Called the Harford Rd location and the young lady was extremely nice and helpful. My hubby and I wanted to eat in and she referred us to this location. We went in and the lady behind the counter was not exactly too helpful. Kinda like we could have walked out and she would not have cared. Anyway, I chalk it up to she is having a bad day. This location has tables so you can dine in but you go up to The counter to place your order. We ordered to the red velvet pancakes platter and an egg and turkey sausage breakfast with a side of grits. They don't have coffee or hot tea. Bill came to a little over $20. My hubby was surprised when our food was ready as he was expecting plates but we were served out of styrofoam containers. This is where it goes downhill. He ordered eggs over easy with turkey sausage and grits. The eggs were scrambled. The turkey sausage were the little microwaveable links from the grocery store. I saw a young man who said he was one of the owners. Told him the issue with the egg and he promptly fixed it. Red velvet pancakes were bland. My over hard egg with cheese was good. My sausage patties were again out of the frozen food section. My home fries had the potential to be good but some of the potatoes were not cooked all the way. Given the talk about this place and all the breakfast competition, I was expecting real breakfast meats not the institutional meats I can buy from the Dollar Tree. Service and friendliness was subpar. You could hear the cooks dropping the F bomb in casual conversation. I could overlook the containers, the lack of condiments but the quality of their breakfast is something that I can not overlook. Their lunch/dinner menu looks good and maybe I will return to place a to go order for some of those items. The owners are young and are doing something they are passionate about. I am rooting for them. Hopefully they will take this feedback and strive to make this place better. Note: Ask for butter ahead of time so it can get to room temperature. We received almost frozen butter chips that I couldn't even use on my pancakes. They don't have salt pepper at the tables. You have to ask for packets. read more

I decided to try the fried chicken platter. Which comes with three wings over yellow rice. Nothing spectacular but good.And two sides collard greens and and mash potatoes. The greens were a little over seasoned. The mash potatoes were tasty. The tea was pretty good too. The young lady that waited on me was very pleasant. But there was another young lady helping with and taking orders that had a frown on her face the whole time I was there. That must have been the young lady that the other reviews where talking about. Where do I start? We ordered from here on a Saturday a few weeks ago. The woman at the counter was very nice and pleasant. Very good, customer service. The food was amazing! It was like somebody's old great auntie back in the kitchen cooking the food! Smothered center cut pork chop perfectly seasoned, mac and cheese was cheesy and baked to perfection, yellow rice was tasty, bbq ribs fell off the bone, candied yams tastes like Granmomma's, Hennessey salmon, stuffed (with crab) salmon... O. M. Geez. Everything was so delicious, our family could not wait to order the next weekend. So, the following Friday evening, not even gonna mention the 2 hours it took for us to receive our pick up order, but the pork chop was a greasy BLADE CUT, mostly bone, nasty mess, the mac and cheese THAT NEVER MADE IT'S WAY INTO AN OVEN was cakey. I cannot even fathom how mac and cheese can be made CAKEY. The ribs were dry. The wings were ok, I guess. So. This place is a hit or miss. The food is prepared inconsistently. There are obviously different cooks on different nights of the week. The question is, "do I want to take the chance again???" I'll update, if I do. I think third time's a charm. read more

The food was amazing, but the service was quite the opposite experience. We tried to order delivery via UberEats for a nice dinner at home. We ordered 4 items and were very excited to receive our food, especially after hearing such good things about this place from our friends. Imagine our surprise when our food finally got delivered (1 hour past the estimated delivery time) and we only received half of the order. The receipt stapled to the bag only listed half of the things we ordered so I'm not sure what happened there, since I was charged for all four items. If they ran out of the other items, we should've received a call from them to either get a substitute dish or a refund. We tried calling them multiple times to try to figure out where the other half of our order was, but no one ever picked up. So that whole experience was disappointing, to say at the very least. We're willing to give them another try given how the food itself was very good, but we will be ordering in person to ensure we get all the food we paid for. read more

