By the time I arrived my food was ready. This is a true whole in the wall spot. There is no place to sit and eat. This is a true grab and go spot. The cashier provided me my food and everything smelled delicious. I raced back to eat. The shrimp and grits is very filling. While it doesn't look like a lot it definitely hits the spot. Big size shrimp with creamy Cajun delicious grits. Really good. My coworker got the buttery panckages so the grits, eggs and bacon. A ton of food for a good price. First time to Sugar Mama's, I've been wanting to try this place but didn't want to make the drive but today I did. I don't know what they put in that French toast bacon, egg & cheese but it was hella good! I took a bite, drove off only to make it about 3 blocks & had to pull the car over. Came here for breakfast. Sugar Mama's is an order online, pickup restaurant. There is no dine in option. I placed my order online, paid, and they gave me a pickup time. There is only street parking and it can get full quick, but there are side streets you can park on that are steps away. Upon entering, the ambiance was quiet with the smell of French toast, fried chicken and fried fish in the air, which was a good thing. I gave the pleasant young lady my order number and she gathered my order. We ordered the chicken wing breakfast platter with cheese egg and home fries; the French toast breakfast platter with egg (no cheese) and home fries, an order of grits, and a blue lemonade. My wait was not long. The waiting area in the restaurant is VERY small, so waiting in your car until your order time would be ideal. Our food was still warm when we got it home. The chicken wing platter was good: chicken fresh, crispy, not greasy; the home fries were seasoned well; the eggs were not my favorite, they were bland even with the cheese; the grits, although I don't eat them, my other party said they were cooked well they just needed salt and pepper. The French toast platter was a true winner: the French toast was delicious and needed NO syrup! Light, fluffy and with just the right amount of sweetness. You can also get the French toast as the bread for your breakfast sandwich! Gonna have to try one the next time. I didnt go inside of the restuarant but its a strictly a takeout place. The is only street parking. I ordered the chicken wings, fish and grits. I loved the wings their fried perfectly. The fish and grits were overwhelming because they stuffed the fish and grits in a small to go container. The fish was alittle salty and the grits were good. They gave great service because when we placed our order over the phone they called to tell us they were fixing everything fresh and it may take a few minutes. I would go back to get the wings! I'd like to start this review with a tip: if you plan to order from this place, make sure to order online, as they do not accept walk-in customers. With that said, I love this restaurant! The staff is courteous and friendly. The establishment is a typical carryout, and despite what others say about the neighborhood being sketchy, it looks like a standard neighborhood to me. Wednesday 3/26/25 This spot came to my attention from a Mrchimetime TikTok review, and he had ALOT of praise for some of the items, so I had to get them. The waffles and jerk chicken cheesesteak were among the popular items he reviewed, but unfortunately, those items have been removed from the menu. I made a takeout order online and got the French toast sandwich $10.27 and the pancakes & wings $17. Also, the spot is a strictly takeout spot so don't expect any seating. - The French toast sandwich was great. The batter they use is on point, and they either sprinkle some sugar on it or toss it in it to get that sweet French toast taste and flavor. - The pancakes and wings were alright, but nothing about either item was particularly noteworthy or worth getting again. When I arrived, I waited an extra 20 minutes for my food & it came out hot and fresh! Everything was delicious and cooked to perfection! What stole the show was those perfectly seasoned chicken wings and fried potatoes. I am going back tomorrow for those items specifically! Yes, they were that good! How I have never left a review for SUGAR MAMA's blows my mind!! I first stumbled upon Sugar Mama's when I was looking for a breakfast place that stated it had amazing food. I didn't even live in Maryland at the time, I was just visiting. I took a chance on Sugar Mama's and it was delicious. I am a breakfast fanatic, I love brunch spots, and Sugar Mama's is top-tier. One of my favorite things are their breakfast potatoes, I would die for their breakfast potatoes. I eventually moved to Maryland and without meaning to I ended up moving just three minutes down the road from Sugar Mama's. I didn't even realize until one day I went on the hunt for a breakfast place. It had been a while so I forgot the name of the place I had had while I was visiting. I decided to try Sugar Mama's, and it was like all these lightbulbs of memories came on, and I realized this was the place that I had tried before. It kind of blew my mind that I ended up moving right next to it. It is soooo good. My partner (CJ) always goes and grabs it for me and everytime he's always so happy when he comes back because they recognized him and his order. This last time we hadn't been in a while because they had gotten crazy popular (deserved) and we didn't want to add to the chaos, but when he walked in, they knew. The French toast is coated in a crunchy cinnamon sugar. The bacon is crispy, the eggs are scrambled, but not too hard it's topped with American cheese. I would've loved for it to be a little more cheesy to help with the saltiness and cut the sweetness a little more. I also enjoyed their drink. I can't remember which one I got but show them the picture that I upload and they'll know! This is a grab and go kind of establishment. It's super tight in there but once you step in to place your order you see how hard the staff is working to complete orders! This is a small takeout spot, so taking a few mins to read ahead to learn about the process helped - call in to pre-order your food, and bring a mask to wear inside for pick-up. If there's a few people waiting inside already, wait outside until folks come out. Not difficult, kinda common sense. I waited a few mins on hold to place my order (worth it). The woman taking my order was kind enough to recommend some other dishes when what I planned to order wasn't available. We ended up with the French toast sandwich with bacon, egg, and cheese; the pancake platter with turkey bacon; chicken (tenders) and French toast, and chicken tenders and fries. EVERYTHING was delicious, but the standouts for me were the French toast (covered in sugary goodness), the home fries (seasoned to perfection and crispy), and the French toast sandwich (I didn't partake, it looked amazing and told it was really good!) I waited outside a few mins when I got there, and gave my name as soon as I got inside for my order. The ladies at the front were so kind, and do a fantastic job multitasking - taking orders, putting finishing touches on food, packing orders, etc. It made the pick-up experience so much better than some places you go without that welcoming feeling. I found Sugar Mama's thanks to a FB Reel. Late night scrolling led me to a hidden gem. The influencer posted a video where he gave this place high reviews. Of course I had to try it for myself. I live well over an hour from Baltimore, but as luck would have it I was going to be in the area the next day for an appointment. I don't know a lot about Baltimore , but this restaurant is on the West Side. Thanks to HBO and the early 2000's hit show the Wire they made this part of the city notorious for all the wrong reasons lol. I felt safe and the block seemed quite. I was easily able to find street parking. All orders are taken online. At first that seemed kinda limiting, but this place is basically just a counter in the kitchen. You literally walk through the door make a quick right and you're there. Taking in person orders, while people are trying to pick up orders would be disastrous. They are only open brunch style hours and close at 3pm. I placed my order around 1pm. By then they were sold out of most of what I wanted to try. To say disappointing would an understatement. However, I was still had plenty to choose from, just not what I had originally planned on. I settled on the waffle platter. It came with 4 mini waffles, scrambled eggs w/ cheese, sausage and home fries. Everything was very good. Eggs were very cheesy and tasted freshly scrambled. The sausage patty was nicely sized. 1 was enough for me. Home fries had a very nice crisp and were well seasoned. The waffles were very good. I like mine a tad crispier, but no real complaints. The cinnamon butter was absolutely AMAZING. I smeared that sweet goodness all over my waffles and didn't even need syrup. They could legit sell it by the jar. I also got the shrimp and grits. Really good. Cajun cream sauce has a slight kick, but definitely didn't overwhelm my palate. Plenty of shrimp and the grits were correctly prepared. I washed everything down with the blue crush drink. This took me back to my childhood when I got to make the kool aid. Sweet is putting it mildly.
