It may be a bit difficult to find this location for those that are not familiar with the Kaimuki area. You can find parking on the side street near St. Patrick School, or park in the parking lot in the back, where Times, Longs, Cookie Corner, etc. is. The entrance for Taste Tea is located on Waialae Avenue. I love Taste Tea's boba!! They always give a generous amount of tasty boba, not mattering the location. When I drink my teas, I like it when I still have boba towards the end of my drink. Who likes drinking milk tea with no boba? :P I like that Taste Tea gives enough boba, allowing you to continuously sip on your tea without having to worry if you'll run out or not at the end. My favorite drinks are the milk tea and peach black tea. For the most part, their drinks are pretty consistent. You choose your sweetness level, and you can also sample it and adjust it according to your taste. I like Taste Tea's milk tea the best because it's not too milky. I like it when my milk tea has just the right amount of black tea. At this location only, they offer snow ice. They have their signature creations, or you can customize your own if you desire to. Also at this location only, they have a student special. Buy one, get one 50% off, Mon-Fri (after 7pm), and Sat-Sun (all day). At this location and also at Kapiolani, they have an Instagram happy hour repost special. Buy 1 get 1 free, Mon-Thurs (5-8pm). This is my daughter's favorite place to get boba tea, and while I am not a fan of those tapioca boba balls, they have a variety of teas which you can order with or without them. It's nice they have a place to sit in there where you can sip your tea and chat with a friend, as I did recently. You can select different degrees of sweetness for your drink. I think I ordered mine with fifty percent the last time, and it was just fine. One thing I wish was that there were more non-alcoholic places like this in town and that they would stay open later than 9pm. No wonder why I felt sick everytime I had their drink. BE AWARE!! Their so called "non dairy creamer" they label is just coffee mate. Coffee creamer. In other words purely processed! Congratulations, you are drinking 16 or 20 fl. ounce of pure coffee creamer. I was shocked but not surprised this is how marketing goes by misleading and making it sound good to attract consumers. This is the only boba place me and my fiancé tried during our vacation in hawaii! We are from boston and we were soooo surprised at the fact that we could sample our drink to make sure the sweetness level is where we would like it to be!!! (Amazing friendly staff too!) I really enjoy the blended drinks here and their boba is always nice and chewy and not overcooked or old. My mom usually always gets a blended lilikoi black tea. I love the blended almond milk tea (reminds me of almond jello dessert). We get ours half sweet with boba and are regulars at the Waialae location. Super disappointed in this place. They have a special on Saturday - Sunday that gives 50% off the second tea bought when you buy one. However the sign says you need a school ID However some of our kids do not have school ID's since their school doesn't give them out. The kids are 10-12. They are all dressed in their basketball uniforms. If they are not students, then what are they? Are they not going to school? You would think common sense would supersede a policy. It's pretty disappointing that the two workers here and their supervisor wouldn't honor a special. But now we know that the special isn't really to honor kids. Seriously? I came for the $1 drinks during grand opening. It was the most amazing experience because you can't get it at that price anymore. It happened over that grand opening weekend. So nice of them. My experience was satisfied. Got my milk tea and tasted great. Even with all that crowd and craziness, they mixed up some good milk tea. Love their matcha jelly and pudding toppings. Just visited there and it was interesting. I wanted to try it since I had to wait for my food at Fairwood. I walked down from Fairwood and there was no one in the store but several workers. I walked in, dead silence and no one said anything. It's like back in high school, when you walk into a room and the people in there don't want you there. But I wanted to try so I stayed. I tried to figure out what board to read first and what combinations I could get. I approached the counter and the sales associate helped me figure out what I wanted. I ended up getting a lychee tea with lychee jello. I like it but it has a bite to it. I am still drinking and getting used to it. It's growing on me. Personally, if there is no customers in there and there are a lot of workers, try to make that one person who enters feel welcome, not awkward. A little more customer service would have been nice. Convienent location in the Kaimuki Shopping Center! Heads up that the entrance is actually on the outside (by the street) rather than on the inside in the