I happened across the new Taste Tea on Waialae Ave today. While technically in the Kaimuki Shopping Center, the entrance is on Waialae near the back door of the Jharra store. They are going through their soft open, and a lot of the inside looks unfinished. The floors are straight concrete with a few scattered tables along the back wall. To be honest it looks like a pop-up restaurant. I hope they clean it up more. They seem to have all the regular teas they have at the other location on Kapiolani, as well as food items. Tea quality is the same as Kapiolani. I'll be back in a few weeks when they've settled in a bit more and it's not completely over run with screaming high schoolers. read more

Visited the shop twice to get snow ice. Huge menu displaying all the different flavors of snow ice. Girl behind the counter did not know how to make it. Was trying to call her boss to find out if some one could come and make it. We left. Second visit....some girl and she still didn't know how to make it two weeks later. I love taste tea so much. Their boba is so delicious and their tea is really good. Taste tea is a good place to go to after school and their truck is good for parties. I would recommend making taste tea a little bit different from other tea places in Oahu by making a split cup. Like a large, but it's split in half so you can get two flavors with different toppings. That would be so awesome!! Also, putting like, cotton candy on top would be so cute and delicious too. read more

Literally go here once a week at least. Taste tea is definitely the best boba place on the island. Their shave ice is great but they don't always have all the flavors. That and the fact that the parking is on the other side of the building are the only downsides. Really can't complain about anything. Must try the ice cream milk tea, it's amazing. read more

My go to boba spot. Everything I've tried from here is delicious and everyone is really nice. The fruity pebbles shake is soooo delicious. It's difficult for me to pass up every time I pass by this place. I moved here from San Francisco about 2 years ago and this has been one of my go to spots since I've discovered it. I went into Taste Tea in Kaimuki today, with a re-useable metal cup and straw that I bought specifically to have Boba Tea without all the plastic waste. When I handed the cashier my cup, she informed me that she could not serve the drink in my cup. I asked her why not, and she said it was company policy. If company policy is to only serve drinks in single-use plastic cups - adding to the horrific amount of plastic waste produced world wide every day - then it's MY policy to never spend money at Taste Tea again. read more

Went to this location to get my taste tea fix and I won't be back. Had no flavor whatsoever!!!! Waste of $15 if you ask me girl seemed to be in her own world and couldn't be bothered to listen to our order. Threw it out after drinking a 1/3 hate to waste but it was awful. read more

My 16 yrs old son frequent this place and many of his friends. He's a student at St. Louis H.S. On Monday, May 15, 2017 before getting picked up by his dad, he was drinking a boba drink, while walking, half way to drinking, he tasted something funny so he spat it out on the sidewalk grass (so he didn't see what it was). On their way home, at the end of drinking, he again tasted the same funny taste. This time, he pulled out the boba, what he thought was a boba, and pulled out a roach instead. Inside, the sealed cup, he said, he could see a few roach legs floating. Yikes! Father and son turned around and drove back to Taste Tea and told the workers what had happened. They were mortified and apologized and gave my son a refund for his drink. My husband spoke to Yen, the owner of Taste Tea that evening and he seemed concerned and apologetic, but offered no remedy to what had happened. The next day, I texted him to update him on my son's condition that although he did not get sick, The Department of Health and the public should be aware of what had happened. I also had mentioned to him that, that area seems to be having roach infestation problem as St. Louis Drive Inn is currently shut down by the Department of Health. Mr. Yen, did not reply to my text. I'm disappointed that he did not reply and did not offer any solution on how to fix the incident. The Department of Health has been contacted regarding the incident. Attached are some photos of the crawly creature. My son is sure that he had consumed a part/partial or even a whole roach and is so appalled and disgusted! Taste Tea has to be very vigilant and should be very vigilant in trying to keep their establishment clean at all times as the area is dealing with roach infestation problem. It would be horrific if someone fall ill, worse a child, because of this. An establishment bearing a "green placard" should be a safe place to purchase food and not have to worry about finding a roach in their mouth. I think majority of their customers are students from St. Louis HS and Sacred Hearts and these are kids so please be aware of this place until the problem is resolve. read more

My first time here at this newer location, lots of free parking behind by Longs/ Times, fast friendly service, good price (check in for 20% discount), very tasty tea indeed, and lots of boba --- more than the other tea places. Will definitely be back again. read more

Taste Tea has got to be one of my favorite locations on Oahu for a drink or snack. The menu offers an assortment of tea drinks with different add ins for additional costs, snow ice, and small pastries. This place is my go to for boba and the service is incredibly fast. Highly recommend! read more

