This establishment is located in a dilapidated shopping strip. I decided to try out their Honduras style platter which is supposed to include a variety of items on their menu for $30. Unfortunately, they told me they were out of two of those items. I would say to call ahead of time but they don't even have a website with an updated menu so pretty much you have to roll the dice and hope they have their items in stock. With what they did serve me was generally awful. The only thing I liked was the baleada. The empenada like food was filled primarily with rice and the flavors for everything else were not great. My friend tried out some of these foods and didn't like them either. The audio was disjointed because they had 2 TV's playing two different things loudly and one of them was glitching. Where do I begin? First of all, this place had friendly service, the waitress was very hospitable. I appreciate the staff calling security to get rid of the homeless person who just came in to cause a ruckus. Now the most important part, the food. Being from a background of Salvadorian heritage, I can say Central American cuisine has many similarities, yet so different at the same time. I love pollo con tajadas, my favorite besides the baleadas. I ordered pollo con tajada, this was not the typical dish of pollo con tajadas. They served the dish with so much sauce that I was wondering if it was a soup. The plantain chips, tajadas, were so soggy from all the liquid (soup) they added to the dish. Chicken had no flavor. Maybe the rest of the dishes are better, but my curiosity to give them another chance is a no go. With the rise of food prices increasing, I'll just take my business else where. read more

So if this review was based on the food alone then it probably wouldn't get a 2 star but I can't get over the crappy experience. My sister and I decided to try a new place and we brought our kids with us. When you enter the establishment you see 7 tables, the place isn't huge however they do have a connecting room with additional tables. The woman in the front desk greets us and tells us we can sit anywhere and hands us the menu. About 2 minutes later she comes over to take our order we advise her we need more time and apologize for taking a extra time to order but place an drink order at that time anyways. She comes back over roughly about 5 minutes later at which time we order two orders of Mac and cheese for the kiddos, my sister orders the Baleada especial and I order the Tacos Hondureños with a side of rice. About 10 minutes later the woman returns with food for my sister and I. It takes roughly about 20 minutes later for the woman to come back and give the kids their food. At this point other patrons who came in after us have already gotten their food and are done eating, yet we are still waiting. I'm not sure if this woman had a bad day today but from the beginning it was almost laughable that we would come in and want to eat here as she laughs at every time we ask her questions about the menu. Never have I went to a new restaurant and had such a rude response while asking questions about a menu. Ultimately I will not be back, the 4 dollar coke bottle is not worth the experience of this restaurant. Back to the food though. The Tacos Hondureños were really delicious even though they arrived to our table room temperature almost cold by the time that I had a bite since I was trying to wait for the kiddos food to get to our table. They were topped with onions, cheese, and coleslaw. The main thing for me was that they were crunchy which made them so much better. Another day, another international cuisine I'm eager to learn about. And in the case of this place, it appears I'm among the first to give it a go. I know next to nothing about Honduras and even less about Honduran cuisine. And as best I can tell this is the only Honduran restaurant in the entire valley. So you better believe I'm all over this. On a Tuesday afternoon after work, I made a stop here for an early dinner. Taste of Honduras can be found in a small strip center on the west side of 19th Avenue just a couple blocks south of Northern. Just look for the business in the middle of the center with blue and white color sign out front. The setup inside is SUPER simple with a counter up front and seating for maybe 30 or so. No fancy decorations, simple furniture, no frills. Looks like its a three person operation with a waitress out front, a couple cooks in the back and that's it. Yet despite the simple setup, the menu is fairly expansive (at least on the lunch and dinner front) with a variety of soups, seafoods, beef dishes, and various Honduran specialties. To start, I grabbed a Nance. A drink made from a tropical fruit native to Latin America. The drink is slightly sweet, but pleasantly smooth and grainy almost like a pear. From there, it was onto what is apparently the closest thing to a national dish in Honduras. The Baleada Special. Basically a soft taco with a flour tortilla. Inside there's refried beans, cheese, cream, beef, and scrambled eggs. You can get one or an order of three. I got just one this time but a delicious one it was. The tortilla had just a little crisp to it and the eggs and beans were cooked perfectly. For the main event, I was admittedly totally lost as to what to get. One dish that featured prominently on their menu was their fried chicken. In this case, the fried chicken is set atop a bed of cooked banana slices and covered in coleslaw, salsa, and cream. It looks like a ton of food when it shows up at your table, but its not as intimidating as it looks. I liked the bananas and the fried chicken toppings, but honestly my biggest complaint was the chicken itself. The waitress seemed to suggest that most customers dig into the pile of toppings, rip the chicken off the bone with their bare hands and then dig in from there. I opted for a cleaner gameplan peeling off pieces of chicken with my knife and fork, but admittedly it was less than artful. I guess I feel like if you're going serve fried chicken on the bone have it on the side so you can mix in the toppings as you please. Maybe that's just me. At the end of the day the fried chicken itself was okay, but I was a much bigger fan of the toppings and banana slices. Finally, I asked for a flan for dessert but unfortunately they were out for the day (bummer) so that's all she wrote for me this time around. Total cost for the food, drink, tax and tip came to about $30. The main dish for me was little disappointing and as always I'm never happy when an advertised menu item is not available well before closing time. But the nance and baleada were both excellent opening acts. The waitress encouraged me to come back and try one of their soups next time. I think I will. Taste of Honduras has promise (and judging by the steady stream of patrons, a growing following), but has a ways to go before I can give a full throated recommendation. If you do come here, absolutely grab a baleada and an agua fresca. And if nothing else, rejoice in the fact that yet another nation's cuisine has popped up in our own backyard. read more

The chicken was over fried and there was hardly any meat left. My husband ordered baleadas, one had everything and two were with just beans cheese. He was grossed out by the taste of the meat. It tasted like the meat was old and very hard to chew. Disgusting. The only good thing was the kids meal, chicken strips and fries. The chicken strips are more like popcorn chicken because the pieces are very small to be considered strips. But they tasted good. What I disliked the most was how they didn't bring out the food out all at the same time. My husband got his food first, 5-10 minutes later my daughter and 8 minutes later my food. The service was ok, our server was a young girl was nice to us. There was about 10 employees there and they were all sitting in the dinning area and talking about dead people and some other weird conversations that I didn't want to hear but the place is too small to not hear them talking. I've been to this restaurant 4 times, the first couple of times were okay experiences because the staff I spoke with were kind and helpful, However the last 2 times I went I got this very rude obnoxious pregnant lady who didn't understand anything I said and kept laughing at me every time I used google translate to help me. I attempted to explain to her that I struggle with Spanish and if she could give me a couple minutes to try and get my order right, she looked at me laughed and said "Apúrate!" She overcharged the already outrageous prices they have their on both Occasions, and the last time I was there she said in English that I need to learn Spanish if I want to keep coming to the restaurant. First we all ordered something different and me and my brother get the same item we tell her that my brother got the fish then she says ohhhhhhhhh that makes sense then brings the fish like 5 mins later but the whole time my one other person still didn't get his food for another 15-20 minutes then I get charged for the extra plate that was never ordered, she keeps I insisting that I should pay for it because the server never took it( he ate a couple chips thinking it was his meal after confirming it's not what he wanted he didn't touch his plate)so after arguing with the lady for about 10 minutes I get the extra meal deducted.
