I make this review after a month of progress for my hair that could not be done without Tashi. I thought my hair was healthy enough since it was thick and long. However when Tashi cut my hair i left the salon with shorter hair than expected. Little did I know, it was the best decision she made for me. I have thick curly hair that not many have been able to properly cut or style. Tashi did an amazing job and was the sweetest person ever. I had a great experience getting my haircut from Tashi's Salon. I really wanted to get it from someone who has experience cutting curly/wavy hair, since my prior cuts from other salons were a little disappointing. Tashi confirmed what I wanted for my cut since it was a lot; I wanted to cut 6 inches with some layers and trim my bangs. I had split ends which is why I wanted to cut so much of it off. I appreciate her making sure to get right what I desired and confirming it with photos. After the cut, she washed and styled my hair. Her appointments are spaced out so she spends an adequate amount of time with each client and is not rushed to get the job done. Then she suggested products to take proper care of my hair since the current products I was using were too harsh for my scalp and hair. She suggested reasonably priced products since I am a college student so I appreciate her being mindful about that. Tashi is amazing. I know I can show show her a picture of what I and I know that she will give me that and she will keep my hair healthy while she does it. The first time I went in was for a trim and color. The cut she gave me months ago has continued to keep a great shape and look amazing. During this visit she took my hair from red to a light brown with blonde highlights. The second visit I wanted to work towards a platinum blonde. Upon arrival Tashi had me fill out a consultation form about my hair and afterwards we reviewed it. She gave me some helpful suggestions on how to improve my wash and styling routine. Before going in for the haircut, she had me pick a cut/style I wanted from google pics. I wanted to go short, something I was a little nervous about (I've had bad haircuts before from other stylists who didn't know how to properly cut curly hair), but with Tashi I never felt so comfortable going in for a haircut! After the cut (which she did on dry hair), she washed it really good and even gave me a small demo of the Culture treatment she sells there. With those products, I could instantly tell the difference in the moisture of my curls. After the wash, she diffused it for me. About two hours after the cut when my hair was fully dry (I sprayed some Set It Free spray from Deva Curl and teased it at the roots with my hands), I could see the final result of my cut and I'm in love with how it turned out! It took me a while to trust some to cut my curly hair. I waited 7 years to actually trust a hair dresser.I showed her the pictures of what I wanted and left with a totally different hair cut than what I asked for. She cut over half of my hair length. My hair was able to reach my hip/butt but now it doesn't go past my armpit area. My hair was wet while cutting it and while she was cutting it i was thinking that's kinda short considering that my hair will shrink when it dries since it's curly. She didn't style it or try to make it have more volume. I left that salon with my hair dripping wet and over half of it gone. I tried giving her the benefit of the doubt and tried styling it on my own but it wasn't working at all. Tashi is so talented, professional, and has such a positive spirit, I was hooked after the consultation. She really does care for your natural hair. After going to so many "celebrity" stylists, Tashi is the one who is bringing my natural hair back to life with these protective styles. I've seen some reviews regarding transparency, however, it literally tells you when you book the appointment the amount listed is the starting price. Once you are in her chair and she understands what needs to be done, that is the time to ask about what everything will cost. Not at the consult. Waited a while to post this as I really wanted to live my hair and have the price be worth it but unfortunately it is not. I've been looking for curly haired specialists for a long time and was encouraged by the good reviews. The haircut is nice I'll say that but I did not appreciate the lack of transparency about the price. I knew it would be an expensive cut and was quoted the $150 per the email. We completed the consult, told her the last girl did not do a good job and it was obvious. She goes to work and at the end tells me "your total for today is $300". I thought it was a joke and was told "since I had to fix the bad haircut that's the extra cost. I never know when to tell clients about the price increase". Well you tell them at the consult portion. I was frustrated. Also if you charge that much I expect upgraded products to be used. Not ones that I was told could be found at TJMaxx. My hair was in dire need of a cut , I had the length I desired but my hair lacked shaped and even though I was using products that are supposed to keep my hair hydrated and healthy, I still dealt with dry unmanageable curls . I made my appointment with Tashi , this was my second visit to her salon, I had previously dealt with another stylist. And I knew this is where I needed to go again to get my hair healthy again . Tashi is simply incredible, she's very personable and professional. I love that she has a nice consultation with you before doing anything to your hair . She will ask you in depth questions before coloring your hair so she can give you professional advice on how your hair may react to the color so as not to do any further damage . ( I.e if you're on any medication or if you've had a child recently the hormones can really have an affect you were un aware of ) Tashi gave me a wonderful cut ! It's been a few years since my first and last cut from this hair salon. I was excited to get my haircut from a professional who I thought would possess better communication skills and professionalism. First