Stopped here for a latte while in the area and I'm glad I did. It was a very cute spot with a unique interior. Definitely seemed like a hidden gem. Lots of select bakery items to choose from and enjoy. My latte was tasty!

Cute spot and interior and friendly staff. It was a cool vibe to visit and very unique. I've been meaning to come here for a while now and I was a little underwhelmed with the lack of options. The case for the macarons had labels that were not updated so by the time it was my turn to order I was told that there were only actually 3 options for macaron flavors (they said labels were not updated) and none of which were what I originally wanted. I went with the white chocolate strawberry macaron and a salted caramel chocolate chip blondie. The blondie wasn't the best but it did have a nice flavor- maybe it was sitting out too long as it had a stale type of crisp to it. The macaron was decent but not my favorite around. Maybe I need to come earlier to get fresher items-as none of them really blew me away but they were decent. I would consider trying them out again.

Been to this place many times before. It's a sweets shop with a constantly rotating selection of cakes and cookies. Price is a little high but each dessert is guaranteed fresh since everything they stock is made that day. I do enjoy my sweets, and this is one of the best places to ruin my diet for the week. Place is unassuming, looks like a large house in the middle of a business district. Make no mistake though, this place is putting out delectable delights on the daily

Cute little spot I happened upon in South Windsor! Friendly personable service and the bear reviewed coconut cloud cake was AMAZING!!! I'll definitely be back!

Stopped in on a Saturday. Cutest little shop!! Had lattes, coffeecake & cookies. Coffee was great and pastries were also good! A perfect place to stop by and catch up with girlfriends. Their menu of cakes are mouthwatering and their little cupcakes are so cute!!!

Cute little spot. They have some tasty baked goods, but the gluten free macarons (I had no idea that macarons are made with almond flour), are what drag us back. They're a tad sweeter than I'd expect, but still so very delicious. Probabaly my favorite "I don't have room for dessert, but still want one" dessert. If you're poking around Evergreen Walk for a bit, definitely grab a few to take with you. They won't last long though!

Taste by Spellbound is consistently delicious. Check their Instagram day to day for updates on what's in the case and news about any special theme days. In particular, we tend to get macarons which are technical perfection with a variety of flavors day to day. When they do special cookie stacks for holidays, I always have to nab one. Their sugar cookies are thick and tender. I absolutely love them, despite being less flashy than a cupcake. Stop in. Order whatever flavor wise excites you most. It's all going to be good.

I'm loving the Taste by Spellbound brand. This is the second store I have visited and I just wanted to stay inside and enjoy the cute set up and delicious treats. My maple blondie bar was super good and rich- I recommend sharing with a buddy! The workers obviously work hard and care about serving everyone, I would happily stop by next time I'm in the area.

If you want to find the most amazing sweets this side of the east coast, you MUST check out this place. Miriam and her team have 3 locations: South Windsor, Avon and West Hartford. More importantly though, are the actual baked goods! We don't know of anyone else making cruffins in the area and that's just fine with us. TBS also makes macaroons, dessert bars cookies, etc. But on this day, we decided to grab a French macaron, a lavender lemon bar and a peach and a berry cruffin. The macaron was such a delight! It was delicate, but with the slightest crunch of the cookie and the filling was sweet with a hint of salt. The LLB has the tangiest lemon curd sandwiched between a shortbread crust sprinkled with lavender seeds and a lavender icing. Kismet! And the Cruffins, well. The Cruffins put a spell on us: the flakes of the croissant was light, the buttercream on each was just enough, but to be honest, the fillings left us wanting even more of a dollop. We might be in a quarantine right now, but it's worth the social distancing wait!! Get in line early (they open at 10) stay 6 feet away from the next customer; Get in, Get out, Get home: Wash your hands for 20 seconds and get ready to have your mind blown. You'll thank us later!

I found this spot via another app that offers discounts on end of day items. I had slices of cake which were good. I purchased a few more items full priced. The cannolis were to die for; they fill it right before they hand it to you. The service was good and plenty of parking in a plaza. I would be there often if I lived closer!