parking lot. I was walking back and forth from Times to the Hibiscus trying to figure out how to find the place lol. Customer service was good - the worker was patient with me and able to take my order even tho I could barely talk and sounded like a man from my cold lol :) Drink tasted as good as it normally does from the Ala Moana location. Design of the place looks a little odd because the floors look unfinished and are still concrete. Also, It's not that big of a issue but for some reason the shop looks too dim/dark. This taste tea is smaller than the other locations with very little staff. I believe when I went in on a Tuesday lunch time there was one person working. My kid loves these drinks so we stopped by on our way to Fairwood since we were in the area. Parking is in the structure but entrance is on Waialae. Strange, but not a deal-breaker. Having read the reviews, I did not go in expecting to be treated like a queen, as we normally just order and go from these types of places. The staff are not rude, just...kinda there. Like students wAiting to take ur order. We went on Sunday afternoon around 1pm so there were no school kids in line, but there definitely were patrons. My kid ordered a small classic milk tea $3.75 with large tapioca (extra $.50) and I ordered a small honeydew. Both at % sweetness. I usually ask for 50%. They offer to let you taste it before completing it as well. My daughter tasted it before hand whereas I didn't. We both enjoyed ours and it did not taste too sweet like some other places. I would've liked a stronger honeydew taste, but it was acceptable. They also serve other sweets in their showcase. My kid wanted tiramisu and I eyed the fat brownie, but since desserts were given up this year, we left with our drinks. All in all, we would return. You're not buying a car so I'm not sure what salesmanship other patrons are looking for. I didn't feel pressured to order and took my time reading the extensive menu. Went back today, 5:30pm on 1/04/17 and was still not real impressed. Got the blended peach with black tea and large boba. My server/cashier had a poor, snotty attitude and was sooo not helpful. My total for the drink came out to $4.98. But they don't take card for under $5 and would not or could figure out how to add $.02 to the transaction to round up to $5 so I added coconut jelly for a $5.45 total. I checked and still no wifi password posted but there is now a sticker saying they have wifi. I wasn't up to dealing with the snotty attitude again, so I just took my drink and went back to the bus stop. NOW I will say that I really really enjoyed my tea. I found the boba to be kind of watery in my opinion. The tapioca balls didn't really taste right to me either. I prefer the boba to be a little softer, but these ones just kind of tasted solid. If I could give no stars, I would. Terrible customer service from the skinny and nerdy Japanese boy. I had ordered just add-ons of azuki beans and tapioca with no problem the day before. He gave me a hard time and said they cannot do that. I said they helped me yesterday. He proceeded to ask me who helped me. I came here on their soft opening on 10/27/16. The storefront is facing Waialae Ave, which I thought was odd since you have to walk around the building after you park. There is lots of parking in the shopping center though, which is a good thing. There are maybe 6 or 7 tables inside and a few counter seats against the window, but all of them were already packed with students. The interior has a modern feel to it, but it was still very much unfinished. They only had pudding in their refrigerated glass case at the time, but all their drinks were available for purchase. Let me just describe my experience in the most non bias way possible. First, I walked in and was not greeted but was stared at in the eyes while looking at the menu. Then I ordered a Strawberry Taro blended tea with almond milk. A few problems here... 1) apparently they don't mix flavors. 2) they don't have any non-dairy milks. 3) they don't have thick straws. Instead I was recommended a Fruity Pebbles blended tea, which was okay. I've had better boba from places such as Mr. Tea. I'd say save yourself the $5 and just keep looking. read more

My daughter loves this place. I'm not a tea drinker. I had gotten her a gift card for Easter since she is in her teens and it wasn't loaded with the money I paid and put on it in store. I brought up the issue to the store manager and he was able to help me figure out what happened. They were just updating their systems and it didn't go through properly. Best place for boba on the island! Affordable drinks and friendly staff! They also make my drinks within 2 minutes (at most) of ordering even when they're busy. There's a huge parking lot in the back by Time's Supermarket which is really convenient as well. Their boba is always fresh and chewy and I love that they use actual fruit bits (rather than pre-made syrup) in their drinks.
