    This was my first time dining at a Guatemalan restaurant, and it was such a treat! I've always wanted to try something new, and this experience didn't disappoint. The ambiance was lovely--calm and inviting, especially in the early afternoon when it wasn't too crowded. We ordered the churrasco-style steak with asparagus, and it was absolutely delicious. I'm already looking forward to coming back to try another dish. One thing to note is that parking can be a challenge since it's in the heart of Chicago, especially if street parking is full. But overall, it's well worth the visit!

    Food was amazing. They gave me a great recommendation on a dish that. Very attentive and welcoming.

    I haven't ate at a Central American restaurant in so long, I'm glad this was a recommendation I followed through on! I indulged when I went: Had the Atole de Elote, while I'm use to an atole being a bit more thick, this consistency was thin but PERFECT in flavor! It was almost like a nicer creamy drink! I then had to follow this with the Tamales de Elote, my goodness were they great! They felt a bit more soft than I'm use to, but it brought out this creamy texture that I really enjoyed. The crema on top was the perfect paring. I then was a bit too full for the popusas, but I still ate. I thought they were good but a bit thicker than I'm use to (don't mean to compare my moms cooking but that's my only point of reference hehe). Pupusas de Loroco y Queso, Chicharrón, y la mexicana were good but I felt they needed a bit more flavor. Can't go wait to go back and try the ox tail dish, my sister recommended it to me! We took a huge group and they were great!

    Bryanna's Restaurant is a must-visit for palettes curious about Guatemalan and Salvadoran cuisine -- it is fancy enough for date night but affordable enough for weekday take out. For Guatemalan Independence Day, my partner who is Chapín, and I decided to support local Guatemalan owned businesses, and BryAnna's came up in a Google search. We saw great reviews and decided to stop by in-person for dinner. The restaurant is immaculately clean and festive with thoughtful cultural touches! We loved the authenticity and the ability to order in English or Spanish. For around 20 minutes, we were the only patrons, but others came in and out to dine. We ordered a mojito and a modelo along with the most delicious homemade food we've had in a while -- Pepián de pollo, platanos con mole, and two chicken and cheese pupusas to share. My drink had little to no alcohol in it and I was disappointed, but the food was phenomenal and comforting. The chicken was tender, the pupusa crisp and filled, and the platanos fried perfectly. I highly recommend and will be returning and hopefully using their party room for a small gathering soon!

    We wanted to try something new and read good reviews about this place so we went for moms bday it's a cute place with street parking. We got free nachos with salsa and beans and decided to order a sampler plate that was enough for the 4 of us and then some it was a mix of varieties but we wished it had some kind of meat on there like piece of pork or sausage, the price was super good at 48 and we ordered drinks and some nachos for a total of 100, not bad at all I wish that they had some spice to the food it was good just lacking a little something , we had a great time and didn't wait long for our food

    I love BryAnnas. My family and I enjoy the space and friendly staff. Their menu is a special menu with pupusas from El Salvador and plenty of Guatemalan dishes. I've never had a bad experience and I am always looking forward to returning for yummy food from America.

    This is still a great food spot! They've decorated a bit since we were last dined in (carry out for parties has been our thing). Their party room looks lovely. We didn't drink, but they have a great sounding selection of drinks.

    We ordered the BryAnna's combo, which was a huge platter for 4-5 people. We really enjoyed it. It includes: Five Shredded Beef Dobladas, Five Pupusas, a Choice of Topping: Mixto or Veggie; Five Taquitos of your Choice: Chicken, Beef or Potato; Five Pastelitos filled with Pork and Vegetables, served with Fried Cassava and Curtido Salad. We ordered it as mixed to try to get some vegetables. Otherwise? It ends up being very meet oriented. The Curtido salad is similar to cold slow without mayo. It also comes with there's delicious salsas (one green, two different reds).

    I was meeting a friend for lunch in Chicago and where to go because Chicago has endless good restaurants so I felt that I should try some cuisine from another country. I wanted to avoid the trendy/hip places and find a neighborhood gem so a Salvadoran/Guatemala restaurant would be perfect. The place is on a coroner with neighborhood parking, we parked at the front door because the parking gods were shining on us. The place was nice looking with a cool bar and black tables and chairs with white table clothes. The walls have nice colors which went well with the wood bar and floors to round out the place. The menu has breakfast, lunch and dinner options which some are similar to Mexican with burritos etc. I wanted more of a sample of an ethnic South American dish because I can have Mexican items anywhere. I opted for the churrasco guatemalteco which is an 8oz Rib eye, Longaniza, grilled green onion, guacamole, fried black beans, rice and a salad. Just like a Mexican restaurant they start you with chips and salsa, the chips were house made and good. The salsas were one green and one red, the green was hot and tasty while the red was kind of bland and weak. The salsas were more like sauces with no chunks of anything and I used the green as hot sauce for my meal. The plate looked amazing with just a little of a few items for a nice variety of flavors. The Rib eye was thin cut and juicy/tasty. The Longaniza a sausage was amazing, like egg roll crashed into sausage with veggies and meat loosely packed, juicy and very tasty which was my favorite. The guacamole was good along with the rice and fried black beans. You get warm corn tortillas with the dinner which I made Steak, Guac, and bean tacos with some of the plate. The salad was very different and like a chilled potato salad with cubed potatoes, carrots, peas and beans which worked well. Overall I really liked the whole dinner plate and it was very good, what a great pick for something different and new. I'm sad that it's so far away because I would try more of the menu, yah I'm a fan.