"You need bread, try the bakery You need lovin', look here,…read morebaby I got just what you need" (The Doors) Well, whatever your needs might be, you'll probably take care of it at Giuseppina's Italian Bakery, because they really do have it all. Their website, counters, shelves, and showcases offer you temptations everywhere you look. Want a pastry? What kind of a question is that....sure you do, so how on Earth are you going to choose between these? Cannoli, Tiramisu, 3 kinds of mousse, eclairs, frosted or plain brownies (are you bold enough to get a brownie with peanut butter buttercream frosting?), cream horns, rum rolls, an amazing peach concoction of sweet dough soaked with peach juice and rum and filled with vanilla pudding (!), Sfogliatelle, Zeppol, cream puffs, NY style cheesecake, fruit slices (peaches and strawberries with whipped cream layers and frosting), pasticiotti, cappuccino slices, Amaretto Squares, Limoncello Cake Slices and Chocolate Brownie Cake Slices. And there's more - miniature pastries, Cheese danish, apple, raspberry and blueberry turnovers, Cranberry Orange scones, blueberry scones, chive scones, and roasted red pepper scones, lemon and cherry squares. Get the picture? And I haven't mentioned their Italian cookies, 25 cake varieties, cupcakes, cake pops, pizza slices, sandwiches and stuffed breads. The truth is, this place is fantastic and is clearly in the top ten percent of Italian bakeries we've visited. We picked up an assortment of cake slices, a croissant, a scone, and a donut yesterday. They all looked amazing! We started off splitting that donut, and it was great -very light, not too sweet and just plain delicious. Shout out to the young lady who waited on us, she was pleasant and friendly, and our interaction was a far contrast to some of the less than favorable interactions reported by other Yelpers. PRO TIP 1) Don't worry about parking- they're in a shopping center with plenty of parking. 2) How good does their fig, prosciutto and Asiago cheese stuffed bread sound?

But in addition to their wholesale business, they have a retail store at their South Windsor bakery where retail customers can buy the same wonderful products. Nardi Bakery started out in Hartford in the early 1900's, moving to Connecticut Blvd in East Hartford around 1980 and to their current location off Rt. 5 in South Windsor around 2000. They are famous for the Front Street sheet pizza, which is what I'm reviewing today. The pizza comes packed up in a tidy bundle, wrapped in deli paper and sits comfortably in a card board soda flat box. A full sheet pizza is 24 pieces and runs $20. The retail store only takes cash, so plan ahead! The pizza is a thicker, bready pizza with a zesty, acidic yet slightly sweet tomato sauce. There is not a lot of cheese on the pizza, certainly not a solid layer of mozz like most pizzas, think more like a light sprinkling of parmigiano or romano. I remember family gatherings in East Hartford where my grandfather and later my uncle would arrive bearing several sheet pizzas, and it had been years since I had the taste of Nardi's pizza until I recently rediscovered them at their South Windsor location. The taste is pure nostalgia for me. Many people like Nardi's cold out of the fridge, some like it warmed up (10 minutes at 350F works for me), I like it both ways. While you do get 24 good sized pieces in a sheet pizza, I recommend ordering at least two... not only does it keep well in the fridge, but you're going to want to share so others can taste how great it is!