of all, they offer no trim. It's a full haircut with a full price even you just want your ends cut or reshape/freshen up layers. I saved up money and went in their with pictures for my inspirations. I respected Tashi's opinion that what I wanted was slightly out of reach considering my hair was not long enough to achieve the desired look. But she showed me a picture with shorter hair but very similar shape which I agreed to get. I made sure to tell her I'd like to keep my length as much as possible and just add layers to give more volume. I should've said something when I saw a chunk of hair she cut out, but she's a professional right? More than the unnecessary amount of hair cut out of my head which left me with my hair shorter above my chin, this lady made me walk out of her salon WITH WET HAIR. WITHOUT DRYING, NOT EVEN TOWEL DRYING. WITH DRIPPING WET HAIR. still paid full price with a tip. I know she didn't dry my hair, because that would further shrink my hair. It was such a humiliating, disappointed experience that traumatize me to not go to a hair salon that charges me hundreds of dollars just for a simple haircut just to be left with whatever the heck I was left with. It took me 3 years for me to feel comfortable with my grown out hair, and took me much longer to write this review, thinking I should give her the benefit of the doubt. I still think she's kind and skilled, but she could have provided me with a bit more of care and service. I'm sorry, but I'm never coming back again to this salon. read more

I met Tashi about 1 year ago after looking for a braider to help with hair health. My hair was damaged and needed a break and I had worn braids in the past with success. Tashi introduced me to crochet braiding along with the various styles and textures, and let's just say I took her recommendation and haven't turned back! She gave me a look that was a much-needed upgrade that also maintained my hair health. I was scared at first because I only knew individual braids, but this style worked perfect. This place is awesome! I was looking for a good hair studio for 5 months now - and found the best place I could imagine! Service AND place are outstanding! If you have problems with color or frizzy hair, this is the place you need to go! I found them here on Yelp, was impressed by the photos and the reviews and called for an appointment. After I explained to Tashi, the owner, what's my problem and where I would like to go to with my hair, she directly gave me the number of Lisa, the color specialist. I called Lisa, and after telling her the same, she already on the phone explained to me a lot of details and spent quite some time to talk about different techniques. She made me feel very comfortable from the first moment - and I decided to make an appointment. Today I was there - and it was amazing! The studio is small and I was the only customer! First I thought it's kind of weird, because usually you come to a studio which is full of people and very busy - but it was the best experience I ever had with a hair stylist, because you really have the feeling to be taken care of! Lisa checked my hair, asked me for my wishes and gave me her recommendation - and I'm sooo glad I followed her advise! I have the problem that my roots are growing darker and darker, while I actually used to have a lot of highlights. And as you might know, when you have the same situation, after 1 months it already looks terrible because of your dark roots changing your whole appearance, especially when you have long hair which you like to wear as a pony tale or knot. Imagine how this looks after 5 months! I did feel terrible every time when I looked into the mirror! Not to talk about the frizzyness of my hair because of the dry air here in SoCal! So I was looking for a solution where my hair comes close to my root color, but I might still have some highlighted areas which brighten up face and give a feeling of summer and shiny hair. So, I found something you call Balayage. I didn't really know ehat this was about, but I wanted to try. - And I'm happy I did it! Lisa did a great job! Not only that she chose the right colors for me to go with, she also explained to me how it works and how we could adapt the look in the future, in case I wanna go darker. The style she chose is called sun kiss and looks, from my opinion, very natural! I LOVE the result! She also gave me some very helpful recommendations about how to take care of my hair in the future, so it's not that frizzy anymore. I will go with that and see whether this will help. Coming to the price, it, of course, wasn't really cheap. I paid 250$. But she already told me, that the next visits will be much cheaper, as we only have to color the roots, wash and blow up the hair. And compared to the time she spent (I was there from 9:30am to 1:45pm) and her skills (which are tremendous), I think this is absolutely worth it! And not only that. I had the whole salon for my own and felt really like a customer whom is taken care of! Having said that, I hope, this review helps the one or other of you to make your decision, when you are looking for a new hair stylist. In recent years my hair has changed (for the worst, in my opinion.) Where it's been completely unmanageable because of all the frizz and what I like to call my Afro Puff. Plus, I suffer with PCOS and I've been losing hair like crazy especially at the crown of my head. I'm not kidding when I say that I was ready to have a Britney Spears melt down and shave my whole darn head! When I first came in for my consultation, I was an emotional reck because of everything that had been going on up to that point. Lisa is very friendly and fun to talk to. She worked wonders on my naturally curly African American hair...aka kinky hair. I saw her two years ago to have my new fro trimmed. Then she suggested I wait a while before I had it cut again in order for the length to come back. I returned last month and she flat ironed my hair. It looked really nice and healthy. I like that she knew how to work with my complex hair texture.
