedding perfect. Her professionalism from the very beginning to the very end is astounding and never once did me or my now wife feel worried. Taryn's ability to remain calm and composed in emergency situations (and we had a few) really helped everyone involved in the wedding remain happy and stress free. For example, my suit button fell out right before we were about to walk into the ceremony and in an instant Taryn was sewing the button back on. Another example was when my wife's dress was too long for the first dance and again, here comes Taryn to the rescue. Taryn quickly pinned her dress up so that not only did it keep my wife's dress off the floor but it looked great as well. Taryn's communication skills are excellent and never once did she feel cold or disconnected. She checked in on us throughout the planning process and on the day of with perfect frequency: not too little where we felt disconnected and not too much where we felt smothered. Taryn was exceptional at her job. I called upset with my venue at the time and how I wasn't getting any help. She assured me that it was ok and talked with me for awhile. She was very nice and helpful. She told me her pricing and I knew it was out of our budget so she worked with us. It was still quite expensive but very reasonable and better than competitors prices. She has excellent reviews and I'm very glad I called her. I wouldn't have used anyone else to help with our wedding. Unfortunately I didn't end up booking with her because we switched venues and have been getting more help from then and the bridal party. Taryn and her team are the best! I am generally an organized person, actually a planner by profession, but manufacturing is different from weddings and I was clueless. I knew enough to know that I at least wanted someone to help with day of coordination, but with Taryn, I got so much more. After a search online, I found her. We had a consultation by phone where she asked me about my likes and dislikes and my "vision" (cheap but pretty? vintage garden party?). We then agreed to the package where she gave me recommendations (really helps to narrow things down, but you can also use who you want), I book and pay, and then she coordinates from there. Once we picked our venue (CFAER), we started the planning adventure. Taryn is VERY organized (and professional, and nice, and CALM). She sent us a link to their planning software that had all the budgets, timelines, lists, seating charts, you name it, it's there, which I really liked. She would assign me tasks and deadlines (not all at once, so it's not overwhelming), and as I completed them, I checked them off. Due to our busy work schedules, we had a planning session online, which worked out really well, and we also met once at the venue to review set up. We had a wedding party of 3, so no drama there (well, after I convinced my man of honor/best man/officiant that he could not wear papal robes). In the beginning, I was very laid-back, I wanted no part of decor, certainly no DIY, and I just wanted a fun and memorable time for my guests. Then, the bridal gene kicked in and I was all about making whimsical table numbers and place settings and bar signs and guest book alternatives with keys that people sign and then finding the perfect tray(s) on which to display the keys and favors which went with the key theme which was getting out hand...Taryn was very patient and accommodated it all. Day of, Taryn was awesome. I didn't have to do anything. My now husband dropped everything off at the venue, and she and her team went into action. The cake arrived, but the bakery had not made arrangements to decorate with the fresh flowers delivered by the florist - no problem. There was a timing glitch with the vendor meals - no problem. There may have been a text from me in the middle of the night about me not setting up cues for entrances and remembering who would stand where - no problem. Need your dress bustled (do what she tells you and get the video at your fitting) - no problem. When I arrived through those doors, everything was beautiful, everything was timed perfectly, and everyone was happy and enjoyed themselves. I cannot say enough good things about Taryn and her team. CALL TARYN NOW! I initially spoke with several planners trying to find someone to help me plan my wedding in CA from the East Coast. As soon as I spoke to Taryn, I was at ease. She understood what I was looking for in a planner and in a wedding, and had such a calm demeaner that I loved. It was a pretty easy decision after that. Taryn was initially supposed to be working with us for a quick turnaround for a Fall 2020 wedding, which turned into an additional year of planning and rescheduling. I cannot imagine doing that without her - everything was so smooth. She uses this wonderful system called Aisle Planner that allows for all the checklists, seating charts, etc. to be in one organized place. When she said she would handle something, I never worried that it wouldn't be handled. She is the sweetest and so calm, but she will also go to bat for you when you need her to! We just had our wedding this weekend, and it went perfectly. Our whole bridal party told us how much they loved Taryn. She made sure everything was perfect, but also made everything fun. She had an assistant planner with her, Caleb, who was also wonderful, and they stood next to us before our entrance and did a countdown dance together before opening the door for us. They both quite literally re-bustled my whole dress with safety pins when I told her it was dragging on the ground.