There are two things that bug me about buying boba tea: 1) Walking out spending more than $5 bucks 2) Having so much ice after you've drank the tea and the boba is stuck and frozen YAY! This doesn't happen here! I bought a large coffee/tea and had little ice and lotsa boba! And walked out spending less than $5 bucks! I have always loved Taste Tea, so when I found out that they would be down the street from my school I was extremely stoked! However, this morning I jogged to Taste Tea down Waialae Ave at 7:15 in the morning and as I approached the entrance, the owner or a worker came out the front door. I asked him if it was open. He said no it wasn't, it opens at 11. I thanked him and turned to jog away, but before I could do that he asked me if he could whip me up something real quick. I told him that would be great! He then said we are closed and slammed the door in my face!! He was extremely rude and unprofessional. The other workers might be as rude or really nice, but I will never find out. read more

Love the Kaimuki location! The store is clean and friendly staff! I ordered 3 drinks and they really take the time to make sure your order is perfect. They packaged the drinks in a bag for me for easy carry. Definitely will be visiting more often. Double check their store hours. read more

Me and my girlfriend visited here and wanted to try the taro snow dessert. The cashier told us "sorry, we're out of mochi balls today." A few seconds later, they replied with "I can make it, just give me 15 minutes." So, they're stocked with items but aren't preparing them? Furthermore, the taro chunks were sour and didn't go well with the sweetness of the dessert. Don't get me wrong I love sour poi, but the combination wasn't right. Not sure how well these employees are trained, the professionalism was just not there. I could have gotten better attitude from a vending machine. read more

I am very upset. I have been a loyal customer of Taste Tea for many years, but this week I was let down. Both locations i frequent, Kaimuki and Ala Moana, have the same store hours: 11am-9pm. Two days ago I arrived at the Kaimuki storefront at 8:20pm and was greeted with locked doors and darkness inside. No problem, I thought, I'll just go to the Ala Moana location. To my dismay, i found the same issue. I chose to brush it off that day because I assumed it was a special occasion i was unaware of. Yesterday, I drove passed the Kaimuki store at 8:15pm and they were open. I rejoiced. Today, I decided to try again at 8:30pm. I was shocked and horrified to find that the store was closed. To make sure I hadn't lost my mind, I carefully inspected the store hours posted on the window. Both the original and the updated Covid hours supposedly go past 9pm. Trying to prevent a similar situation to two days ago, I called the Ala Moana location to see if they were open. No answer. I am deeply upset and confused because I truly do not understand why they are closing early when their (new?) hours are not posted anywhere. read more

customer service was horrendous today. I went in and ai had my two children with me. We were the first people in line and one of my kids couldn't decide what they wanted. The young guy at the counter said "would you move to the side so I can take her order?" He was talking about the lady who came after I did and who was standing in line BEHIND me. I was shocked and irritated. That was just rude. Plus, I was ready to order and this employee was so rude. Apparently, the lady in back of me had pre-ordered a couple drinks and just needed to pay for it. REALLY? that couldn't wait another minute??? I just thought it was rude to push me aside just so the other customer can get her pre-ordered drinks. The employee didn't even apologize. It would have been better if he asked instead of telling me. Totally inacceptable. I used like this place a lot, but after this incident, I think I'll stay away for awhile. read more

I loveeeeeee Taste Tea! I go here almost once a week and order the same thing - Honeydew Milk Tea, every time I order this it comes out perfectly. I've tried many different tea places and Taste Tea is still my favorite. Their boba is always nice and chewy with good flavor and I also love their lychee jelly. My boyfriend loves to try all of their different flavors of tea and milk tea and enjoys all the different flavors and the variety. One thing I think could be improved is their decor, I find many other tea places to be very cute and decorated to look very hipster. I think this is something Taste Tea could improve on. Whenever I am craving boba, which is all the time, I always go to Taste Tea in Kaimuki. Very convenient for me and is hardly ever crowded. A good amount of seating and their drinks are made quickly which I like. I always get the Taiwan wintermelon tea latte with molten boba or molten tapioca milk with molten boba. When going to Taste Tea, always sample your drink because it might not be made like other Taste Teas around the island. Taste Tea drinks are affordable and aren't extremely pricey like other boba places. Their snow ice is a good price for how big it is. It's about $5.50 and I normally can't finish one on my own. The snow ice isn't like your typical shaved ice. It is softer and it melts right in the mouth. They also put a generous amount of toppings on it. Not all the Taste Teas on the island have the snow ice available, but the Kaimuki one does and I definitely recommend it. read more

Was a bit hard to find drove around the parking lot twice trying to find it. Finally had to ask someone and was directed to the front of the building . I didn't realize there was anything on the front of the building. Good size sitting area even though we didn't plan to stay. There was no crowd so order right away and drinks were made immediately, so no wait. That was awesome. Ordered a blended taro tea with large boba and a cafe latte, Both Drinks were tasty. I usually hit the Taste Tea up on Kapiolani and will say all around it's a better place from atmosphere to parking to quality of the drinks but still this location hits the spot when you are in the area, I'm glad to see them expanding, and it's still pretty damn good; it's just not as good as the Kapiolani location. They would have really been better off opening somewhere else on Waialaie that has better parking and a storefront. Also avoid on the weekends, the line is insane to the point you could drive to their Kapiolani location, order, enjoy it, and drive back and still would get faster. read more
