Ate here over the spring and just getting to the review. I was reminded to review it due to the plate pic I took! It was pretty crowded as expected on a weekend so I decided to just sit at the bar. The place itself was clean, nice, and obviously well kept. Some of the other reviews are what sparked my interest, and I can honestly say that I'm glad I showed up. I told the bartender it was my first time in and told her I was looking for a steak. The one she suggested had a small sweet marinade to it. I'm not really a sweet steak guy but I went with it.... and man was it really good. Cooked to perfection (medium rare) and tasted super fresh. The Mac and cheese was also solid, as was the sweet tea. Now... the chicken noodle soup: I loved it. Big soup here and although this soup was not "brothy" at all, it was thick and creamy, so good. If I could give this a 4.5, it would be the perfect rating. The best part of our evening was our waitress Anne/Anna. She was fantastic, super welcoming, not pushy, and made the experience extremely enjoyable. Tried a wine flight which was a great way to start the evening. So many options. Spinach artichoke dip was very solid, little too much big, chunky artichoke for me but that's a personal preference. Presentation on all 3 meals was great. Got the filet mignon and they butterflied it to make it cook more evenly. Baked potato was very tasty. Heard about their great happy hour as well. Wish we could've had dessert but were too full. This was definitely a great surprise stop. This will be my new spot when visiting. Everyone's dishes were done well, plenty of flavor and made fresh. Table had chicken strips & fries, salads, chicken soups, steak and rice, shrimp pasta, and burger meal. The chicken fingers were hand breaded in house and great with a nice honey mustard. The chicken soups are thick comfort food. Decent sized dishes. Everyone left full. Dessert was pecan crusted strawberry cheesecake. Slices I thought were a tad small but they tasted good. My wife and I went to Harvey's for our anniversary and I made a reservation through Yelp saying that it was our 26th. When we arrived we were asked to wait a moment so that they could prepare our table. The staff had laid out a white table cloth and a bottle of Pinot Noir. Second time at Harvey's for my bday dinner and it's was great. The broccoli bites are always a must have. I added cheese, eggs and onion to my salad and it was phenomenal. Their ranch is amazing (big ranch lover) and the veggies were fresh and crisp even while this occurred within the last hour of operation. I forgot the names of our drinks but it was something Atlantic and they were mixed perfectly. The steaks could have been seasoned more but my ribeye was cooked to perfection and nothing a little steak sauce can't do right lol. My boyfriend's steak was cooked medium instead of well done (yes he likes tough meat). Our server who was absolutely amazing and attentive, took his steak back and had it recooked. While at a conference in Starkville, my husband and I decided to check out Harvey's. My husband told me that he had dined there 30 years earlier when he was in high school. The restaurant has been nicely renovated, the college decor is very tastefully done. We were promptly seated and our waitress (KP) shared with us the evening specials and got our drink and appetizer order. We tried the Blood Orange Margarita and a pour of Four Roses bourbon on the rocks for our drinks. We ordered the broccoli bites as an appetizer. KP got those going while we perused the menu. Lots of good options but we ultimately both ordered the specials. I tried the swordfish special and my husband chose the ribeye special. We really enjoyed the broccoli bites, followed by a house and Ceaser salad that came with the specials. I'm very picky about salads and I really enjoyed trying both. Both of the specials came out beautifully plated and perfectly cooked. We both saved about 1/2 our meal so we would have room to share a piece of bread pudding. Everything was excellent! I have been going to Harvey's in Starkville, MS for over 30 years. During those outings, the food normally is good except for a few visits. This is my first time ever to leave a review. I went during happy hours and I normally order the down home burger or the broccoli bites but I decided on the cheese burger and it was awful. I always order medium well but it came out burnt. I couldn't eat it so it was returned. The second burger was also burnt but not as bad as the first. I hadn't eaten since breakfast so I ate half and I just couldn't eat the remainder. I talked to the manager and he stated that he would check on it. I told him that they needed to clean the grill and check the temperature because food shouldn't come out of the kitchen If it not cooked appropriately. Harvey's is supposed to be an upscale restaurant not a fast food chain. Very disappointing to say the less. read more

After a day exploring the Natchez Trace, an early dinner was called for and are we glad we tried Harvey's! We were warmly greeted when arriving, even though it was mid-afternoon. Cocktail and a beer, then late lunch (served til 4pm, it mirrors the dinner menu with a lesser price) were served quickly and were delicious! The Wednesday special, fried chicken breast with mac & cheese and green beans were perfect-crunchy moist chicken, casserole was filled with creamy Mac with a bit of a spicy crumb and the green beans-no can here! Finished with dessert which was big enough to share but I did not! Bread pudding topped with French vanilla ice cream and crème anglaise.