What I had never done before was order online abd go to the store to pickup until last night. Well...it was a cluster f&$k!!!!! I ordered online Saturday evening around 7:30 because we are going somewhere Sunday and they are closed. I waited about 1/2,hour and headed to the store. I not a notification on my phone to "checkin" when I arrived so I parked and checked in from my phone. As I approached the store I was surprised to see a very long line inside of people waiting. But I ordered online a while ago so I won't have to wait, right? WRONG! This is not like Jersey Mikes (or most other food places) where you order online and they start making your food. Apparently at Crumbl, you don't get a spot in line until you checkin! So I had to wait some 20 minutes for 6 cookies I ordered 45 minutes ago. HORRIBLE! Defeats ordering ahead !! They need a radio button in APP: 1. Prepare now or 2. I want them fresh prepare when I checkin. Mine were for next day so whether they boxed them at 7:30 (and had them ready!) or 8:00 when I arrived makes no difference as they're for next day. End of world? NO! But customer experience? You have an awesome APP and "fun" is what you're about - you should have takeout orders ready no one wants to wait!! They did make an announcement when I arrived that they fell behind due to current special. The line moved well but I didn't like that customers who ordered right before I walked in were ahead of me in line even though I ordered 30 minutes ago (and paid!). Great, fun cookies in a cool atmosphere however. EDIT: I got a nice note from the store. But they miss the point. It doesn't matter what the customer wants they are obsessed with "fresh boxing" (even if customer wants them for next day and temp doesn't matter). They showed me during this visit they can't come close to keeping up when they're busy, so be prepared to wait. "We do it our way screw how that inconveniences our customers". All I suggested was an option - box now or wait til I get to the store. Keep everyone happy!!

"I walked in, the baker said everything was sold I found out…read moreshe saved me some sweet jelly roll Yes, the baker shop boogie" (Willie Nix) Since we're friends, let me ask you a personal question--so tell me this: what's your official dessert policy? Are you a "dessert is a human right" kind of person who enjoys something sweet every night after dinner? Do you ceremoniously pair your evening coffee with a treat like it's a sacred ritual? Or are you more of a free range snacker who grazes on cookies and pastries whenever the mood strikes? At our place, we've somehow drifted into the habit of having a bakery item most nights. Could be a cookie. Could be a pastry. Could be a slice of something. All this brings me to yesterday's visit to the Hartford Baking Company in South Windsor, where we are now pretty well stocked for a week's worth of upcoming desserts, and maybe a breakfast or two. They have four locations in the Greater Hartford area, all selling the same amazing product line of bread, ciabatta, and rolls. But for the sweet tooth fiends out there, well get psyched for their scones, muffins, Walnut Coffee Cake, Financiers (a French almond cookie), brownies and bars, cookies, biscotti, shortbreads, Danish, Cinnamon buns, Pecan-Walnut Sticky Buns, Brioche Pastries, fruit tarts, and quiches. We were running errands in South Windsor yesterday, popped into Hartford Baking, and walked out with a bounty of wonderful looking goodies- brownies, a croissant, a chocolate banana muffin, a rectangular Financier, and a slice of coffee cake. We should be set for a while in the dessert department. I had the Financier last night, and never having heard of the word before, I consulted the old Google machine for some research and found a very cool origin-story. In the late 1800's there was a pastry shop located near the Paris Stock Exchange. The shop sold very popular small almond cakes that were baked in small rectangular molds resembling gold bars. They were a hit with the busy bankers who frequented his shop. The name "financier" stuck because of both the clientele and the gold bar shape. I have to tell ya, that Financier was amazing. It was dense and delicious and overflowing with almond flavor. I loved it. I also had a teense of the Banana Muffin this morning, and it was excellent as well. Loved that banana flavor and those chocolate chips. OK, so file away "Hartford Bakery" on your short list of "must visit" dessert destinations, because I assure you that you'll walk out a satisfied customer.

Staff was nice but were in the midst of conversation when I approached the register. They quickly took my order then went directly back into conversation. Felt like fast food service, more a number than a guest. Food came out quick. Had to stage my pics a bit but easy enough. The double chocolate latte was chocolaty and creamy. Coffee was strong enough to punch through the sweet and was well balanced as a drink. The sandwich was plentiful on the pulled pork and the egg was cooked well. Bun was soft and buttery but not pillowy. Which is good because you want a breakfast sandwich to be structural enough to hold its shape after each bite. Price was about 20 for the sandwich and latte, which isn't too bad for the quality you get. Much better than your fast food chains, even if you get the same service. A great quick stop location, worth a try but not a trek.
