What an amazing restaurant. Setting is in an old church located near the square of Lagrange. We were greeted immediately and given a table. Our waitress Janet came by and took our drink order and gave us the menus. She was so sweet to our granddaughter and made her a little plate of food after taking our order. The food came out quickly and was so delicious. I never had to ask for a drink refill because of great service. My wife had the special which was the poppyseed chicken and I had the pork chop. Very friendly, quick service! My husband had the pork chop and enjoyed every bite. Everything was good except the Mac n cheese, which everyone raved about, so I guess it was just a bad day for it! WOW! Looks like I will write off Taste of Lemon in Lagrange , GA. I thought I would give them another chance since the last few times there I have encountered the same problem, and I thought it might just be a one off. Here is the problem. For lunch with tea it's $17! The serving size has been reduced quite a bit while the price has gone up and up. For a plate with a meat and 2 sides, $17 is too much. The food is good though but it's not worth $17. We might go a couple of times a year but definitely not as often as we used to go. read more

Stopped by here on the way from Callaway Garderns. Really fresh, delicious country style food in a unique small church atmosphere. They had a line to get in and we were still seated within 10 minutes and the food came quickly. The desserts were amazing. We will definitely be back. read more

I was really excited to try this place. Being from the south we love southern cooking but this is just OK. The service was fine but I felt like the meals were overpriced for what you received . The portions were small and while everything tasted decent it wasn't anything to write home about. We had the chicken and dumplings and vegetables soup which were small portions and I don't even eat a lot. So overall just OK for southern home cooked food but we probably won't go back. We had a wonderful meal at the Taste of Lemon and were well taken care of by our server. She even shared some of the history of the converted church building. Very good home cooking and included dessert. We arrived 1/2 hour before their closing so they were out of 2 of the meal selections but my chicken pot pie and hubby's bbq chicken were excellent. read more

This was ok. It is a "meat and 3" lunch spot located in a former church. There is one large dining room where all the pews used to be. Service is prompt and friendly. The food is served on an undivided plate so if you don't want the juice from your greens and peas to run into the rice your chicken sits on you had better ask them to put the veggies in little bowls for you. This was our first visit and it was wonderful. We drove up from Columbus and both of us had the catfish. The breading on the catfish was so light and both of us really enjoyed it. The vegetables were very well done. The server was fantastic and everybody was so friendly. It was certainly worth the trip and the atmosphere was delightful. read more

Found this spot as we were passing through the area. Great service only downfall is they cook food ahead, so when they're out, they're out. Frequented on a Friday, about an hour before closing, and unfortunately most of the entrees were gone. I opted for the salad plate which for the 6 offerings of varying salads were good. This restaurant is very cute and quaint. It's venue is an old church and was very open concept. The food was delicious and reasonably priced, but the wait was a little long but it was busy. Also, when we went they didn't take card and only took checks and cash as they're credit card machine was out of order. The only other thing was they sat my 60 year old mother and I on the top of the pulpit which I wish they would have sat us on floor level as I didn't want my mom to have to go up and down the stairs. My mom actually tripped going down the stairs on our way out which gave me a little scare. Not necessarily their fault, just moving forward we will request the ground floor. read more

Always a pleasure to come here. Food is delicious, cooked to perfection and portioned well. You get a choice of one meat/entrée and 3 sides, and the entrée options cycle out and change daily to keep the options fresh. Okra and creamed corn are my favorite sides here, they're always done right. The sweet teas always perfect too. The service is good, not super speedy or anything but everything comes in a timely manner and the staff is very friendly :) My one suggestion would be to bring a coat, especially if there's only one or two of you going and you get put along the walls to eat, because in my experience they keep it VERY cool inside and the vents along the wall might blow up your back if you're in the back wall tables right on top of them. But this place is always worth the trip :) read more

Since moving to the city I haven't had much meat and three southern meals, and to be honest I miss it big time. I was in LaGrange visiting family and they took me here, and I'm sure glad they did! Taste of Lemon is inside of an old church. Seriously such a neat building! I love the ambiance here and highly recommend coming to see this spot. The server was great. When I asked his recommendation for the meat option he said "well it's all good to me, since my mama is the cook and has been for 20 years!" We all thought this was the appropriate answer. I chose the beef roast as my meat, the three sides were field peas, fried okra, and Mac n cheese. They came out fairly quickly. The roast was very good, nice and moist and served over a bed of rice. Fried okra was tasty but seemed a little old and a smaller portion than the rest of the items. The field peas were PERFECT, I loved them. Great seasoning. The mac n cheese was really really good. Super cheesy and the noodles weren't soggy (my least favorite). This meal was so good and very filling, but the portions weren't over the top huge. Nothing was hyper salty or buttery, everything was tastefully done. My granny is the best southern cook I know, and this meal is knocking on her door as competition for great southern meal. read more

Went to LaGrange for work and asked around for a local recommendation and we were told to go here. Very cool concept as the restaurant is in an old church. It's only open for lunch and they were super busy! The menu is fairly simple and all Southern. You pick one out of six or so choices of protein and 3 sides or 2 with a dessert. Pretty fair price for $10. Very little decor, simple seating arrangements and nonchalant service. The food was okay. My chicken was super rubbery and it was actually my first time having that type of texture with chicken. I was really disappointed. We visited at lunch yesterday. This was the first time we had gone as we are not locals. The location was chosen based on reviews and based on menu etc. we felt this would be a covid-conscious dining establishment. We are uncertain if the owner was in or not, but the following was observed: Staff member who offers to refresh your beverace- wears mask dangling from one ear the entire time. While she did correct briefly when this was brought to her attention, it was noted she immediately went back to her prior habits after leaving our table. Staff who waited our table with food- always wore mask over nose and mouth- Great job. Staff visible in kitchen/prep area- gentleman never wore mask the entire time. read more

After virtuously ordering the veggie plate, I wanted to have dessert (either cobbler or buttermilk pie) but the rest of my table wasn't having it so I had to linger on my memories of the macaroni and cheese (old school, with cheddar). They offer different meats to go with the vegetables but I always just get the vegetable plate. The vegetable plate here is too die for! I think the field peas and rutabaga was my absolutely favorite. I'm a Georgia boy, and we Georgia's absolutely love our southern vegetable plates, and Taste of Lemon does it quite well. I think their Macaroni and Cheese could use a little more seasoning or perhaps even a sharper cheddar to give it that bite, as I think the chef uses mild cheddar cheese. The yams are also a good additional to any meal. The venue is a quite, old church building and the owner is a 90 year-old owner of an antique store right next door. It's a good place for lunch and is in walking distance to many spots in downtown LaGrange. If you are a northerner visiting LaGrange, it's a good stop for a traditional, Southern lunch. The waiters and staff are all just as a sweet as the sweet tea there. I really like it. read more

Wonderful country cooking! My kids typically order chicken nuggets or hot dogs so we were a little worried if they would like anything on the menu....
