We have ordered to go from this location a few times and it is always fast, piping hot and absolutely delicious. This last time I added cream cheese to mine and that was the BEST move I could have made. It was the cheesiest and so messy and gooey. It was awesome. I will do that every time from now on. I recently moved into a neighborhood close by and I've wanted to find a good Philly cheesesteaks place. Today I tried Taste of Philly for the first time. The restaurant has an old school feel to it and is very cleaned and maintained. They have an abundance of sandwich options that all look delicious. I got the regular Philly cheesesteak and it was AMAZING! Good portion size for price, well cooked, right amount of steak to cheese and bread proportion, and very flavorful without being greasy. The staff was super friendly and quick with the order as I watched them cook everything for my sandwich. I may be slightly jaded having lived in Philly for many years, but there is nothing at this location that deserves writing home about. Bread was soft and good as it should be, meat was thin chopped steak'um style with no flavor, onions were tasteless and cheese was almost missing. If I may offer suggestion, cheese is part of the product name so make sure there is plenty and basic salt/pepper can go a long way to adding some flavor. Dining area felt flat with a non-descript mural on one wall and one in the drawings stages on the other wall. Just get some pictures of the city, team pennants and make it actually feel like a Philly joint. Also, give the place a good cleaning and a little love. But most of all, make the food good as currently from my visit, the "Cheesesteak" is lacking cheese and flavor. I was craving a cheesesteak and found this place near me through Yelp. They have a fairly large menu of different cheesesteaks, hoagies, sandwiches, and salads. I was a little disappointed that there weren't any French fries on there as well, kinda surprising. Staff was friendly and food took a little less than 10 minutes. I have to admit I wasn't expecting much from a fast food Philly cheese steak place. It is definitely a no frills type spot. A few tables and chairs, counter service and smells of meat and onions fill the air. They have a variety of cheese steaks to choose from, but on my first go in I went original - steak, onions and cheese on a roll. I didn't eat it there. I actually took it home - which is about a 10m drive. I have to say, I was pleasantly surprised at how well the bread held up. It wasn't soggy at all and had the perfect amount of chewiness to it! I loved the meat - it was seasoned perfectly and well chopped. The onions were caramelized nicely and the cheese was gooey (although I will get extra next time). I love this place. It's a no frills, rough around the edges sandwich shop. I expected better decor for a chain restaurant, but I don't go for the ambiance, its about the sandwich. I have eaten here many times, and tried the regular philly, green chili philly (my favorite), and the philly cheese steak salad. The sandwiches are very good for a chain restaurant. The steak is seasoned and cooked well, the cheese Is smooth and gooey, and the bread is never soggy (even when I get it delivered.) The philly salad comes in small or large sizes, with the same delicious steak, along with iceberg lettuce, tomato, cucumber, and red onion. The large size I can rarely finish, but its good cold the next day. They also carry a variety of salads and sandwiches of the non cheese steak variety. I would recommend this place to anyone looking to have a philly, a birch beer, and a tasty cake, in a sandwich shop that smells strongly of meat and onions. Nice and seared meat with a little crisp to the edges and the amount they put onto the sandwich is a lot compared to most places. I wish they offered fries with it but alas they do not. I had gone to the Taste of Philly on Hampden some time ago (3 to 5 years ago can't remember). So when a coworker of mine suggest I try one that was closer than Hampden I went to the one on Buckley. I ordered this Friday 10/13/2025 online to pick up after work around 6:15 pm. When I got there at 6:25 pm I had to wait an additional 10 minutes more because obviously my fries were not ready. Leaving at 6:35 pm with all my food since I was fasting for the day I was plenty hungry for some good East coast Philly Cheessteak Sandwich, fries and a side of onions with a brick brownie. When I got home and settled down to eat, half of the sandwich was thrown away, there was more bread then meat and the steak wasn't good quality like (J.M.) The fries were too soft but the Onion Rings were spot on and the Brick Brownie was excellent. The thing is I don't want to go somewhere just for the brownies and onion rings. You can choose what kind of cheese you want and add extra veggies if you'd like. They aren't as fast as your typical fast food place but that's because everything is cooked to order so if your in a time crunch, call your order in and it'll be ready to pickup when you get there. I was surprised to see a three star rating for Taste of Philly as I feel that the quality of their food is above average and warrants around a 3.75 overall. There are multiple location across the state so I'm guessing the quality may not necessarily be consistent across the board. The atmosphere is nothing spectacular however it works just fine for a quick lunch run. The staff is always friendly and the service is fairly quick. The menu is pretty much what you would expect for a Philly shop and features all the classic sandwiches as well as a couple of their specials. I'm generally somewhat of a 'purist' when it comes to Philly's with the exception of the cheese wiz so I haven't made it very far into the menu however I have always been very happy with the classic with onions, peppers, and provolone cheese. My biggest complaint is their lack of fried food. I try not to eat a ton however when I make a stop at a restaurant like this I generally expect there to be some selection of fried sides, this isn't the case here. So if you're looking for a decent place to grab a fresh philly cheese steak I think Taste of Philly is a good option. read more
