The ambiance leaves a lot to be desired, but who goes there for the ambiance? I want smiling faces, good meat, well prepared vegetables and sugary sweet desserts. Driving through from Louisiana we wanted real food not fast food and we got a 5 Star homemade meal! What a little hidden gem in the back of an Exxon gas station. Miss Shirley and her grand daughter were very nice and attentive. Yes the building is old but it was very clean and furnishings were in very good condition. For lunch you pick a meat choice and 2 sides, or whatever you want that will fit on your plate, plus selection of breads. Our meal was so very good, not dried out, not overcooked, not over seasoned just delicious. And Miss Shirley insisted we have a piece of her homemade cake. It was a wonderful real homemade dessert, homemade icing with hand chopped pecans. We now have a favorite place to stop on our 12 hour drive. Looking forward to our next stop to visit with Miss Shirley! She shared with us that she's been in the restaurant business for over 40 years, her adult children continue to run her first restaurant that's been in existence for over 30 years. The food was good, but my country ham was salty. The bacon had good flavor, but was very fat. Overall, I was satisfied with the breakfast for diner food. This little restaurant is connected to a gas station. And it is owned by family. It's a small town so they also knew all of the other customers that came in. read more

One of the few hole in the wall blessings of a restaurant. I'm a journeyman worker and don't get many home cooked southern style meals very often. I stopped in here very hesitantly; but boy was I Surprised. Immediately greeted with 10/10 service and politeness, The food was unlike anything I've had in Georgia. Didn't flinch when I requested to order an off-menu breakfast. Super friendly and accommodating. Menu is a little limited but most places are having to work with some adjustments so this isn't a point against, merely an observation. Someone please let a previous reviewer that country ham is SALT cured. If it isn't salty, you're being lied to. Four stars because it is what it is but it is really good at being that. read more

My review isn't based on the food quality because I didn't get to eat here. This is based completely on the fact that Shirley needs to edit her hours on YELP. We chose this place for our family on Sunday morning because it was the middle point for my nephew, who was coming from Fort Benning, and my son, who was coming from Atlanta. We also chose it because other members of our family were pulling their RV up from a Alabama and we knew parking could be an issue. Sounds like the perfect place for breakfast and the reviews were favorable. The issue was the hours on YELP are from 8am to 5pm on Sunday. That is wrong. Shirley doesn't open until 11am on Sundays. Having to re route 6 people to another breakfast location was trying. Please Shirley, do all of us a favor and edit your hours on this platform! read more

A friend and I took a little road trip from the Birmingham area and got hungry along the way so I pulled up my Yelp app to see what would be a good in the LeGrange area. We hit pay dirt with Shirley's!!! It's an all you can eat buffet style restaurant. Don't be fooled when the lady in your phone says, "you've arrived" and you're in the parking lot of a truck stop! Pull on around and go in! Shirley is the sweetest thing ever!!! It's always fun to meet the person who's name is on the building. Sweet lady! Fabulous food!!! I had some fried tilapia, Mac and cheese, mashed potatoes, limas, black-eyes peas, biscuits oh and some of the best banana pudding I've ever had! It was perfect! As a matter of fact everything was perfect, and all homemade! My friend raved about the ribs and fried chicken! Shirley and her staff were such a delight! We hope to visit them again! We were going to stop here and grab a bite but the woman inside started beating on the window and was yelling because I let my dogs out to relieve themselves (only pee, no poo) in the grassy area surrounding the gas station and restaurant. I really wish I could give it a better rating, the servers were very polite. We were there for breakfast at 8 AM on a Friday. There were no biscuits, so half the menu was unavailable. And there was no orange juice or any other juice. The kids were thrilled with soda for breakfast :( Looks like they are running this restaurant on a shoestring right now, which is really a shame because I'd much rather give the business to a local restaurant that a chain . In town visiting the water park. Shirley's was a nice find. Mac & cheese was 8 yr old approved. Fried chicken was teen approved. I liked the fried pork chops & greens. My husband liked the other fresh veggies and cherry cobbler. Close to park too! read more