    What a pleasant environment BryAnna's is to walk into. Situated right on a corner with plenty of on-street parking nearby and a clean, well maintained, full-of-orgullo ("pride" en Español) appearance from the outside, you get a similar feeling once you walk inside. The dining room is well-lit, spacious, very clean with nice Guatemalan art and styling, and plenty of seating. Similar to so many other family-style restaurants, there's a little bar in the corner perhaps for guests waiting to be seated on a busier night. It is a BYOB establishment and I do not seem to recall a corkage or glass fee, and service regarding our brought-in beverage was pleasant and considerate. The menu is mostly Guatemalan but has Mexican offerings and no Salvadorean offerings except pupusas despite the claim on the marquee outside and inside the menu that it is a Guatemalan AND Salvadorean place. Service here was prompt, polite, friendly, and efficient. Food was prepared fresh and brought out quickly. For starters, a basket of fresh-made tortilla chips is brought out with green and red salsas. Just as an FYI, the red salsa is a slightly more sweet tomato salsa and not at all hot. Salvadorans and Guatemalans typically serve a more mild red salsa for things like pupusas and otherwise. They were tasty and light, but don't load up too much because the entrees are of ample sized and come with plenty of starches and more tortillas. For appetizers, my friends ordered a Guatemalan tamal which seems slightly uninspired and while they enjoyed it they were not incredibly enthusiastic about it. Because of my personal connections to El Salvador, I of course ordered a pupusa filled with queso blanco and loroco (a Salvadorean/Guatemalan herb) -- my favorite type of pupusa. Unfortunately, I was disappointed by the pupusa because the masa (flour) used for it was flavorless as was the loroco. The cheese was a nice cheese and had the appropriate taste for what I expected. The pupusas was huge by pupusas standards but it was wet and could have used a little more time on the flat grill. The curtido (cabbage, carrots, spices, vinegar slaw) ,eaten with the pupusas, was good. For entrees, two of us ordered hilachas, shredded beef with potatoes simmered in Guatemalan creole sauce served with rice, and it was as expected. A bit more soupy than stew, it had a nice, mild flavor and was absolutely not salty so that was good. It could have used a little more meat than a little more potato but that was not a big deal. Our third dining partner had Pepian, a Mayan chicken stew with potatoes, green beans and imported guatemalan spices with a side of rice and tortillas, and seemed to be happy with it. Both entrees looked quite similar from the outside as you'll note in the photos. I should have ordered atol de elote (non-alcoholic corn drink) to drink, but passed on it because we BYOB'd. For dessert, we had delicious Guatemalan coffee which had a little bit of cinnamon taste to it. We also had rellenitos, moist, fried corn dough balls filled one with sweet frijoles and the other with sweet cream, and they were really good and, as expected, not too sweet. Our other dessert was uninspired and unattractive and tasted a little greasy. I so badly wanted to give bryanna's a better review but just couldn't. I'd be willing to come back and try some other things and maybe be able to update this review.

This tasted like standard provolone cheese and it was melted in a bowl. It was tasty, and unfortunately they probably can't get the Argentinian version of the cheese they would need to do it correctly. Our friends got the beef brochette with asparagus and the outside skirt steak and both were fabulous. Well seasoned and grilled and tender. My husband and I got the 2 pound stuffed fillet! It supposedly had ham in the filling but I couldn't taste it or see it anywhere. Unfortunately it had a really strongly flavored sauce along with the portobello mushrooms. We expected something with fewer herbs, which kind of overpowered the beef. It's a shame because the way they described it on the menu is not what came out. It wasn't bad. It just wasn't what we were expecting and unfortunately, the beef flavor was hard to discern because of all of the herbs in the dark brown sauce. We brought our own wine and they didn't even have a corkage fee, which was amazing! We saw other plates go by with copious amounts of tomatoes and onions on salads and the filet mignon platter, it seemed like it was three or four pieces of fillet it had to be nearly a pound for one serving. The prices are pretty steep for the beef and they do charge $10 for sharing, however it might be worth just getting one of the larger plates and spending the 10 bucks to share as opposed to getting an entrée each and taking home lots of food which we did.

We split a chicken empanada to start which was really good, especially with the chimichurri sauce. For mains, we split the parillada para dos - a large meat platter meant for two. It was came with a little house salad and was a super good deal with all the meat they gave you (we ended up with lunch the next day, too!) The best part of the dish was the short ribs. Super soft and sort of fatty tasting, but not in a gross way, in a really yummy way. We also really liked the chorizo sausage. The flap tastes good, but was a little tougher than the other meat. The beef sweetbread and blood sausage were different, a little bit of an odd texture, but still good.