For a soul food place in Baltimore, this place is pretty good. And I'm not knocking Baltimore at all, I just usually prefer my soul food in North Carolina or below lol. But I like Taste This, I've been here a few times. A lot of my friends rave about it - I can't say I'm crazy for it, but I've been here a few times and never been disappointed. They always give good portions and everything tastes great. There is usually a long wait for food, but I guess that's just part of the deal, since they are very high volume. Also, don't be like me - never get a salad from there. One day I was with a group who really wanted to eat here but I wanted fresh veggies so I got a greek salad. After reading a review by a Baltimore Sun staffer, I quickly went to Yelp to check out its reviews. Because of the many comments that mentioned a long wait and rudeness, I decided not to patronize this establishment. But lo and behold, the next morning I see one of the young proprietors/chefs on tv plugging the restaurant and decided to give them a try just to support a fledging business. Unfortunately, the reviewers got it right. The food was good but we waited 47 minutes from time of order to actually receiving the food. The young lady who took our order was dismissive, unfriendly and just plain rude for no reason. I really would like to see these young men win but some seasoned entrepreneur needs to step in and school them about the importance of customer service. Very disappointing, went there on a Sunday just to get 10 wings and fries to hold us over until dinner. Well left there with nothing...we placed the order and waited for an hour for the wings and fries. We noticed that customers were coming in after us ordering food and I must add large food orders and they were leaving before us. When we inquired about our order we were first ignored. Ok so we asked again what is going on with our number and was told the people coming in preordered and we told her we heard and watched them place their orders at the counter, she looked crazy and asked the cook a question and came back to say it would be ready in 5 minutes. We waited 8 minutes and asked again the cashier said they are cooking it now, without any explanation. By this time we were hungry and heated. However, this will be my 3rd time visiting (and giving my hard earned cash) to Taste This and me feeling less than welcome by their front end staff. I'm really big on customer service, and if I don't feel welcomed in your establishment, I will not feel inclined to return, even if the food is great. And it's sad that such a great establishment should have something as basic as customer service be a deterrent for guests such as myself, but guest services in the hospitality industry is just as important as the product itself. I went on Saturday and Sunday afternoon. On Saturday, I had the fried catfish, green and mac and it was really good. The fish was fresh and seasoned well, a bit salty but it balanced out the sides. On Saturday, It was a bit crowded but the staff was attentive and waited about 15 minutes. However, I called in my order on Sunday and they gave me a 20-25 minute time frame and it was ready when I arrived. I ordered the Shrimp basket and it was good, the fries were hand cut and everything was fresh and tasted "clean". Last night i ordered the," all new canton " it's basically a baked potato with shrimp, crabmeat, and Mac and cheese. The moment i opened the container all i saw was a heaping pile of Mac and cheese..... (ok) the issue was that it was very good. The cheese had almost a sour taste to it. So i peeled back the top two layers of Mac and cheese and there's literally TWO shrimp under. This is no exaggeration, 2! One with the tail shell still on, one without. Then there's a bland potato with lightly sprinkled crab meat scattered amongst the bottom of the cheese layer. I was highly disappointed, especially for the high price point. read more

I've made a few more trips to Taste on 25th. The wing platter was slamming. The chicken was well seasoned and I left off the rice (which is no longer salty :-)) ) since I had the mac & cheese. The place was busy but the counter staff handled it well. NOW the for the pièce de résistance .......the egg nog bread pudding!!!!! OMG Get down there and grab a slice before it's off the menu. Mediocre at best. I was really hoping to love this place which is the only reason that I'm giving 3 stars and not less. I had ordered an extra side and tried to pay for it, but the people behind the register said that if I wasn't charged via ordering online that they wouldn't charge me either. That was a plus, however the extra side was horrible. I ordered salmon as a main dish which was over cooked and very dry. The only good side out of three that I tried was the macaroni and cheese which was decent, but nothing to rave about. The other sides were either way too salty or over seasoned. I tried this place mid afternoon on a Saturday. I may try to visit again next time I am in the area to give it another shot, but it's more because I love soul food and don't want to have to drive an hour when I don't feel like cooking. This place is relatively close to me, so it will be a go-to if the next experience is better. However, if it isn't I won't try a third. So disappointing. read more

I get Taste This from Uber Eats at work and it is so good. I get the salmon with yams and cabbage. The sauce that they drizzle on top of the salmon is delicious and I always ask for more. The prices are fair and the food has been tasty every time I've ordered. I've never eaten there so I can't comment on service and atmosphere, but I highly recommend take out. read more
