This was definitely a great surprise stop. This will be my new spot when visiting. Everyone's dishes were done well, plenty of flavor and made fresh. Table had chicken strips & fries, salads, chicken soups, steak and rice, shrimp pasta, and burger meal. The chicken fingers were hand breaded in house and great with a nice honey mustard. The chicken soups are thick comfort food. Decent sized dishes. Everyone left full. Dessert was pecan crusted strawberry cheesecake. Slices I thought were a tad small but they tasted good. I've eaten at Harvey's every time I've been to Starkville, it was one of my favorite restaurants there, however this time it was the absolute worst, the service was great, atmosphere was awesome however the food was HORRIBLE, absolutely NO TASTE to my pasta, it was like they just threw sauce over pasta with a few shrimp without ANY seasoning whatsoever so ever, I let several at our table try it and all weee in agreement with me. We had a 7:30 reservation and were seated by 7:40. One of the most perky servers in Starkville, Kelly, waited on us. We had a glass of wine and a salad. My wife had the stuffed flounder, over roasted potatoes and I had the 13oz prime rib with mashed red skin potatoes. It was very nice, no rush dinner with my valentine. Drinks were ok. Not my favorite and could have been colder for sure. Had a French 75 and old fashion. Spinach dip was hot, just how I like it! Honestly I can't remember what I had as our main dishes because I'm posting this review weeks later. But no complaints. It was hit, and very good. We chose Harvey's for a quiet birthday celebration. NEVER AGAIN!!! It started when we were taken to a table that was not clean. The hostess cleaned as we stood there. Insanely overpriced. Tough fatty steak, bland chicken and cold flavorless grits, and overcooked pasta. For what they charged it was ridiculous. To say our entire party was disappointed would be an understatement. My wife and I went to Harvey's for our anniversary and I made a reservation through Yelp saying that it was our 26th. When we arrived we were asked to wait a moment so that they could prepare our table. The staff had laid out a white table cloth and a bottle of Pinot Noir. We both had excellent steaks and sides - filet minon with a baked potato and prime rib with mashed red potatoes. The restaurant provided us with an anniversary dessert that was excellent! Second time at Harvey's for my bday dinner and it's was great. The broccoli bites are always a must have. I added cheese, eggs and onion to my salad and it was phenomenal. Their ranch is amazing (big ranch lover) and the veggies were fresh and crisp even while this occurred within the last hour of operation. I forgot the names of our drinks but it was something Atlantic and they were mixed perfectly. The steaks could have been seasoned more but my ribeye was cooked to perfection and nothing a little steak sauce can't do right lol. My boyfriend's steak was cooked medium instead of well done (yes he likes tough meat). Our server who was absolutely amazing and attentive, took his steak back and had it recooked. The manager was so kind enough to bring it back and confirm that it was cooked well done for him. Overall, I give it a 9/10. We will be back again! read more

While at a conference in Starkville, my husband and I decided to check out Harvey's. My husband told me that he had dined there 30 years earlier when he was in high school. The restaurant has been nicely renovated, the college decor is very tastefully done. We were promptly seated and our waitress (KP) shared with us the evening specials and got our drink and appetizer order. We tried the Blood Orange Margarita and a pour of Four Roses bourbon on the rocks for our drinks. We ordered the broccoli bites as an appetizer. KP got those going while we perused the menu. Lots of good options but we ultimately both ordered the specials. I tried the swordfish special and my husband chose the ribeye special. We really enjoyed the broccoli bites, followed by a house and Ceaser salad that came with the specials. I'm very picky about salads and I really enjoyed trying both. Both of the specials came out beautifully plated and perfectly cooked. We both saved about 1/2 our meal so we would have room to share a piece of bread pudding. Everything was excellent! I have been going to Harvey's in Starkville, MS for over 30 years. During those outings, the food normally is good except for a few visits. This is my first time ever to leave a review. I went during happy hours and I normally order the down home burger or the broccoli bites but I decided on the cheese burger and it was awful. I always order medium well but it came out burnt. I couldn't eat it so it was returned. The second burger was also burnt but not as bad as the first. I hadn't eaten since breakfast so I ate half and I just couldn't eat the remainder. I talked to the manager and he stated that he would check on it. I told him that they needed to clean the grill and check the temperature because food shouldn't come out of the kitchen If it not cooked appropriately. Harvey's is supposed to be an upscale restaurant not a fast food chain. Very disappointing to say the less. read more

After a day exploring the Natchez Trace, an early dinner was called for and are we glad we tried Harvey's! We were warmly greeted when arriving, even though it was mid-afternoon. Our server, Heather, was incredibly knowledgeable and personable and we thoroughly enjoyed her company throughout the meal. Cocktail and a beer, then late lunch (served til 4pm, it mirrors the dinner menu with a lesser price) were served quickly and were delicious! Shrimp skewers over grits with a great glaze and corn salsa were beautiful to look at and oh so tasty! The Wednesday special, fried chicken breast with mac & cheese and green beans were perfect-crunchy moist chicken, casserole was filled with creamy Mac with a bit of a spicy crumb and the green beans-no can here! Finished with dessert which was big enough to share but I did not! Bread pudding topped with French vanilla ice cream and crème anglaise. The restaurant reminds me of an old-style steakhouse and is so pretty! You must go. read more

In town for a conference and stopped in for dinner at Harvey's. One of the best meals ever! Our waitress, Madison, was super helpful and steered us in the right direction food-wise. Pimiento dip was outstanding and the shrimp skewers were excellent. Honestly, even the side salad was memorable! To top it off, it was half price on bottles of wine. ASK FOR EMILY!!!!!!! Susanna and I had a five star experience at Harvey's. General manager Max gave us a warm welcome right as we walked in and Floor Manager Justin checked on us twice. When we were seated Emily walked up with a smile and gave us such a warm welcome. She was quick with our drink orders and the food was out lightning fast. She offered desert because she overhead us talking about it if we should save room for desert. She also was so sweet to communicate with Justin so that Harvey's would take care of it for us.
